Amazon is giving away the Ultimate Matrix Collection on Blu-ray with purchase of the Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-ray player. The set which normally retails for $130 includes all three films, The Matrix Revisited, The Animatrix, plus brand-new supplemental materials, including two new audio commentaries on each film, “Enter the Matrix” video game footage, 106 deep-delving featurettes/documentaries and much more. The Samsung player retails for $399.99, but is listed at $221.92 (45% off) on Amazon. You need to add both items into your cart and check out to see the special discount. The offer ends on October 18th.

Also, not a huge deal, but it’s worth mentioning that Amazon has begun taking pre-orders on The Dark Knight. The Blu-ray is available for $24.99 (31% off the $36 MSRP) / The 2-Disc DVD Special Edition is available for $22.99 (34% off the $35 MSRP). Both versions will be released on December 9th 2008.

    Wow!!!
  • i plan on getting the dark knight deal instead of the matrix deal. although both are very very tempting.
  • I got the Matrix HD-DVD set for $20 when Best Buy was closing everything out.

Man... that artwork for TDK really blows. That's the worst poster they had. Really screams "please consider us for Oscars!" doesn't it?

The should use different covers with joker face, that cover its cool but with the joker its better.
  • I recognize that most of your readership is American, but some of us* are Canadian, and we need deals too!

Amazon.ca has a sale on TV on DVD right now. Check it out, yo.

    * - Perhaps there aren't that many of us, but I'm probably one of the few people who accosted Peter Scrietta on the corner of Yonge and Gerrard during TIFF this year.

I was hoping they'd use that one-sheet for the DVD cover, it was easily the most retarded looking poster of them all and I laughed everytime I saw it at my theatre. I think it reflects the movie perfectly.
  • jesse
really the value of the dollar has become so low dew to inflation that you really aren't saving any money.

the player was highly over priced to begin with.
  • Thankyoufor
isnt the second disc just a disk for digital copy anyways
  • JokerLover
i hope that the TDK blue ray isn't just that. I really prefer seeing Joker on the cover since he stole the spotlight from batman. I would definitely get that version instead.

I have a feeling that there will be special exclusive editions of Dark Knight sold at places like Target, Best Buy, etc, with different covers and steelbooks.
  • Ronny
Reviews of the player are not that stellar...

Wow. Both of those are sweet deals. Really tempts me to get a blu ray player.. I need to wait till at least black friday though.
  • Andrew
    "The Ultimate Matrix Collection," eh?

Remember back when they gave away copies of of the "Lost In Space" remake with DVD players?
  • StarBlazer101
They should have used the "Welcome to a world without rules" poster instead.

Can you imagine Morpheous saying that line: "Welcome to a world without rules, Neo."
  • Jonathan
    @Andrew

I happened to enjoy that movie. Very campy.
  • gocitizen
It's not really a big deal, but why do people have so much concern over DVD covers? It's not like they ever get displayed anywhere once you buy them. Do they?
    Just curious.

For the record, I liked that TDK poster quite a bit.
  • Goobity
Who the in hell would pay $130 for the Matrix trilogy?
  • Captain Awesome
"Who the in hell would pay $130 for the Matrix trilogy?"

This. And I agree, unless the dvd cover is somehow ruining the actual film. Can't say it's a huge deal. Though I will say I am a bitch when it comes to the quality of the dvd case itself. But either way, I stick them sideways. Just as long as I can see the "title".

I did like that metal case WB made for the Gotham Knight release.

I just bought all three Matrix movies (DVD) along with the Animatrix in a package at Sams for $9.99. It wasn't on sale or anything so I'm sure the package is available in other areas. I understand its not the exact same package at all, but hey, its 10 bucks.
