WTF: Crash - The TV Series Trailer

Is it just me or does the television show adaptation of Paul Haggis’ Academy Award winning film Crash look really REALLY bad?

• GregoryV
The music makes it look really bad. Someone rescore this.
• jimmy knowsit
yeah it does look pretty bad but i do like the addition of a mexican that has hopped the border being involved is pretty original besides that it looks like a crappy fx series.
• Oh No
OMFG... Why?/No!
• I can't tell whether it'll be good or bad... but to me, it looks like it's only about the seediness and corruption of the movie, without any of the hope and redemption :(
• Aaron
Nope, it's not just you Peter.
• Miscreantik
it looks like the greatest tv show to ever exist, period.
• TrickyNat
I agree, I really enjoy the show, and I recommend it
• What a shock! Dennis Hopper involved in yet another shitty project.
• se7en
Wow.

It really looks pitiful.
• Bill
yup, looks as crappy as the movie. that movie was terrible. over the top and pedantic.
• actually i can see it as a TV-series, really!
• TrickyNat
Da da da!!
Yes Man..
• Christopher Marc
couldn't be worse than a majority of shit that's on American television...I can't take another reality show with some has been celebrity....I'd say give it a chance, the movie wasn't all that great to start with...
• Chromey
Looks like the TV show that movie deserves.
• bp
holy jesus that was awful
• Rob
I <3 Paul Haggis.

It's the sense of touch. In any real city, you walk, you know? You brush past people, people bump into you. In L.A., nobody touches you. We're always behind this metal and glass. I think we miss that touch so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something.
• The film was amazing but you're right, this one looks strange...I agree with the first poster about the music which is just wrong. Also, the mini-series seems to rehash the film's storylines instead of trying to do something original. The main appeal for now is Dennis Hopper. I'll still watch it though, who knows?
• YoungZe
Looks likes Third Watch mixed with Shield and an extra portion of pure shit.
• Fir3Wolf
There taking a good thing and are not ruining it which isn't to surprising. Not the first time I've seen that happen and it probably won't be the last. This show is a pass.
• joelnstuff
I think we miss that good shows so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something
• Elissa
UGH! I just threw up in my mouth!

Overrated movie. Ill-conceived series. Period.
• pete
Looks like a total car crash of a trailer

excuse the pun !
• Annie
Ok, did the editing of the trailer bother anyone else other than me? I think it made my eyes bleed. ::checks:: yup, there's a squirt
• Alex
You guys make it sound like the movie didn't suck to begin with...

But yeah, this looks pretty terrible.
• John Spiker
Damn! I couldn't even watch the whole thing. It's completely absurd what they have done with the material.

The whole idea of the Crash movie, at least in my opinion, was to touch on the usual stereotypes and racial issues in a sophisticated yet ironic way. From what I saw in the trailer, it's about as subtle as Ben Affleck's mustache in School Ties.
• E
That looks like something that belongs on Fox not showtime, thats just terrible. I dont think that would last on Network TV, there is no way it will last on premium cable
• igroveman
definitely smells weak but the clearest thing to me is that we are watching some really bad advertising / editing / marketing.
• John Spiker
Sorry about the error guys; Ben's mustache appeared in Glory Daze.
• &E B.
Yes this looks like total shit. The movie was total shit too, but this looks even worse. That was probably my most despised Oscar moment. That and the nomination of A History of Violence. What the fuck is wrong with people. Those movies were horrible. Utter trash.
• Did you just call two of the only halfway decent movies of 2005 utter trash, &E B?

Anyways, this looks like someone took away everything that made the movie so great and threw it out the window and tried to make this look "edgy." Even though there's nothing in that promo that wouldn't be unacceptable on FX, so what's the point of it being on premium cable if you're not going to go all the way? Shame on everybody involved in this project.
• Captain Awesome
haha, this looks as bad as the movie itself.
• Jmoney
everyone keeps saying the movie was bad but they give no reasons, what was wrong with the movie, i enjoyed it
• eisnein
here's a reason-

it was a combination of a watered down magnolia and the ORIGINAL movie CRASH.
the fact that americans though this film was deep and provocative is just enough bs to get it made into a tv show! OMG RACISTS!!!
• a new "original" series? wtf.
this looks so incredibly dreadful.
it really is laughable.
wtf.
• Mostskillz
WTF!? They will ruin the movie by making it a "tv series." This show clearly has absolutely nothing in common w/the movie other than the title. Can we change the title please??
• dlb
such a waste of money.

The best part about this so called "crash" series is that it looks more like the vein of a tony scott film. Although some will argue that it looks like the shield, I refuse to bring its name down to the dirt with this series because that's a series worthy of your time.

At the end of the day, a majority of us will know it will most likely be canned. It might, but there is no intrigue generated from the trailer.
• theanner
I am so happy to hear that I'm not alone in thinking the movie was horrible. Horrible! Whenever I mentioned my dislike to anyone, they'd always give me the most aghast look.
• What's funnier about this is that Paul Haggis is involved in the whole thing. I watched the behind the scenes making of this all last weekend, and cried inside.
• edog
Brokeback = Robbed
• Elissa
@ theanner: Me too! Then they always reply "Oh, it wasn't that bad." Like hell it wasn't!

The only segment of the movie that had any emotional depth at all for me was Matt Dylan's relationship with his father.

Sandra Bullock was so horribly miscast, and her character was so over-the-top ridiculous, that she couldn't even say her lines with a straight face.

And yes, people are racist. Yes, people are a-holes. And sure, we're all connected and blah blah freaking blah. I GET IT. As a general rule, I hate preachy films and I hate being emotionally manipulated.

So there, Jmoney, that's what's wrong with Crash.
• Roque
Why was it bad? Because it tried to pull off the whole Roger Altman-style wtf-veryone-is-actually-connected "network narrative" using overwrought acting, boringly "tasteful" cinematography, and pedantic writing, while exalting itself as a profound commentary on modern racism. Please tell me what anyone can learn from that terrible movie about racism, except that Hollywood guilt about it can propel a terrible movie into "Oscar territory."

The editing, writing, cinematography, acting, and casting for the TV show, judging by the trailer alone, don't exactly bode well.
• Matt
Crash is the single worst piece of generic, calculated, overstated bullshit "cinema" to ever grace the earth. And now a TV show? God help us. Paul Haggis is a fucking hack, people.
• That was a really strange trailer.
• NC-17forkids
Crash the movie, was the most melo dramatic piece of garbage I had seen in a long time. The fact that it had Sandra Bullock in it alone was comical. I live in West Hollywood, and I think the only people who thought that movie was moving were people who have never lived in this city.
The series would be better if it was on Skinamax and was about inter-racial gang fucks.

side thought: Dennis Hopper hasn't done that good of acting since his cameo on Entourage.
• Captain Awesome
"I live in West Hollywood, and I think the only people who thought that movie was moving were people who have never lived in this city."

That's exactly what I told people after I watched it.
• Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
• Torim
they mention its an original show? how is this original if its based on a movie of the same name?
• A.J.
Yeesh. That looks terrible, they got King Koopa though! That's cool! (rolls eyes)
• ZOMGZ looks like sh*t.
• FourEyes
What the heck was that? From the producers of Crash...NOT the writers. What was up with all the random sex? It looks like there's 30 percent content and 70 percent sex.
