  • Dr. Handsome
Spike TV, what a jok... wait, Y the Last Man, Dexter, and Umbrella Academy!?
  • TheGuyInThePJ's
The only award The Dark Knight received that I'd disagree with is Best F/X... which Iron Man should have gotten.
  • Captain Awesome
    Dark Knight Happy :D
  • Jaybee U Tler
How much credibility can you lend an awards show which gave "best breakout performance" to "Wall-E" from the animated movie wall-e.

This seems more along the lines of the tongue and cheek (also ridiculous and largely panned by anyone in the Industry) type of movie awards that mtv puts out.

    Spiketv carries absolutely no weight.
  • silent
Peter, you forgot to mention one award - the special Immortal Award, which went to Tim Burton.
  • StarBlazer101
I believe that Aaron Eckhart deserves A LOT more credit than he has been given for in his performance for TDK.
  • Jaybee U Tler
I don't see how DK could have won best special fx. Really, there were not that many in the film. and Most were achieved as practical effects. as in rigs turning over, people jumping around......... In a season which brought Iron Man, Indy, Hellboy.............have to kinda call foul on that one.

Spike is lame. would have been better if spike lee had won sole use of the name and run the station with an iron fist!
  • These awards are lame. Sweeny Todd as Best Horror Movie?! WTF??????
  • Jawmuncher
    Agreed StarBlazer101

    Aaron Eckhart's performance > Heath Ledger's
  • Pentarix
Best Line was even misquoted, nice.

The whole thing's a farce anyway. Watch it gain momentum with this generation of nitwits.
  • Autosuggestion
I was glad to see The Strangers get an award (though I wasn't the biggest fan of Tyler's performance), but what about Midnight Meat Train? Those were the two best horror movies of the year.
  • Aeghast
    Nothing for Eckhart..?
  • Best line shoulda been :

"how 'bout a magic trick? I 'm going to make this pencil disappear..."
  • VegaBro
Isnt the line "I believe whatever doesnt kill you simply makes you stranger"?

Plus that is nowhere near as good as the line "a submarine, like a submarine Mr. Wayne"
  • Kokushi
    @ Jaybee U Tler

Indy FX were crap: nuke frige, tarzan scene with MONKEYS, bouncing truck in trees, 3 waterfall, ruber snake.

TDK is my favorite of 2008 but Iron Man deserve the FX.
  • But of course, TDK wins again...
  • Dan
Dexter does rock....my favorite show on TV (even though it has sadly regressed since the first season)

Y: The Last Man is a good graphic novel, I like it....but Kick-Ass is better IMO.
  • Its still kinda cool that they give more publicity to these genres, so I am all for it. Usually they have some good guests and nice new/early footage...
  • Palmer
I find it hard to believe that a musical is considered the best horror movie. Then again, it is Spike TV.
  • A Better Class of Criminal
I agree with all but the F/X and Holy Sh*t! scene of the year.

F/X should have gone to Iron Man, Holy Sh*t! scene should have gone to the pencil trick. There's no way the semi flipping over was more Holy Sh*t! than a pencil being shoved into a guys head.

Oh, and as good as Eckhart was... Ledger was far, far better.
  • Jaybee U Tler
"Indy FX were crap: nuke frige, tarzan scene with MONKEYS, bouncing truck in trees, 3 waterfall, ruber snake."

Actually, if you had watched the bonus features of the dvd, you'd have known that it was in fact a real live snake. You may not have liked the 'context' of the special effects, but that doesn't mean that the work itself wasn't well done.

But I do agree that it should have gone to IM hands down.
  • Brian
When are people going to learn what Batman is, and that Nolan's so called "Batman" is GARBAGE!
I'm so tired of people treating the movie as a god, IT STANK!
  • Aaron
It's about as reliable an "award show" as Spike's video game awards. Awards are not given on merit but rather it's a platform to promote sales. Jaybee said it right: Spike carries no weight of legitimacy.
  • dan
    Halloween got Best Remake?

    What?

Not only was it the worst remake ever filmed, it was quite possibly the worst horror movie since the days of Ed Wood.
  • Meli
Dude these awards are nothing more than popular vote much like the MTV movie awards they're not meant to be taken seriously. Out of the choices you had to vote for the results are pretty good.
  • optimusprime
TDK was an awesome movie. But I don't really sees how it won Best F/X. You kidding me. Iron Man should off won it.
  • John
    Best Remake was Halloween?????????

Are they kidding? That remake was complete trash.
  • Rick
I think you guys are being a bit harsh. Frankly all remakes are trash and Zombie's Halloween at least had some style to it. And, yes, some of the winners are bland like the Dark Knight, but I thought Hellboy was a good choice for Fantasy Film. As far as horror goes, it was a pretty shitty year for horror overall and I'm sorry, but Sweeney Todd was a good film. But I think we should give props to the show for showcasing Teeth as the best horror scene. That flick was over the top.
  • I watched it last night and it was awesome! I wish I could been there. :)
  • Jackson
Anyone notice when George Lucas came out some kid in the crowd yelled out "You haven't been cool since the 80's!" I had to rewind it a time or two to catch it, but it was there. I laughed!
  • Matt
"How much credibility can you lend an awards show which gave “best breakout performance” to “Wall-E” from the animated movie wall-e."

More credibility than I would give *most* awards shows, since WALL-E is the best film of the year, has won many awards already, and deserved many more of these awards than TMOMOFAT (The Most Overrated Movie of All Time) aka TDK.
  • Callie
How disappointing. I was really hoping that Helena Bonham Carter would win best actress for her portrayel as Mrs. Lovett.
  • ziggy
good to see the fanboys are up to it again
