AICN has an exclusive slightly remixed version of the Star Trek trailer. The huge difference is the addition of Leonard Nimoy as Old Spock, making his first big screen appearance as the character since 1991. How very epic! You can watch the three second clip below, but head on over to AICN to see the reedited trailer in High Definition with a couple little changes.

Does anyone know what coat he's wearing and where to buy it?
  • Karla
    He is still attractive.

That was not spock in that scene. That is Sarek (Spock's father) with his wife Amanda (played by Winona Rider"
  • If you're talking about the scene about 1:08 into the trailer, that's Sarek and his wife, not Spock.

Wait, I'm confused. So if this is how Nimoy looks like in the movie, who was playing Spock in the scene in the trailer where he is sitting next to a his (I'm gonna say) wife?
  • Yes, time travel
  • LOL
  • Oh okay. I thought I was crazy for a second. So he must grow old somehow. or is it TIMETRAVEL!?!?!?!?

What the hell? Chill pal. I actually could care less about the little details and nacells and stuff most fans keep whining about... I'm going to love the hell out of this movie probably because I don't care that much for minor nerdy nonsense. I'm just giving my honest opinion on this which I think isn't very nitpicky at all, but something along the lines of 'wow that's how they kill the great captain kirk, huh' So put the gun down. I'm not the enemy.

I think Nimoy looked awesome. This is so great. This really shows the respcet for the original. Thanks Mr. Orci!
  • How would that explain his look earlier, when he was a moderate age Spock. Was that discussed at the screening or are their multiple Spocks in this time disarray?
  • JakePT
Wasn't that Ben Cross? Who plays Spock's father, and the one doing the voiceover.
  • I'm interested to see how they put him in the story. I've heard the whole present Spock goes into the future to visit future Spock, or vis versa, but i'm curious as to how it will work.
  • Hot damn way to ruin the frickin' surprise!! Can't anyone stay true to the experience of a reveal... Sure it's in a trailer but you could've let people discover it on there OWN!!
  • God when this happens in the theater, you know its going to be one of those moments where all of the Trekkies clap or start hooting.

reading comments like this really drives home the feeling that people just don't want to like this. they find a fault with absolutely everything. either that or they've spent so much time thinking what the "perfect Star Trek" is/was that they can't accept anything else without trashing it. i mean, look, if you hold Star Trek so dear and know what's best for the franchise why don't you stop surfing the internet and break you back building a filmmaking career so a studio will give you $100 million to make it? wait, third option: sexual frustration an issue i'm sure is common to most
"trekkers." i'm just a lowly trekkie so i am extremely excited for this movie and think spock looks just wonderful

    niceee. looking good

time is as equal a dimesnion as space and the writers and producers knew that time would ahve to be explorered just as much as space to be proper sci-fi. JJ knows this too.

This is the best they could do for the last "live long and prosper" from our old Vulcan friend, make it look dark and ugly? Where's the dignity, grace, beauty? At least Nimoy's joy in playing spock shines through all the dark gritty crud... Please let shatner make a surprise cameo! Please!
  • For some reason this reminds me of Galaxy Quest where Alan Rickman's character despises his character and his famous line but has to keep repeating it.
  • I'm interested to see how they put him in the futur. I've heard the whole present Spock goes into the future to visit future Spock, or vis versa, but i'm curious as to how it will work.

    HE'S LIVED LONG, HE'S PROSPERED.
But now it's time to tale off the caps lock, kick back and relax.
  • All I say say is, wow, Leonard Nimoy looks o-l-d. Then again, he is (he's 77). Did you know William Shatner is exactly four days older than Nimoy. Yep, he is. Useful info, I know.

Seriously, I'm not sure I'm into Old Spock's appearance in the ST reboot. Keep it clean, keep the "old" and "new" versions of the characters separate. To me, that makes the reboot easier to accept (i.e., a different timeline). I'm also not digging time travel (again) as a plot device, however minor it turns out to be. Can't we declare a moratorium on time travel in ST? I say yes, starting yesterday.
  • are we really going to see something about star trek every two entries until the movie comes out? i don't know if i can take it...
  • tommy_tricker_
    lol@ Spock's pimp coat
  • AllyndDudnikov
Actually, that was Ben Cross as Sarek.
  • All rook same?
  • Delta Assault
Really? I totally thought that was Sarek.

You know those Vulcans, they all look alike </Quigley>
  • Damn he's creepy looking. XD. I like the look though.
  • That's fucking cool. I've said before i'm not a ST fan. But I appreciate when they bring in a classic character like this. Only helping to ground the storyline for the fans.
  • Yes, but you could barely see him. This is his first close-up.
  • Josh
Wasn't Nimoy in the first trailer? Looking down at a lady in a bed?
