Race to Witch Mountain Movie Trailer

Disney has released the first trailer for Race to Witch Mountain. It’s easy to immediately discount any kids film (outside of the Pixar-animated movies), but I actually think Witch Mountain looks like disposable fun. Kinda like the kid flicks from the 1980’s. And that might just be the echos of my fond childhood memories of Escape to Witch Mountain, a film this is based on. Please, tell me what you think in the comments below.

Official Plot Synopsis: Race to Witch Mountain is a thrilling action-adventure about a hard luck Las Vegas cab driver Jack Bruno (DWAYNE JOHNSON), whose life is thrown into chaos when apparent ‘runaway’ teenagers Sara (ANNASOPHIA ROBB) and Seth (ALEXANDER LUDWIG) jump into his taxi. He soon realizes his two fares are children with exceptional paranormal powers whom he must protect as they elude a collection of ruthless enemies.

  • okay... the trailer looks decent, BUT the SUV exploding on top of the young boy is so silly, it reminds me of that scene in the new movie BABYLON A.D

    I agree with AngryBroomstick about the damn SUV thing, but I think this movie looks kinda cool. Johnson's dialogue seemed legitimately funny at points. He's not the same actor that he was in Scorpion King. The guy's grown in talent.

    I'll wait for the critical verdict.

    The boy child actor (Ludwig, I presume) is one of the worst child actors I've seen in a while. All he does is look slightly angry all the time.

    common it's awesome. I was super pumped when people were describing it after comicon. Kind of sad it took them this long to release to the public. Oh well. But it looks pretty epic for a disney. I'm sure the movie itself will be dissipointing for some reason. But they've already sold me on the trailer to go see it

    I also have fond memories of Escape to Witch Mountain and am unsure whether this is meant to be a remake/reboot or a sequel.

    At this moment I'm going to reserve judgment until I see another trailer, or the movie itself. This trailer does little to get me excited or disappointed (and I personally think Dwayne Johnson tries too hard in his acting, evident pretty much here).

    That said, we've seen worse kid actors... wait... was that the kid from that Dark Rising movie?

    Bugger.
  • Hmm...it looks like it could be fun for a weekend mantinee, but I'm not sure if I'll go to the theaters to see it. It looks more like a rental.

    Looks like the kids from the original are going to be in it, probably just cameos. This does stir some childhood memories and I don't mind that they remade it but it does not interest me in the slightest.

    OK, so their aliens, who have super powers but... they still need The Rock to guide them. Isn't it strange that it seems believable on some level.

    Seems like it could be fun for some, and Mr. The Rock seems like he'll do a pretty good job of this. Then again, the trailer tells the -entire- story, so that's a bummer...

    I agree with most everyone, looks like dumb fun. Hope it's a huge hit because my Disney stock is in the crapper right now. I'd like to get a better look at the bounty hunter too. Looked like he moved a little slow. Was it a robot or what?

  • Okay. I remember watching the Witch Mountain movie(s) as a kid. Both of them (the TV movie from the 90s included). And I don't remember either of them being WHAM! BAM! THANK YOU, MA'AM! type action movies, but rather a moody children's films with interesting sci-fi ideas.

    This looks just horrible. Everything is laid out in the trailer in a neat little package.

    With this trailer and the new Star Trek one, I'm seeing a disturbing trend of action-ing up these old franchises to sell it to youngsters.

    What the hell is this crap... I saw witch mountain as a kid too and it didn't have slow mo trucks hitting kids and all this matrix stuff. It had a real story. Yeah maybe I'm starting to sound like those old people who can't understand why kids like the crap they like but this really does look like garbage. oh well... i liked a lot of garbage back then too....

  • This looks like a fun film but... part of the fun of the original was the kids (and audience) didn't know they were aliens until nearly the end of the film. Their journey to Witch Mountain mirrored their journey of self discovery. I like the old Winnebago is back. The original sequel had a prominent role for a cab driver so that concept seems pretty solid. I guess I'll wait and see.
  • I vaguely remember these Witch Mountain movies as a kid and enjoying them then, so I feel a certain loyalty to the franchise, even though I can't remember the original plot. I'm not a Dwayne Johnson fan, nor do I think this movie will be amazing, but it at least looks like silly fun, so.... woo.
  • I...don't think this movie looks horrible, and I'm usually one of the first to attack Johnson's acting. We'll see how it plays out...
