The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Movie Trailer #2

Paramount has released the second movie trailer for David Fincher’s The Curious Case on Benjamin Button is now online. I was bit disappointed after seeing 20 minutes of selected scenes from the film at Telluride, but I can’t help getting excited again after seeing this latest television spot.

Watch the trailer in High Definition on Apple.com.

The official plot synopsis: “I was born under unusual circumstances.” And so begins “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: a man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. We follow his story, set in New Orleans from the end of World War I in 1918, into the 21st century, following his journey that is as unusual as any man’s life can be. Directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett with Taraji P. Henson, Tilda Swinton, Jason Flemyng, Elias Koteas and Julia Ormond, “Benjamin Button,” is a grand tale of a not-so-ordinary man and the people and places he discovers along the way, the loves he finds, the joys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button hits theaters on Christmas Day 2008.

I am really looking forward to this film. I don't know what to expect from it and the trailer and TV spots have really sold the "quirkyness" of the film to me and I am IN!

The last shot of him looking out of him being young. But I hope they cut it down since early cuts have been running 20 mins too long so people get board.

I can't wait for this film!
  • I will watch anything Fincher makes.
  • Fincher + Pitt + Blanchett = guaranteed ticket sale from me. I just sure hope Fincher can swallow some truth and peel it back as best he can. I doubt audiences will tolerate another loooong and cumbersome piece like Zodiac.

I think this still looks amazing, I'd watch anything Fincher does...he could make paint drying interesting if he shot it the right way..lol

This looks great and I'll be seeing it for sure, but does anyone else get the feeling it's going to be one of those movies that is so depressing that you can only bring yourself to watch it once?

    Cate Blanchett, enough said.

I am really looking forward to this movie. Much moreso now from this trailer.
  • Looks beautiful.

Man, another amazing trailer next to "W."!

First of all, I'm really impressed at the pacing of this trailer; it seems every other movie trailer these days is a series of flashing images and clips crammed on top of each other incoherently (*cough* Valkyrie *cough*) . But here, here's something quite different. Here we get a slow pacing, soft music instead of blaring orchestras or fake heart thumps, and a series of contemplative, beautiful images and cinematography to compliment the ideas about life this film potentially appears to explore. Kudos to whomever edited this trailer.

Also, I think this trailer could likely be a strong litmus test for the ultimate tone and pacing of the film - something slower, more thoughtful, and full of more quietly beautiful moments than what is common for Hollywood films these days. Great change of pace in my opinion, and really something I'm very much looking forward to. I was intrigued originally by the idea of the film and its source material/cast and crew, and now I'm very much intrigued by the narrative and characters of the film itself.

I don't see how this could possibly be a disappointment. It's wonderful.

This new trailer is excellent. Even more excited than before. Beautiful looking film. Pitt looks like a badass on that motorcycle, James Dean-like.

    @ Captain Howdy,

I thoroughly enjoyed Zodiac. It was perfect in it's cut. In fact, I wanted more.

Man, for such a pretty-boy, Brad Pitt is a damn-fine actor.

Oh, and ditto on Blanchett and Fincher.

Does anyone else think the war footage in reverse is a direct homage to Kubrick's Paths of Glory? I couldn't help but connect the two. The film looks gorgeous.
