Those who saw The Simpsons Movie know that Homer Simpson’s oft-advertised singing of the song “Spiderpig” encapsulated either everything that was awesome with that film, or everything that was wrong with the Simpsons franchise as a whole (depending on how big of a fan you were at that point). I happen to fall in the latter category. Apparently, police from Blairgowrie, Perthshire may agree with me.

After a summer night of drinking, 22-year old David Mullen broke curfew while on bail and assaulted a police officer, which netted him eight months of jail.  But on top of that, while sitting in the police van, he started singing the song “Spiderpig,” which he claimed to do because it was his ringtone. He also called an officer “ginger.” For breaching the peace through these actions, he was recently sentenced to an additional three months in jail. This is unquestionably a stunning rebuke of The Simpsons Movie by the legal system. However, sadly, those around us that continue to quote The Simpsons ad nauseam remain unpunished.

  • Wow. That turned from LOL to aggravated assault on the Simpsons. Shame Peter, Shame.
  • jank
    actually, david wrote it.
  • TheMarquis
    David is grumpy this morning...

    I miss the Simpsons.
  • I didn't know Ginger was offensive. He probably had red hair.

Simpsons is still better than Family Guy.
  • When the fuck as "ginger" been offensive? Are we in the year 10?
  • I can understand the assault, but ginger? really? come on..
  • Mikey M
There are murders that go free and this guy is put in jail for this?
  • When I was reading this I thought, "Great, another cop abusing his "authoritative" powers in America." Not surprised this happened in Britain but it's not out of the question it could happen here, and probably has. Non-violent crimes ftw.
  • remember when the Simpsons was funny, those were good times
  • diggery doo
the choir/orchestra that sang this song during the end credits redeemed the entire movie for me

    anybody remember that? hilarious!
  • i dont like pigs. i like the even less when they have spider powers.
  • Zach D.
People, they add 3 months to your sentence for being a hack.
i think that's what happen to Jeff Foxworthy.
    food for thought.
  • Be careful everyone, a precedent has been set.

It was always offensive to redheads it was a negative term invented to label them. It's pretty recent too but because redheads are white its seen as okay to pick on them but call anyone black the n word & there is uproar.

There are a few redheads in the British media who tolerate it & tried the old tactic of making the label their own (e.g the term queer & gay men) the label seems to have been invented by the English but ask any redhead the about the term and they will tell you that it is a negative label and would rather not be called it.

Whats worse is its seems to be spreading to other countries like the USA or Ireland were the term was never used before.
  • My friend who is a redhead calls himself a Ginger so that's why I seemed misinformed. Although, the group of people I hang around don't usually let those types of words affect us. I'm not offended if someone refers me to the n-word.
  • All you need to know is that bacon comes from a pig. And that makes the pig a magical animal that this world should erect statues in.
  • This makes me want to drink and watch the movie again.
  • oh, i like that kind of pig. bacon is the best food on earth.. the pigs i dont like are the ones that eat donuts and beat black people.
  • that part of the movie is where the most people in my theater laughed, and it was in the trailer D:

    oof
  • This isn't about the movie, it's about a stupid drunk who didn't know to keep his gob SHUT. This happens all the time here, everywhere, people don't keep their mouths shut and dig themselves a deeper hole.
  • porkchops? no dad, Ham? no dad, bacon? dad they all come from the same animal! sure lisa, some magical animal
  • mmmmm squirrel..
  • Even more shame then
  • The simpsons are tooo old.
All the new stuff is crap.
And the old episodes (Which had good ideas) werent done well at the time.
So I must say I dislike nearly every episode of the simpsons.
  • Those cops must of really hated the Simpsons...or the Idea of a Spiderpig...

But 3 more months??? Damn, I feel so bad for that guy....
  • hahaha im game
  • They should have let him go after that.

He can see fine, to tell the cop had red hair.
He can sing, and recall memories from a movie he watched.
He assaulted a police officer, which means he's doing what any other normal person would do when they try to ruin his evening.

He wasn't drunk, give that man another beer.
