Michael Moore Filming New Movie in Canada

Michael Moore was spotted at an all-candidates debate in Ontario, Canada last week. After the debate Moore spent 90 minutes going door-to-door with NDP incumbent Tony Martin, in addition to interviewing five of the six candidates (Mike Taffarel of the Marxist-Leninist Party; Paul Bichler of the Liberal Party; incumbent Tony Martin of the socialist New Democratic Party; Luke McMichael of the Green Party; and Cory McLeod of the First Peoples National Party.). When Conservative candidate Cameron Ross declined to meet with Moore for a post-debate interview, Moore quipped “I don’t know why he didn’t stay… Maybe he was hungry. Conservatives get hungrier easier I guess.” As it turns out, Ross was actually busy celebrating his 20th wedding anniversary.

But what is Moore’s new movie about? The Canadian election system? One would assume that the footage will be part of the Fahrenheit 9/11 no-so-much-a-sequel but a follow-up film that Overture Films plans to release in Summer 2009. The Washington Times quotes Moore as saying “”I’m trying to break this down very simply for Americans, who basically have a hard time understanding how to vote themselves.” Moore’s cameraman eventually told The National Post that they were shooting footage for Moore’s new movie “comparing Canadian and U.S. elections.”

Moore has previously commented that the film “isn’t about Bush”, but and will instead “examine America as an empire, study its standing since the Sept. 11 attacks and present revelations to surprise audiences as much as the first film did.” You can watch the video below of Pete Vere try unsuccessfully to get information from Moore about his current project.

This guy is a real con-man. I can't believe how many people he's suckered into making him one filthy rich "regular guy sticking up for the common man." Funny thing is he's exactly who you should be condemning, someone who capitalizes on the misfortune of others.

omg, i hate moore so much but i want to see this movie just to see what he gets wrong about canada. douchebag
  • "I’m trying to break this down very simply for Americans, who basically have a hard time understanding how to vote themselves."

ROFLMAO!! Yeah, because we're like, you know, really stupid?

No wonder people can't stand this guy (myself included).

And the conservatives attack... lame. You guys are so predictable, its stupid.
  • Nick
What the hell does that mean John? Batman is completely right. Michael Moore is so despicable it hurts my head. People need to stop seeing his movies so that he will go away. His "documentaries," if they can even be called that, are so one-sided and factually distorted and wrong that it is sad that people in other parts of the world probably believe them. I'll stay away from politics since this site is about films and simply say that the guy is a disgrace to film making (among many many other things).
  • @ John

I believe in everything Michael Moore claims to believe in also, I am in no way a conservative, totally liberal and I can't stand the man.
  • Bull
Michael Moore rocks. Look at all the movie dorks that are up in arms: "Michael Moore is so terrible, he distorts all the facts. America is No. 1! Don't ever say anything bad about it." Shut the fuck up.
  • Stroke
Breathe harder and harder by the day Moore... Soon, your life will soon be mine...
  • Bull
That picture makes it look like he needs a crane to scoop his gigantic ass up. At least he's reppin' the D.
  • Quan
    Batman, I completely agree.
  • Paul
    Gawd is he fat.
  • GregoryV
Why is this lying fat bastard still making docs and films? Oh, I forgot, he's a capitalist and makes millions by conning you. Ugh... I don't know why I continue to watch Moore's films. He's just like Bill O'Reily, you gotta stick around and see what he says next. Reguardless of political parties... repub, dems, or inde, many can agree that he distorts the truth, brainwashes America with clever editing.

“I’m trying to break this down very simply for Americans, who basically have a hard time understanding how to vote themselves.”

Thanks for making America look even more worst.

I love Moore to death but he looks like he's auditioning for Wall-E 2. Are there any bones in that body?

The difference between the American and Canadian elections is pronounced because of two factors. First, we have extremely different electoral systems. Second, the American electoral system is far more engaging as it hinges purely upon a battle between two people.
  • the main difference between ca
    the electoral college sucks

The guy next to Moore looks like Hitler. HAHAHA Steve Irwin in the back. WEEEERRRRRRRDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!
  • Arch Stanton
Moore is the shabbiest looking man in the world.

And it's all an act. Pitiful.

A Moore film featuring Canadian politics...I can guess the title is "Dulling The Nation" because it's going to cause a lot of people to fall asleep in theaters...I have nothing against Canada since I live there, but on the other hand it has to be the dullest country...Now Canadian politics there's a subject that won't be interesting on film...If you've ever sat through a CBC documentary at any point featuring politics you'll understand...and in high school I was shown many of these things... Moore needs to focus on American torture centers or it's policies concerning alternative fuels...Didn't he just release a free film about elections? I enjoy most of his films but this sounds sketchy at this point...

Wow! Has Michael been scarfing marshmallows for the past two years - he is F-A-T! Super fat actually! But I love him, yeah piss on the haters and I'll throw in some lambchops to keep Michael satisfied while he fights the good fight. Yeee-hoooo!!!!!
  • MKW
"I'm Michael Moore and I'm moving to Canada! Fuck you United States!"
  • @John

"And the conservatives attack… lame. You guys are so predictable, its stupid."

ROFLMAO!! Yeah, because "the liberals" are SO kind and even-handed, right? :-P

I hate Michael Moore. Really Hate him, like to my bones. People talk about hate, it is a word that is just thrown around, I am not throwing it around. I really, truly, completely hate this man. If Chris Farley and John Candy's DNA were combined, and any appealing, funny, or human parts were sucked out, you would have Michael Moore.

I also love how people watch a Michael Moore "Documentary" and become experts on the subject. Sheep say BAAAAAA!

Movies do not educate. His movies show ONE side of a subject, if it interests you, look into it. Then go give Al Gore some money to save the planet.
