/Film reader Landon V sent over this teaser trailer for Kevin James‘ new comedy Mall Cop. Judging by this viral teaser trailer, it looks like this movie is going to be pretty bad (not that we ever have high hopes for a Kevin James comedy).

The video begins as a person with a video camera is following a skateboarder as he destroys public property (really, how lame and generic can you get?)and of course, Kevin James - the Mall Cop shows up to put a stop to this mess. The film tells the story of a mall security guard (played by Kevin James) who becomes an unlikely hero when his mall is taken hostage by a group of thieves. Ugly Betty star Jayma Mays plays James’ love interest. And just like in real life, Jayma Mays falls in love with a fat mall cop on a super powered Segway.

    it's formulaic peter, but don't apply realistic boundaries here. it's a situational comedy. it's a movie.

    go down your favorite list of movies and start applying the realism deal. ;)
  • oh, c'mon--that was awesome. okay, maybe it's because i'm an ex-skater and my first skateboard was a mike v., so i'm, er, riding on some nostalgia here, but still, i lol'd at that "it's government" bit. kevin james is such a putz.

    this is some shitty viral marketing.
    not only is it obviously fake, but if anything it just makes mike valley look like a huge dick rather then interesting me in this mall cop character. its just not funny at all.

  • I think this is actually from a skate video and Kevin James just happens to cameo in it in his role as the mall cop... I saw this on a skate video site.

    That was actually pretty funny...if they avoid slapstick and fart jokes, and focus on the black comedy - there could be something here.

I don't know what I hate more.... james awful stache, the stupid character hes portraying, the premise, or the two idiots skating and filming..... I need to go this video makes me feel the need to shower to get the dirty off.....

    This definitely looks like a skate video that Mike Vallely was nice enough to put James in as the cop versus beating up an actual cop (as he is used to doing). The CKY series is a definitive testament to that. Either way, I thought it was done quite well if you take it as the skate video the beginning portrayed it to be.

    dude that was just stupid. Kevin James being a pushover like that, come on that was terrible acting. Him never getting off the scooter was pretty lame too, i like the whole plot of the movie just not the way they're doing it. Teaser sucked, Peter was right.
  • It woulda been funnier if KJ snapped at the end, took MV down, and while waiting for backup, Kneeled on MV neck and accidentally kills him.... like real mall cops.

    Personally, I am a fan of Kevin James. I own the entire series of The King of Queens, and I liked him in Chuck & Larry, and LOVED him in Grilled.

    This movie? meh.. I can see it having some EPIC segway scenes though

    A) Why is there a skate ramp in a mall?

    B) How the fuck could anyone get away with that shit? He'd get his ass Rodney King'd in seconds in real life.
