  • I'm shocked, yet intrigued. I grew up watching these guys, and to see their Dexterian ways is actually kind of awesome.

Perhaps I've just been watching too much Dexter.
  • Jmoney
obviously you havn't been watching Dexter this season, he hardly ever kills anyone
  • dan
...and Chuck Jones spins in his grave
  • YoungZe
    Very disturbing. :?
  • I'm re-watching Season 1 in between new episodes of Season 3. And I completely agree with you.
  • Obso1337
Very cool. The thing I wonder most however is how whoever did this got permission to use the WB characters for it.
  • I smell lawsuit
  • Brian
That damn roadrunner finally got his. YES!
  • starscream9289
    NOT TWEETY!!!!!!!!!!!
  • charles
that's fucked up , seriously. I see a lawsuit also.
  • bobert
I find this exhibit interesting because we grew up watching these cartoons in which they fall off cliffs an become pancakes, have guns explode in their face resulting in blackened skin, yadda yadda yadda. And now, someone has taken those cartoons an placed them into the real world.
pretty cool, although some might find it a bit overboard.
  • yeah. If you re-do these cartoons today they would probably be given a R rating and be banned

amazing how weird and hypocritical our society has become.
  • carg0
can we get an update on the legality of this exhibition, /film?
  • Sergemeister
Everyone knows you don't get sued unless you use Disney characters!!!
  • John L
So, just because they're murdering, they're like Dexter?

Anyways, I like it just because I always though Tom and Sylvester and Wille got a raw deal. As hard they tried to get their prey, they never succeeded. Also, Jerry was a dick.
  • Personally I love the Sylvester/Tweety pic. I always hated that damned bird.

    Vic
  • Carl
Wow, these are cool pics!!!! carl.l@easytickers.com

It's nice to see Itchy & Scratchy in a museum. Oh wait.
  • Ghost
I love these! I wish I could buy the actual statue pieces they built for some of them. I would proudly display those. What I've dreamed for years has finally been made!
  • John L
Also, no one's noticed Bugs using the Samartian from Hellboy? I mean, if you guys want to talk about legality issues. . .
  • Marc M
These aren't much worse than Itchy/Scratcy, if at all.
  • @ dan

c'mon, you know Chuck Jones would totally be doing this kind of stuff if he'd done his cartoons today instead of decades ago...
  • jim
Jerry and that freaking Road Bird are finally dead. YESS!!!!!
  • Rena
That Tom Statue is soooo well done. I wish I could see this exhibit.
  • Meli

I'm not sure about the laws in the UK*, but this sort of thing would be covered by fair use provisions in the copyright law here in the U.S. So the copyright holders could sue**, but their case would be on pretty shaky ground, at least in the U.S.

*UK law is known as Fair Dealing, if anyone has a desire to research more.
**Fair Use is a legal defense and not codified to prevent litigation. Fair Use is determined on a case by case basis with decisions based (at least in part) on precedence.

This breaks absolutely no new ground, seeing as Itchy & Scratchy have been covering this subject for many years now. These works are not much better than the "Calvin pissing on things" genre.
  • abu
    MattD is absolutely spot on...
  • It's like Itchy & Scratchy come true!
  • I liked the old National Lampoon parody of Tom & Jerry better. I still chuckle over the line, "Yecchht! My spine!"
  • Dan Shockley
These would probably qualify as parody, and thus can get away with a lot of copying.

    IANALY (Y=yet)
  • nittles
I believe this would qualify as a parody or criticism. That would be protected under artists' rights.
  • i like looney toons

in thailand show this movie every day
  • Amazing. I guess this artist was so upset that the villain never catches hero, he had to make such drawings. I think these are quite original, but nearly sacrilege. Last one is cute, yes you need at least 23 tons.
  • My friend was at the is exhibition and was mentioning about this, I missed it however...
  • wow thats cool! I love it. I must visit this museum! I am from germany. I think a trip to london is not so expensive anymore. Thanks for that great post and the tip.
    Very very (!) cool!
  • Stephen Treadwell
Don't care much for any of them. I think they're quite stupid.
  • hey really looking cool... wat a gr8 stuff been posted.. i like cartoons so much.. its just different to see them with guns... nice post!!!
