No, Fail is not owning John Carpenter's The Thing.
  • Thankyoufor

They don't make special effects like that anymore...the "head" scene by far blows away any CGI I've ever seen.

I didn't own it when I was younger so I downloaded it off mininova, and got caught, Fail. My cable provider told me to delete it before I could get my connection back, but I did no such 'thing'. Now I own it and watch it almost every month.
  • this, is amazing.

Just a classic, I own the DVD as well. Just another reason to say Kurt Russell pwns all action stars. One of the most underrated actors/action stars ever.

Get the fuck out of here with all this Fail talk. This is probably the top 3 best Sci-Fi movies of all time. Not liking this or owning is is FUCKING FAIL!!!!

Sorry your country isn't that important so you can't watch this or any video's posted on hulu

Seriously love the site, but could we loose the draconian type video links please :(
  • Ali:

    1. Over 90% of the readers on /Film are based in the United States

    2. If there were an international option for you to also watch The Thing for free online, I would have included it.

    3. If I'm posting a clip from SNL or South Park, I am legally obligated to post it through the networks embed. If I post a YouTube or bootleg embed, we can be sued for distribution of copyrighted material. I'm sorry, but we're not going to test our chances to make the few international readers happy.

There's nothing wrong with posting Hulu links.

But what's the situation with Hulu for non-USA residents? Are they trying to work it out so Canadians like myself can see it?

Hulu sounds great and I would love to be able to use it. Plus, I've never seen the Thing, so that would be nice.

I'm sure all non-US IP addresses can watch stuff on Hulu through a proxy, if you can be bothered with that sort of thing.

I'm all for people seeing The Thing but fer f**k sake do yourself a favor and buy the DVD. One of the few movies I'll re-invest in the second it's released on BluRay. Carpenter is God (not so much his recent crap but y'know - the good stuff).
  • Cool...The things is one of the best sci-fi/horror flicks in the last 30 years
  • I've bought this movie 3 times (VHS, non-anamorphic dvd, anamorphic dvd) and I know when I eventually get my Blu Ray player....I'll totally buy this again.

Classic. One of the few horror/sci fi flicks I can re-watch at any time. They just don't make effects like this anymore. Awesome.
