Every Single Dark Knight Sequel Rumor EVER is B.S.

David Goyer, one of The Dark Knight screenwriters of , confirms what we already knew - All those Dark Knight sequel rumors:

“It’s all B.S. ALL of it,” Goyer told MTV. “Chris and I haven’t even talked about it. He quite understandably is taking a long, long vacation and wants to purge himself.”

So No, Christopher Nolan has not yet signed on for a third film. No story has been discussed beyond the point of a few musings during production of the last film, no actors have been contacted about auditions, and no actors have been cast.

  • McDandy
then how do you explain michael caine's statement? was that BS too? or is this "david goyer" just trying to stir things up more than they already are
  • The Shocker
Does that mean you won't print every single NEW rumor going forward? Or am I too optimistic?

The Daily Mail is reporting that Warner Bros. is paying $50 million to resurrect Heath Ledger to play The Joker again.
  • The Shocker: We only print rumors from reliable sources. Michael Caine is considered a good source of information even though he clearly had the wrong info. Production Weekly is accurate 99.9% of the time. Any newspaper story should be reported, and analyzed.

that's the beauty of this franchise: in the year leading up to the release of TDK, it was fun as hell to report/read all gossip, rumors, pictures, fan videos, etc that had to do with the film. and now, leading up to the next one, it will still be just as fun to hear any and all possibilities of what is to come. i like it, and i know i am repeating myself, but that is what makes this so special - it has become more than just the 2hr+ theater experience, and i enjoy the fuck out of it. plus, if most of it is BS, that still leaves some element of suprise in the info age where spoilers run rampant. i don't know why people get pissed about all this and see it as bad or annoying. it lets our imaginations go crazy, and since most of us will never be lucky enough to work in the entertainmetn field, this is where we can indulge.

    @ shocker

we're still finding it funny to make inappropriate ledger jabs? really?
  • McDandy
    The Shocker: buuuuuuurn
  • Batman
Vacation? He could release 2 hours of batman growling again and still make nearly a billion dollars world wide... Oh well, he must be taking some time to build castles out of money or something.
  • prophecy_projectz
No Suprise at this. I dont think we'll see any official talk until at least a year from now. Heck I expect Nolan to make another movie before the sequel so expect the sequel in maybe 2012, which Im cool with.
  • Reggie
Nolan's taking a break stacking up all of his money and sliding down from the top like the Joker. Let's just hope he doesn't light it on fire.
  • orange cinema
    @ prophecy projectz

totally agree with you; i hope we don't see another bat film til 12' or even 13'. a good ol original nolan film like the prisoner, or something else would be great for him and for us - let the frenzy build. this is not a franchise that will lose interest if it goes away for a while.
  • Ryan
The Dark Knight was a great film that is why they should not make another batman ever in our lifetime. Heath is dead, nobody will ever top that, so making another film with out the Joker in it would be like making an Xmen movie with out wolverine! ( I hate Marval ) So yeah....anyway....but I trust if Nolan takes us back to Gotham that it will be DARK.

“He is taking a long, long vacation.”

It's the already famous "James Cameron effect". Hopefully he will remember to do the third one in less than a decade...
  • McDandy
Rod: Yeah i know...how long is he gonna be on "vacation" anyways? He's been on vacation for over a month now (probably longer i don't keep up w/ it)
  • starscream9289
Come on people, let the man take a break! He's just getting the creative juices flowing!

    &&Ryan

They could make an X-Men movie without Wolverine if it's based on the 1st generation of X-Men (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Angel, & Ice Man).
  • Thankyoufor
thank god no johnny depp rumors anymore woo!
  • Ohiofile
Vote NO on Batman 3. Terminator should have stopped at two. Alien should have stopped at two. Superman should have stopped at two. Godfather should have stopped at two. Spider-man should have stopped at two. X-men should have stopped at two.

When was there a good part 3? Don't be surprised when Batman 3 sucks. I hope Nolan never comes back to Gotham and instead takes the lessons that he learned doing the series and applies them to other films that he wants to do.
  • Two
You forgot about Indiana Jones and the last crusade, it was the best of the serie and the part three, you twerp.
  • Well, let's not forget that David S. Goyer himself is 100% B.S...

Although, I am very much in the belief that Nolan hasn't even thought of a sequel to THE DARK KNIGHT yet.
  • jimbo stewart
    @ Ohiofile

Die Hard 3, Last Crusade, Return of the Jedi, Day of the Dead, Friday the 13th Part 3, The Enforcer...

This whole stop because it's a 3 is just ludicrous. Do you really think Christopher Nolan would turn in a haphazard project after delaying The Dark Knight? The guy knows how to make a good movie.

    Give him a shot.

Those other part 3's have so many reasons why they didn't live up. Give him a chance you nattering nabob.
  • Zach
how do we know Goyer's not BS-ing?
  • Kokushi
jimbo stewart, you are correct, also ROTK (yes it was filmed all 3 at the same time but they didnt release them as one movie).
  • Well, duh.
  • Pilled
After having the last one shoved down my throat for so long, I hope its a couple of years (if ever) before another.
  • Nish
I'd imagine Nolan will want to release a few other films before Batman 3. The interest in those films could be quite big as evry interviewer tries to get him to say something about batman 3. Its a project not worth rushing.
  • R_McCall
Goyer = Man who made Blade 3. There is no point of this post other than to point that out. Goyer = Man who made Blade 3. I heard that while Nolan and his bro' were writing TDK Goyer was made to fellate a dog for their entertainment. Goyer = Man who made Blade 3... the end. ps: when the trailer hits then I'll start caring about Batman 3 - until then I'll just enjoy watching TDK over and over and over and over...
  • christopher t
i agree with shocker's first statement.
this is not a story if it was already obviously bullshit.
  • Captain Awesome
    Booya!

Nolan will do what he did after BB. Take a break and work on another film and then come back.

Can't wait when he starts work on the third film :)
  • E
@Ohiofile....that is exactly why a third nolan batman film needs to be made....thats the challenge that he and bale and the rest of the crew have said that they want to tackle. They want to make a great third installment because its challenging and it is something that has not been done very often.

Also alot of the 3third installments are terrible because of studio influence, and changing directors i.e. Superman 3, X-men 3, Return of the Jedi was supposed to have Speilberg at the helm but was changed to Richard Marquand because Lucas left the union.

OhioFile this is why Nolan needs to make a 3rd batman and make it great to prove that it can be done and done right.
  • darth ballz
whatever! i find it extremely hard to swallow that batman 3 isn't at some stage of preproduction, even if it's just round table discussions at warner bros. offices. chris nolan doesn't own these characters, warner bros. does. they wont want to make B3 without nolan, but they will if they have to. TDK is the second highest grossing picture in history, the thought that they're not already thinking about how to make even more money by producing another is insane!
  • David
    Why so serious?
  • Merv
Michael Caine said he was talking to an executive. The exec was talking about how to top Heath Ledger as the Joker. I don't think Michael Caine meant to imply that Hoffman and Depp are in, or even being considered yet - just that the exec had a good idea.

That's how it sounded to me anyway.
  • Merv
I agree with Darth Ballz (lol) btw. The studio will not want to sit on a goldmine like this for long. They'd be foolish to do anything without first getting Nolan on board, but studios aren't known for their patience. 'Some money now' is better than 'more money later' it seems. I hope Batman 3 is the exception.
  • Let's see here:

My dick needs horse tranqs to go down.
    Goyer's dick discovered; 6-feet , under ground.

My dick party's all night long.
Goyer's dick threw up at the glimpse of a thong.

My dick knows all the spots.
Goyer's dick sits forgotten and rots.

    My dick fast like crossfire!
Goyer's dick - consumed by hellfire!

    My dick - superhuman powers.
    Goyer's dick can't even deverginze a flower.

My dick - a KungFu master.
Goyer's dick - an STD disaster!

Goyer doesn't know his fingers from his ass.
If I cross him on the street I'm going to spit in front of him.. look him in the eyes and be like: "How do you like them apples Nigga!?"
  • Stripey
Or he could be resting his artistic mind. Coming up with and directing a whole flippin' movie takes a LOT of creative energy. He doesn't go to work for six hours a day, go home, watch TV and go to sleep. When a movie is in production, nobody gets any down-time. His brain's probably just about flatlined.
  • T3 was good and Terminator Salvation is gonna be awesome... when there's a story arc going on , don't you want some closure? u just can't end it.. point being there are lots of part 3's that were good! Nolan just needs to take his time and not rush it./
