Sunshine Cleaning Movie Trailer

What happened to Sunshine Cleaning? The film premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, but was met with some disappointment when attendees realized that it wasn’t the next Little Miss Sunshine. A fair comparison considering much of the pre-festival buzz came from the fact that it was produced by the same guys, has “Sunshine” in the title and even features a couple of the same cast members, including Academy Award winner Alan Arkin. If you can look beyond those preconceptions, you will probably enjoy this dark and sometimes morbid dramedy.

Rose Lorkorswki (Amy Adams), a former high school cheerleader and now a thirty-something maid, is trying to create a better life for herself and eccentric eight-year-old son Oscar. Her burn-out younger sister Norah (Emily Blunt) still lives at home with their father Joe (Alan Arkin), who;s on the latest of a life-long string of get-rich-quick schemes. When Rose learns of the big money to be made in the crime scene cleaning and bio-hazard removal business, she and Norah partner up to create their own company, Sunshine Cleaning. The film sold to Overture films for an estimated $2 million. A July 2008 release date was originally announced, but now the film is scheduled to hit theaters sometime in 2009. Check out the trailer below. Tell me what you think in the comments!

    wow, looks awesome. can't wait.
  • That was a solid trailer. Nice to see a heartwarming tale with a morbid lean to it. I did notice that Arkin seems to be playing the edgy, supportive grandpa character from Little Miss Sunshine. Not that it's a bad character, just we've seen it before.

I rather liked the trailer. Cleaning up a crime scene -shivers- I have a pretty strong stomach, but that would not be a job I'd want.

The trailer looks great! Although I am slightly biased, being utterly in love with Amy Adams. I hope her next movie is about falling in love with a commenter on Slashfilm. And at the end of the movie there'll be a big twist - it's not a movie, it's a documentary! And then we make lots of babies.

    Looks pretty good to me.
With the leading ladies in this one I'd be sporting a boner while dead bodies are tossed all over the place. Awkward.

    Wow...
That is how you do a trailer. I (think I) get the gist of the movie, I have a feel for the characters, there's a great mix of humor and drama towards the end and above all, it makes me want to see this movie.
I hadn't heard anything about it save for the rumblings all those months ago, but now I can't wait for it.
It may not be the next "Little Miss Sunshine," but rather something wholly new and exciting.

(P.S. Amy Adams can do anything)
  • A good drama with some morbid humor thrown in. Can't wait.
  • Ghost
Dare I say it's a bit different then most stuff out there right now and it looks pretty well acted. Worth a look.

I would watch Amy Adams do anything. This includes cleaning up someone's brains off the floor.

Look's interesting. Maybe at least it will open up some people to the "after the act" of useless death in a way of "hindsight". Mainly people who project it:suicidal or homocidal or other(Darwin Awards)!
  • Jennifer
The trailer was great! I especially loved that last bit with the mattress...Is there an official release date set yet?

Screenplay writer Megan Holley has an imaginative mind with a bit of a twist! Great actors and an interesting story line. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
