Rumor: Tom Cruise to Voice Animated Villain in Shrek 4?

Cinemablend is reporting that Tom Cruise is being considered to voice one of the villain characters in Dreamworks Animation’s Shrek Goes Fourth. Cuise is doing everything he can to restore his name. First his hilarious cameo in Tropic Thunder, then news that he’s working with Sam Raimi on a superhero adaptation and now this. Shrek Goes Fourth is scheduled to hit theaters on May 21st 2010.

  • I think you're all taking crazy pills. Cruise SUCKED in Tropic Thunder. By far the worst part of that movie.

    Well, he was pretty freaking hilarious in Tropic Thunder... why not Shrek.
    However, I really feel Shrek should just stop at this point. The first two installments were funny and original, the third just started to get old on me. I really think they should leave it the way it is.

    By the way, love that you used the pic from South Park. Tom Cruise in the closet...

    I think you are on crazy pills. Tom Cruise was freakin hillarious. Even though I still don't like him as a person, I could see him being the villan in Shrek 4 even though I agree with A Better Class of Criminal that we really don't need Shrek 4 unless they come with a more original plot for the series

    I completely agree; Tom Cruise was nothing special in TT. The theater was painfully quiet (i.e. no laughter) every time his character came on.

    I don't know why everyone on this site gushes over Cruise's performance; it really wasn't good at all even though I went in WANTING to find it funny.

    Tommy boy should continue to do foul-mouthed cameos in films he's not micro-managing. Like Magnolia, and now Tropic thunder. No one slings profanity like Tom Cruise. If he had a resume, it would be listed as a "special skill".

  • I can't believe they're doing a 4th Shrek movie after the unfunny and sloppy Shrek the 3rd. I took my 2 year old to it and she wanted to leave.

    I mean, starting a kids movie off with a death and a funeral? WTF?!

    No more Shreks please.

    Big Tom is running scared. How did he become the asshole so quickly? It's not like Travolta, Smith etc. aren't Scientologists. Isaac Hayes was one and people loved him. It's a shame. All Tom needs is a bad-ass flick where he's shooting people and getting revenge a la "Man on Fire" or "Payback." Get Tony Scott or the guys from "Crank" to direct. He'd be back in no time. He needs me as his manager.
