If Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Were Real

I’ve always wondered what a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle might look like if they existed in the real world (yes, I think about a lot of weird things…). Thankfully, someone who is much more creative and crafty than myself also had the same thought, and decided to bring it to reality. AlexCF created a fine detail small statue of Leonardo based off the original red-headband comics.

Please NO, 1st I have been there from the beginning with the 4 boyz lol and I wanted to share my love with my son, who I brought to the animated TMNT........ HORRIBLE... and WTF no Shredder??? gay!

I hope you don't go all batman on the turtles and get all dark and depressing.... the turtles stand for ( fun, food, training, honor, loyalty etc.. ) People don't care if there's darker more original detail.

WE WANT THE REAL NINJA TURTLES BACK! AND SHREDDER!

Just make it with a new story and add in characters to make sequels.

    Thank you,

NINJASTYLEZ ( YES IM A NINJA FREAK ) WHY??? THE NINJAS OF THE 80'S

anyone notice that slight blood on him? that things realistic!
  • I was wearing an eye mask first.
  • Trombonedude85
The kids today have no idea what us "older" fans grew up with. The toons today are freakin' GAY. More serious movies would actually be appropriate for us "older" fans. So I say YES for more darker movies with drama, heavier action scenes, more blood, and better accurate origins of the actually stories! And this doesn't mean we have to throw away any fantasy aspect of the films. You people that want toons to be light all the time are WEAK and BORING. In Japan, more adults read comics for entertainment unlike the US. So bring on the REAL Ninja Turtles! I want to see them in the movies!

with the 25th anniversary, its fitting to have a movie that shows the real turtles. The comics where action story's with element of humor. but that radically changed in the kiddie cartoon from 87`
even peter laird have stated in an interview that he didnt like the sillyness the show did.

    @krackajap

I love those pics. They all look so badass, particularly Raphael, but he was always my favorite turtle.

I think they should make a "darker" take on it because its the only way to change it up. It cant get anymore lighthearted than past TMNT movies.
  • I.E. Cooper
    @ Tendrillar:

I agree that studios might take "dark" and turn it the wrong way. That's just an err or the studio system, trying to pander to what was recently popular. Adding gritty violence and suggestive scenes wasn't what TDK did, and any real film maker that's an artist like Nolan and the screenwriters for TDK will recognize that.

I just totally think that the Turtles could be taken WAY more seriously than they have been. They're like Loony Tunes with weapons. It's childish, and anyone who's a fanboy of the current envisionment is just trapped in their childhood. If you want lighthearted dumb turtles joking about, what, pizza? Then go right ahead and watch the old turtles.

I mean, I want a cool Turtles movie as much as I want any other good movie. I really don't care about the turtles that much, I just want actual GOOD movies to be made, and a movie based off of the TMNT cartoons is not going to be that good.
  • Tendrillar
    @ Krackajap

    Those are cool.

    @ I.E. Cooper

It's not that I am or that i think anyone should be "Anti-dark". I just think a lot of people these days are going to want to see characters from their favorite cartoons/comics reinterpreted in a dark and gritty way, even if it's not fitting. I only reference TDK because it was very successful in representing the darkness of some Batman titles. I'm all for Dark I just think it should fit.

The old TMNT comics were great, but I think that most aren't familiar with them except for die hard fans.

I guess I'd like to see a more mature representation of TMNT based on the cartoon, but not necessarily "dark". For two reasons:

I think "dark and Gritty" is going to become the one selling point for most comic and cartoon properties. This is so they will be taken seriously by hollywood execs and by people who aren't necessarily fans of the turtles. So they can sell more tickets. and it will just be a shame to see something as promising as TMNT become another rehash of what we've seen before. Or just watering it down with mindless violence and suggestive situations.

Also, there's a great opportunity here to get really creative with the turtles. In the old comics they got into all kinds of weird and zany adventures. Aliens, mysterious babes, robots.

I guess all in all a mix of the two wouldn't be bad. I'd just hate to see it end up like TMNT in a bleak and dark universe.
    But that's just me.

  • Can someone tell me what the original comic was under? Was it a Mirage comic book or some other company? And was it called teenage mutant ninja turtles or was the name on the comic TMNT?? I want to try finding some of these, bet there pretty expensive.
  • Hendo
that's pretty sweet looking. I'd love for them to make a TMNT movie with turtles like this
  • Smoke
    To Jank

Cool thanks man i didnt know that, i never read the original comics i was just a little kid when i started wacthing the tv series
  • Oi Vey
I've thought it was funny that in the original comics, they all had RED masks but it was all printed in BLACK AND WHITE.

You 'hardcore turtles' guys have to admit: that different colors does help the turtles.'
  • gah
    awesome.
  • starscream9289
    Looks like he's in pain.....?
  • spoilerkid
    they shuld put REAL turtles!!!
  • ninja_turtle
actually this sculpt looks more to be based on the sorta "elseworlds" run of tmnt comics by MIKE ZULLI. check it out here

    http://tcplanet.thetechnodrome.com/MichaelZulli...

Also If i hear one more person saying "oh they are only making the turtles dark because of the dark knight" I will find you and kick you in the nuts and make your read an actual TMNT comic through your tears so you can actually have a clue as to what you are talking about. Stop talking out of your ass people.
  • Agent J
Wow that is pretty serious looking.
  • danno
    It must have taken ages.
  • SR
damn you jank you beat me to it.

however i do think they look cool
  • SR
if memory serves me correct, in the original comics they all had red bands, it was the port into child cartoons that added the different colours.
  • jank
    @ Smoke

they all sported red in the original comics.
but you can tell this is leonardo because of his sword.
  • Smoke
This looks creepy, by the way you said the red one was leonardo isnt the red one raphael?
  • I.E. Cooper
I agree with the first post. I wouldn't mind seeing a movie based off of this design. It would of course seem way less "teenage"...but that thing looks awesome. Maybe a little change to the face to make it more humanly expressive would fix the issue of them seeming "human".

And, seriously are people going to be all anti-"Dark" now? It's not *because* of The Dark Knight. Are you kidding? Dark Batman comics existed before those movies were even imagined. It's a dark story.

Anyways, making a different version of story doesn't erase the original. If you like the old Turtles, watch the old turtles. No one's sh*tting all over *your* parade by making something new. I'm so tired of fanboys throwing fits when their old pals are re-envisioned. "Oh noes, this movie doesn't fulfill all MY selfish expectations, it should have never been made!"
  • J.D.
I think I saw these in Cloverfield...
  • spoilerkid
na wat if they had a movie like ninja turtles nd they wer real turtles dressed up as ninjas nd like they wuld move nd have voice overs that will be cool lol but i did try that i put 4 turtles in the sewer nd a rat wen i was a kid nd i went to go look for them the next day nd they wer eaten by ants nd they wer dead how sad

  • south texas terror
The Dark Turtle. that actually looks kinda creepy
  • Jimmy Weber
Hahaha...I was gonna say "TMNT: Directed by Christopher Nolan."

I agree with Tendrillar...there are some things that don't need to be serious. I think the name "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" explains it all.

the original comics were really dark, regardless of dark knight. i think a dark TMNT film would be more in line with the comics. the creators Eastman and laird had little to do with the cartoon series which most people remember.
  • Tendrillar
Boo. Everyone wants serious and dark. Lets move on in this Post TDK world. Turtles would be so weird and depressing if not for the lightheartedness(?). I say keep it light. Perhaps something along the same tone as Iron Man. All I ask from more turtles is great, creative fight scenes, a simple premise, depth of character and lots of fun. P.S. More April.

Also, this sculpt is pretty cool looking.
  • Am I the only one who wouldn't mind seeing a live-action TMNT movie with turtles that look like this? Maybe a more serious movie without as much of a comedy focus as the cartoons.
