Watchmen Court Trial Set for January

Los Angeles federal judge Gary Allen Feess has set a January 6th 2009 trial date for 20th Century Fox’s Watchmen lawsuit against Warner Bros.  Discovery and deposition proceedings will take place for the rest of the year. This is some what good news for Watchmen fans, as it was initially rumored that the court trial would take place much later, possibly delaying the release of the film until 2010. Warner Bros has yet to postpone the announced March 6th 2009 release date.

    This is good news that the start date is before the released date, but i think the Judge is going to stop the release date when the case has started, which could be a month before the release date.

    But i think that Warner want the film to be released when it is but what somthing that they havent sayed to the public that they want.

    I can bet this will end as an out of court settlement. WB will give them a good chunk of money from their own pocket. WB will move on, publish the film.

    I can see Fox's point of view, but ultimately they are simply disgruntled because the project never went any where under their own wing. With "classics" such as DragonBall on the horizon; it's easy to see why Fox wants a chunk of the profit off Watchmen or to stop the film from being release altogether... Which I'd rather not happen as Dox did nothing to contribute to the project to begin with and would do absolutely nothing if the film is indeed blocked.
