No Live Action Ninja Turtles Movie After All

Remember that Live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles item from earlier in the week? Apparently it is completely false according to TMNT writer Stephen Murphy’s blog the 5th Turtle. Sorry guys, it seems like a lot of online news outlets fell for the bait, and we were one of them. But you never know, it sometimes takes a couple rumors like this to make a Hollywood studio realize there might be a market for such a film…

I hope the studios will realize. Those first turtles movies are where its at.

Wha tha fluff??? This has seriously let me down. I'm hurt........NOOOOOO!!!!!
  • thank god. I can't take any more of this 80s nostalgia crap-fest!
  • Agent J
ANGRY BROOMSTICK!!! You speak nonsense!!! Get on the ball Hollywood and resurrect the TMNT.
  • Quan
I was pretty excited for this. Damn that's a disappointment.
  • Superman
Shit. a live action/cgi mix would be a great way of bringing the turtles back again. Such a shame. They're doing this new series called "back to the sewer" because fast forward was such shit so it'd have been nice for the movies to get back to basics too. Oh well.

The live action TMNT movie is still in the works, this is from Peter Laird's blog:

“Yes, we had a movie meeting yesterday (one of several we’ve had over the last few months). As Mirage policy is to not discuss details until an actual deal is in place, I must be circumspect. However, I can say this — the people we met with are enthusiastic and energetic and very much want to do a TMNT movie, and I believe they have the wherewithal to accomplish that goal. And it is almost entirely certain that if we do the movie with these folks, it will be a live action/CGI hybrid. — PL”

Kevin Eastman's comments should be taken with a grain of salt since he no longer holds in interest in the TMNT property.

GOOD!! I would not like to see
    the turtles get butchered up
    like the DRAGONBALL movie!!!
  • Crusher Creel
THANK YOU LORD. I'm sick of the TMNT in any format. Eastman and Laird have coasted 25 years on that one trick pony. Enough's enough.

What are you talking about? Don't see those guys in the press or out peddling turtle junk ever.

When I read that the original director might return, I smelled something fishy...
