The Ugly Truth Movie Poster

The poster for the Katherine Heigl/Gerard Butler romantic comedy The Ugly Truth is actually kinda funny. Also, am I the only one who wishes that the marketing department would create more minimalist clean and simple poster designs?

    yes you are!

I enjoy minimalism most of the time, but a movie poster like this would take less than 10 minutes to create. It's not hard work or anything. So, while a simple poster every now-and-then is nice... for it to become more "mainstream" would be a terrible idea.

it seems like a growing trend (minimalist posters).
  • RAMV
and it is not original, i've seen this before.

I like it. Today is my liking day, Don't spoil it.

I'm sick of the stereotype that men are stupid and only care about sex and women are smart and care more about love and emotions. Fucking sitcoms, *I* don't love Raymond.
  • Because it's inevitable
You just want to have sex with him

Katherine Heigl looks pretty flat on this poster.

you wish they would simpler designs... and take no offense, and don't quote me on this-- but didn't you piss on the Zack and Miri poster because it was stickfigures?
  • Ryan: Nope, I LOVED the theatrical poster. Go read my posting on the subject. Posters are different than casual advertising. You walk in a movie theater and take a look at each movie poster as you walk by. There is more of an attempt made by the viewer to understand a poster than say, an advertisement on the side of a bus. This is more casual. Someone in a car next to the bus doesn't have 20 seconds to read and take in what exactly the stick figures mean. On top of that, I think Seth Rogen is gold right now. You need the public to associate Rogen with the film. His face needs to be on the poster. Plus, lets be honest, the stick figures don't tell you anything about the movie. Its more about the MPAA censoring the film's advertising than anything else.

And on the subject of minimalist posters, I would argue that Knocked Up did a better job than most.

They MUST be crazy!!!!! If they want women to go see this chick flick they better put Gerry's photo on the poster. Preferably, with his shirt off :-b..............
  • Dan
Am I the only person who f***ing hates Heigl? I mean, after what she said about knocked up? She isn't even very good looking. She's just slightly flabby and blonde. And I'm pretty sure that ending a name in "gl" makes absolutely no f***ing sense.

    Dan,

No, you're not alone. I don't like her, either.

And RMV is right, I've seen this logo on a t-shirt before or something.

Don't want to sound like a prick, but am I the only male here who gets really freaking sick of this stereotype that only encourages more of that brand of retarded behavior?
  • Arch Stanton
This image is so old and tired. Then again, it's a Katherine Heigl movie.

Minimalist posters are fine, but somehow, just after the minimalist one for "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" and now this, I am getting tired of it already. Maybe the point about minimalist posters is that they are outstanding, being minmalist while all others are not? That way, I could understand why an idea I actually like can become stale on me that fast.

    stereotypes ftw
  • “Zack and Miri Make a Porno” rip-off? or the start of something new for movies.
  • Ivana
I kinda like it. I think it's cute and simple.

Ha Ha you men are just torqued because it really is so true about a man's depth. You've all proved to over and over and over. Take a good look at at yourselves. Even if you aren't "all" like that, there is enough to make this movie pretty true to life. Stereotypes generally are pretty accurate, but we've become to PC to admit it.
