The Wrestler Movie Poster

The theatrical poster for Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler was on display on the red carpet outside AFI Fest. Below is a photo of it. I’m sure, Fox Searchlight will release a clearer digital file online in the next few days.

Perfect poster, it really captures the whole movie.

This looks amazing. Awesome poster. i CAN NOT wait to see this film. wanted to see it at the festival here in NYC a couple weeks back, but alas, it was sold out. of course. anyway, Darren Aronofsky FTW, Mickey Rourke is the Man.

i understand this is supposed to be an amazing performance from Rourke but it seems like(referring to the quote on the poster) some people are acting like he hasn't been seen for 10 years..

I saw this movie on Saturday and it completely surpassed my expectations. I already thought it was going to be good but I think now that it was my favorite movie of 2008! It was the exact right amount of funny, sad and moving. Oh and the poster is great!

That is one sweet poster. I like how they fit the quote in there.

Mickey came back in Sin City, seems now he was born to play this role,,,
    Can't wait !!!

I agree that for many, many people Rourke had made a huge turn as Marv in Sin City. It seems weird that people are overlooking that. I guess it is a way to promote the film.
  • Bryan S.
Yes, the man SHOULD have had a comeback with Sin City, and in a minor way he did, but since Sin City, he has been typecast as a variation of the thuggish heavy (see: Domino, Killshot, Stormbreaker, almost Death Proof). Anybody who knows Rourke's work knows he's capable of much more. While a Pro-Wrestler may fall into the logical pattern of his recent roles, that its a serious drama, as opposed to a cartoonish b-movie, is a good step in the right direction.

The guy has been getting Marv-esque roles, when's he's capable of doing a leading dramatic role in the vein of his heatbreaking cameo in The Pledge (where he stole the movie from a cast including Sam Shepard, Helen Mirren, Benicio Del Toro, Tom Noonan, Vanessa Redgrave, Aaron Eckhart, and most importantly, an-actually-acting Jack Nicholson - all with just one scene).

If Hollywood has the imagination to look past the plastic surgery nightmare that is his face, Rourke could maybe try to live up to the Brando-De Niro comparisons that were thrown his way in the 80s, and which he drove into the ground in the 90s. He may have lost the looks, but he still has the talent.
  • This is the best movie I've seen this year.. maybe in the last 5 years. "The Ram" is uniquely likable and Rourke should win the Oscar. Everything else is perfect. I really hope it has crossover appeal and word of mouth gets it out there.

It's like Million Dollar Baby, only a thousand times better.
  • As a Pro-Wrestling photographer, Im very interested in seeing this film...I simply love the poster, very strong image.

I wish I could of been involved with the production of this film. I cant wait to see it.
  • great!!!!!!!!
