The /Filmcast: After Dark - Ep. 26 (GUEST: Angie Han)

The /Filmcast: After Dark is a recording of what happens right after The /Filmcast is over, when the kids have gone to bed and the guys feel free to speak whatever is on their minds. In other words, it’s the leftover and disorganized ramblings, mindfarts, and brain diarrhea from The /Filmcast, all in one convenient audio file. In this episode, Dave, Devindra, and Adam spend more time ragging on Quantum of Solace, continue geeking out about the new Star Trek trailer, and share preliminary thoughts on Oscar nominees. Special guest and old colleague Angie Han joins us for this later-than-usual show.

Your voicemails (781-583-1993) and e-mails are always welcome. Join us next Monday at 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST as we review Twilight with Jen Yamato from Rottentomatoes.

  • I agree with you Egyptnation, even though I myself am not hindered by the late time because of my timezone. I was just pointing out that the show wouldn't have been nearly as funny if they were all well rested and coherent.
  • Awesome,
do u want to be be a uploaded star then log on to www.uploaded.tv and upload your video photo and music and be famous
  • I don't like it when they pick on Adam. He's a sweet, sweet man.
  • I am one of the listeners, who loves listening to the /filmcast. I wish my scheduled allowed me to participate while it's live, but since it doesn't I like to download the episodes and listen to them while I work. Not everyone on the show is a poster on /film, but they are part of the online community and David introduces them at the beginning of the show. I enjoy listening to them review TV and movies, agrue and debate. And would highly recommend listening to an episode or two. The after dark episodes are my favorite because it's a little more off the cuff and the conversations can get really entertaining.
  • Doesn't replying to the chat usually end badly.
  • I'll go for that.
  • Well, props on getting hundred's of good words and emails. But figure that the people not listening aren't going to email you if they didn't even bother to stream the cast in the first place. Think about all the people who pass through the blog but pay no attention to these casts. Forget hundreds, that number is in the thousands.

I'm just saying. I had been pondering this whole thing for a while now. Figured I would bring it up. Like I say, I am not hating on the podcast. I admit, never listened to one of them. Just wanted to offer some suggestions.

and looking forward to the changes,
  • That's my point. Why would I want to listen to either?

I think the folks running the cast are a little disconnected from what is going on here in the blog. I don't even know who they are, rarely see them post, if ever.

Only one is maybe David Chen, but more than not his written blog articles are torn to shreds by the visitors. doesn't really prompt me to want to hear him give luckluster opinions and reviews on a podcast.

    Just being "real".
  • No, I know the answer to this......listener prizes to people that call in. Or better, they could pick a "reply of the week" and give something to the best post or reply on the blog made by a visitor. I might listen in if that were the case.

these podcasts should somehow tie in with what goes on here in the text blog.
  • I hope this is not taken as trolling or being a big bad negative poo.

But what is the point in listening to these? Have seen them promoted here many a time, but no one involved has ever come forward to state explicitly why we casual site visitors would want to take the time or bother to listen. I mean..................... sell it to the people.

Look at the description: After Dark - Ep. 26 (Guest: Angie Han)

Doesn't exactly peek the interest or explode or anything.
I'm reading that, and I'm like hitting my mouse scroll button double time to move on.

    APATOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
  • I fully support giving me free shit for listening.

and to krackajap, if anything they should start earlier. that way more people can listen in live and be in the chat with us. interacting in real-time is probably the best part of the whole show.

i always have to leave around 11, so if they started like at 8, that would probably be the end of the show anyway. i imagine people have work and shit to get to the next day, wouldn't they rather the show finish earlier?

  • Jerry, note taken. But you must entertain, for every note of yours we get 100's of emails and comments complimenting the podcast. We are working on ways to better integrate it into the site You will see those changes as the develop soon.
  • Jerry, more people listen to these than read the average post on /Film.
  • egyptnation
yeah, butler. listen to the whole show, not just the after dark and then you'll understand
  • Just take the initiative and just listen to one; you won't regret it. It's funny to hear them ramble on about things that didn't make it into the actual podcast. Plus, they go over reader questions and voicemails which always brings up interesting topics for discussion. And who doesn't like hearing Adam being called racist?!
  • cesaria
Awesome, I got to make Adam laugh! That was definitely the high light of my day. Apatow.
  • Apatow, Apatow.

    Apatow.
  • You guys should start late more often. It's hilarious when you guys are delirious from sleep deprivation and start rambling on and on. Good luck with Jen on monday!
  • egyptnation
