There was a time long ago when such a photo would have qualified as the forefather of the spoiler; alas, Jason Voorhees will have to reveal more than his mongoloid mug to impress in the era of TMZ. HorrorBid has the first look at actor Derek Mears unmasked and made-up as the Crystal Lake Killah in Platinum Dunes‘ 2009 reboot of Friday the 13th. At first glance, there’s a little facial reconstruction in the eye area, but overall not a huge stretch from what’s come before. And IMHO not half as scary as the remake’s Young Jason.

    Looks like The Toxic Avenger.

Eh, Ive never been a big fan of Jason's disfigurement, i always thought it was kind of cheesy. He looks pretty cool though with his mask on however.
  • Eric B.
Looks less tame than the original Jason
  • Adam B.
Looks pretty lame to me. :/
getting a bad vibe from what we've seen from this movie-- which isn't much, but yeah.
  • MrMad2001
This looks like a screen cap from Scary Movie 7. It looks like Rocky Dennis got a haircut.

Still would've liked a spoiler warning...

Man,Bruce Willis is Jason, who woulda thunk?

Not that i was gonna see this movie anyway, But....

Remember in a reel world about 10 years ago when we didnt have movie sites. Movies were special when you went to them because the commerical didnt give much away. It was just a spoiler. Now we have websites that give away all the magic to a movie everyday....

    Thanks for nothing guys!!!!

Gimme a break,,, how does this ruin a Friday the 13th film reboot.

    You ppl crack me up.

Who the hell would even pay to see a Friday the 13th remake.
    REAL6 what a tragedy this is. :-p

I will reserve judgement on this being scary or not for when I see how they chose to light the movie.
The way he looks obviously doesn't look scary in that picture, because it's a crappy pic with soft lighting. He could look scary with proper hard lighting. Can't tell from the pic, but I hope that they make his face dirty and slimy/wet too, I think that will add to the scary factor a bit, plus it would make sense, he's been chasing kids around in the woods all night, chances are he worked up a sweat. Wait. Does Jason sweat?

    @real6

It's your choice to read these websites.

Although I do agree that for some movies it is much better to go in to them knowing nothing at all. But it is still possible to appreciate a movie even with the spoiler laden internet. After all, there are more aspects to a movie than just the element of surprise.

    @790

Agreed. Honestly, its that big of a shock to anyone of you to see Jason disfigured?

But hey, i got to say. Though its not saying much, this actually looks better then the last few Friday movies.
  • Dude! You guys totally ruined a piece of crap remake I wasn't going see anyway! I wanted to be surprised by a villian who's been in 12 movies already! I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU YOU SONS OF B'S!!!!
  • Roberto
I know a reboot doesn not equal a remake, but something that has been bugging me since first reading about this is the fact that for one, Jason wasn't even in the original (unless you count the hallucination at the end). And secondly, they keep harping on how he's going to move fast and not "teleport" which never occured in the original either. I guess what they are doing is mashing all the sequals together and calling it a "reboot." Anyway, I'll stick with the original.

But hey guys, I was being sarcastic if you could read between the lines.

And i agree with you 790:

Id rather still watch the old ones. Plus we got 10 Jason movies not counting that peice of shit Freddy Vs. Shit.

They were supossed to make 13 total. Why a remake. grrrrrrrrr
  • Looks old school...not bad.
  • To all the complainers about this "reboot":

I own all the Fridays and have since started re-watching them. Even if this is a mash up of all the movies, you've watched Jason 11 times in 11 different movies. (OK well, technically 10) If this comes out better or equal to any of those movies, you should be satisfied.

    Here's the formula:

Horny, skinny dipping camp counselors die one by one involving crazy, creative deaths by a big lug wearing a hocky mask.

You've sat through the SAME exact formula 11 times. Stop complaining and let's have a good time when this comes out in the theater.

It's not like they're remaking Blade Runner or anything!
  • Mike
Geeze. Y'all are treating a bunch of crap movies like they are some sacrosanct great works. I'm not down on them, but be honest: this is a movie ripping off a series of sequels that ripped off an original that was ripping off Halloween. Friday the 13th parts 1-100 might have been fun, but that's it.
  • zachy Legend
Hey...the accepted term to use would be "downs syndrome mug"....mongoloid is just not cool anymore. I have mongoloids in my family asshole!
  • blackmeat187
am i missing the point somewhere along the line?
jason wasn't the original killer. mrs. voorhees was, she killed kevin bacon and all of 'em in the first one to avenge jason the VICTIM.
so how you gonna now spin that back around to have jason as the original killer? huh?
    i'm waiting...
    thought not.
it's bad enough that john carpenter's mickey-take answer when asked to come back on board for halloween h20 ("i'll only do it if michael myers and jamie lee curtis get fired into space and then he spends the rest of the movie stalking her arond the ship."- i'm paraphrasing slightly but that was the gist of it) became the plot to jason X but now a prequel that doesn't know it's arse from an axe wound?
    jog on.
name me one good (and i mean GOOD, not okay/acceptable/not too bad) remake or 're-imagining' that's come out in the past five years and i'll eat my own eyes through my back-passage (trying to cuss without using 'hate-speech', or somesuch shit. oops).
    GONZO-triple-X

Hei men,i have heard they are planning to remake in a couple of years alla the eleven films of the Jason's saga. What do you thimk about it?Personally i am very glad abutt it,Jason always lives in my heart.
  • Bobby Boy
Oh my gawd, if I read one more "wait, Jason wasn't even in the first movie, it was his mother that was the killer! blah blah whine whine!" I'm gonna puke. This is a REBOOT movie! It's NOT going to be a frame by frame remake of the first Friday movie! There are going to be some familiar elements, and there are going to be some things that are NEW. I don't see how this concept can be so hard to grasp. I mean, think about it, would anyone today go see a Friday movie if Jason wasn't in it? The film makers aren't idiots.

Now, it looks like they are going to take elements from at least the first 3 movies. Jason's mother will be in the movie, probably in a flashback or something. Jason will run around and kill and will eventually end up in a hockey mask. Perhaps they'll even incorporate a little of Part 4 and kill him, who knows?
