Final Valkyrie Movie Trailer

United Artists has released the last and final movie trailer for Bryan Singer’s Valkyrie. Gone is the overly stylish split screen editing, Added, the SAW theme leads to the climax. It’s amazing how well that theme fits other movies, even though its the key theme song of a five film franchise. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m really starting to look forward to this film. Complain about the lack of accents all you want. Bash Tom Cruise if you will, but this looks like a solid thriller. Share your thought in the comments below!

Plot Synopsis: In a country in the grips of evil, in a police state where every move is being watched, in a world where justice and honor have been subverted, a group of men hidden inside the highest reaches of power decide to take action. Tom Cruise stars in the suspense film, VALKYRIE, based on the true story of Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise) and the daring and ingenious plot to eliminate one of the most evil tyrants the world has ever known. Director Bryan Singer (THE USUAL SUSPECTS, X-MEN, SUPERMAN RETURNS) re-teams with Academy Award®-winning USUAL SUSPECTS screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie to bring to life the story of the men who led the operation to assassinate Hitler. The film also stars an acclaimed cast including Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Carice van Houten, Thomas Kretschmann, Eddie Izzard, Christian Berkel and Terence Stamp.

A proud military man, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg is a loyal officer who serves his country all the while hoping that someone will find a way to stop Hitler before Europe and Germany are destroyed. Realizing that time is running out, he decides that he must take action himself and joins the German resistance. Armed with a cunning strategy to use Hitler’s own emergency plan – known as Operation Valkyrie – these men plot to assassinate the dictator and overthrow his Nazi government from the inside.

With everything in place, with the future of the world, the fate of millions and the lives of his wife and children hanging in the balance, von Stauffenberg is thrust from being one of many who oppose Hitler to the one who must kill Hitler himself.

looks more and more and more awesome every second you watch

It looks like Bryan Singer felt he had something to prove after Superman Returns and knocked one out of the ball park.
  • NINJARTIST
Oh yes, there will be Nazis.
  • IronMonger
I love the shot where the camera pushes in on the briefcase. pure Singer, pure genius.

the lack of accents don't bother me at all. if it's done right, it can be rather absorbing NOT to have them. after all, if one of the main actor's accent is slightly off, it can really take you out of the movie. I'm hoping this is good, because as much as I dislike Tom Cruise's recent behavior, and as much as I HATED Superman Returns, I really truly want to see him and Singer back on top again. I love a good comeback story.
  • LudaChris
    I'll say this.

Singer is obviously a talented director. We all know this.

The story is sick, with or without Singer.

But the accent,s for the love of the God I know Peter mentioned it..but the accents just suck me the hell out of the film.

    It's such a shame.

I love the trailer. If the tone and style of the trailer are representative of that of the film, I feel like I'll at least love this as a "plan/execution" type of movie, like a kind of high-level heist movie. At most, this will be that plus an incredible historical drama. And the lack of accents doesn't annoy me nearly as much as they did in Enemy at the Gates, where ALL nationalities had British accents.

While, I understand the reasoning behind the lack of accents, it irks me a little. I am looking forward to this, though.
  • I would still rather have accents but this trailer show far more promise than the first one that came out

I don't know what to say. I am not a huge Tom Cruise fan to begin with. the plot line looks a bit weak. But i have to say the trailer was something that made me wonder. Half way through my ears perked. I heard the sound of Charlie Clouser, and i thought hmm, when is jigsaw going to appear. I thought the idea of Cruise with eye patch was a little silly, but adding the Saw soundtrack behind it made the trailer humorous. I started to laugh, it thought of it as something that a fan had made, because although the music set the tone for the trailer, it is not the right tone. all in all i will not spend my money to see this. maybe i will watch the trailer for free and have a good laugh.

I think they have not done a very good job with this. It is exciting at the beginning of the trailer and then peters out. I have no desire to see this movie.

I have heard from people who have seen the film and it is not a thriller at all and they are putting in the trailer the only scenes that make it seem this way. This film is a historical drama about a bunch of guys in Hitler's inner circle, who turned on him when Germany was already losing the war. They are also Nazi's.
  • Nancy
This trailer is bad. I so don't want to see this Nazi movie.
  • ehtan
i cant wait for this movie
tom cruise has always suited these types of roles; last samurai etc
although the last 3 years of acting like a totral twit i still am a big fan of him and his movies
    do me proud TOM

    about the accents...
i mean honestly, would you rather them be speaking German accents that would probably be awful? with them speaking english i feel like it won't take away nearly as much as the bad accents themselves would.

    as for the movie,
singer knows how to direct a movie and i know people really dislike tom cruise as a person but i personally love him on screen, besides the terrible Lions for Lambs and parts of War of the Worlds I feel like he typically makes the movies he is in a lot better.

Anyone else catch the Saw Theme starting at 1:37?

    Anyone?

    Anyone?

    Beuller?
  • YoungZe
    Yes actor we catched it.

I can't wait for this film to be released in germany. Otherwise it wouldn't be much fun to watch it. The german voice acting would do so much more to the film.

Anyway this trailer is the best from all shown and i cannot wait to watch the film.
  • reggiehammond
weak trailer. too cookie cutter in presentation I think.

I like the previous one more. it was slick, mysterious...

accents are a big negative, but Singer film making in addition to a tom cruise performance will make this film a winner nevertheless.

I can't think of a recent major Hollywood production where the Nazis either didn't speak with German accents or just in German. Can you guys think of any?
  • LudaChris
That new one with Daniel Craig does a perfect job of it.

Then again...Daniel Craig is a GOOD actor.

    bing!
  • mike
    LudaChris,

Can you please explain to me why in Defiance, a bunch of supposed Polish people are speaking heavily accented English with one another? Coz last time I checked, Polish people speak Polish to each other, NOT English with funny accents...so if you are not gonna have the whole movie in Polish with subtitles, then accents are not the way to go. Plain English would have worked better, me thinks.
  • it's gonna be awesome...
    I trust in Singer..
  • Derek
it looks really good, my only problem is the trailer in which at the end they have the random guy go 'Valkyrie" its just not needed.
  • Jason
I was expecting to see Jigsaw for a second.
  • bobo
    something about the accents:

since the characters are german, they would actually speak german, not english with german accents.

if you watch the german version of the movie, they will all speak german. but then you won't understand a word.
  • nugent Luv
Hooray! Another Saw movie by years end!
  • ilves
As already mentioned by some, having the actors speak with a German accent would be completely stupid. They are speaking German in 'reality.' Germans don't speak German with an accent, they speak it fluently. Therefore, if the dialogue is put into a different language, they will still speak fluently, hence NO accent.
  • lpfanaddy
yep other than the use of "Hello Zepp", a pretty good trailer, I'm definitely seeing it regardless of the music in the trailer though.
  • TheMarquis
Why would anyone use "Hello Zepp" in a trailer released this clost to halloween/a Saw film. That's just poor planning, methinks. Although, it's probably better than yet ANOTHER use of the Requiem for a Dream sndtrk (although fantastic, much overused).
  • The Don
Wow.... Just terrific pace to the trailer. This makes it look actually good! I'm very interested now. The accents do not bother me at all... if there's an accent, there might as well be real German. So what's the point?
  • J
why would accents help?? they would be speaking German not English anyway!!
  • Andrew
Maybe I'll catch it on HBO. Cruise was never that good an actor to start with, and now you have to go against your conscience to pay money to see him.
  • Let this film die already!
  • Cruise is the man
this is for intelligent older people not the MTV teens for sure
  • Cruise is the man
WTG Cruise and Singer!!!!!! For some that watch movies for accents watch the lousy German Valkyrie movie. It sucks.

Accents dont make the movie but the acting, directing and quality script.
  • fanboy
I love to see this for Cruise and Nighy and hope Christmas day is not a hectic month for me.
  • Forest Ranger
Looks good to me. I am in and I am looking forward to it. I hope it is not a typical Hollywood movie that completely perverts history. I'm looking forward to a historically accurate movie. Some things in the trailer lead me to believe it will be laced with some crap, like the plaza of Nazi flags. This was almost enough to make me go negative, but I am giving it the benefit of the doubt. Lets hope, for the most part, the movie is accurate to the real story of the July 20th Bomb Plot.
  • ruud
they cold use't indyana jones theme. it's more fun for the trailer
