The trailer for Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist has hit the web. Looks like a half-decent teen flick. And the uncomfortable delivery of Michael Cera could get me through anything, I’m pretty sure. I’m also a huge fan of teen films that takes place over the course of one night (ala Go, Can’t Hardly Wait, Superbad). As always, share your thoughts in the comments below.

Directed by Peter Sollett (Raising Victor Vargas), and based on the novel by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, Michael Cera (SuperBad) and Kat Dennings (The 40-Year-Old Virgin) star. “It all starts when Nick asks Norah to be his girlfriend for five minutes, to avoid his ex-girlfriend, who’s just walked in to his band’s show. And then, with one kiss, Nick and Norah are off on an adventure set against the backdrop of New York City-and smack in the middle of all the joy, anxiety, confusion, and excitement of a first date. This is the story about one date over one very long night, with two teenagers, both recovering from broken hearts, who are just trying to figure out who they want to be-and where the next great band is playing.”

Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist will hit theaters on October 3rd, after premiering at the Toronto Film Festival in September.

Michael's always playing the same character in just about every movie he's in. But the movie does look good.
  • Stevo
I don't really agree with the same character thing. Sometimes he plays it like he doesn't want to be a part of anything on the off chance something bad would happen, here he looks up for anything in a passive "whatever happens happens" kind of way.

That said, trailer is charming. I'll certainly see the movie if only for the cast but the story seems promising as well. Also: soundtrack gets an A+. What's not to love.
  • McGruff
The look on the kid's face after he headbutts the other guy is priceless
  • Palmer
Looks interesting, I might just actually go see it.
  • aaron
trailer looks bad; she looks like macaulay culkin.
  • Derek
Based on the trailer, it would appear that Norah asks Nick and not Nick that asks Norah to be their pretend-significant-other. Maybe?
  • TheDaftPunk
Bah, you beat me to it Derek.
  • drake rivera
i am a fan of the book and i see there are some changes and additions but overall i think im going to enjoy it
  • jfive
Why do trailers show the whole freakin movie?
  • max
    Looks good
Does anyone know what this will be rated?
  • Megan
I just want to say that Michael Cera is the shit. That's about it.
  • Kat needs more love, she was great in Charlie Bartlett. . . and yes, Im excited to see George-Michael as well! Also, I second what jfive said... I"m pretty sure we just saw the ENTIRE film.
  • Annie
This looks way better than the book was.
  • orange cinema
looks great! and yes, cera is the shit.

it'll be cool to see him as scott pilgrim, who has moments of intense insecurity, but overall can be way more confident than we are use to seeing cera act.
  • DAN
i agree with all of peter's analyses. though the movie wanted to make me see it more, i didn't think it was very good... it was trying to hard to spin itself as juno-meets-superbad.
  • D.A.
im in love with kat dennings
  • dave
seconded on the headbutt everyone should rewind to 2:02 for that.. looks decent enough i guess ill probably watch it maybe on DVD or summit, wouldnt want to pay a fiver for it
  • andy
    looks like juno(minus pregnancy)+the wackness (plus 14 years)+superbad (but with a pg-13 rating)
  • Joey
i don't know how as a 22 year old male I could go see this in theaters and maintain my scrotal sack. I'll rent it with a lady though.
  • fantasma
I think that the indie rock based and not cookie cutter way of the whole thing is suprisingly great. I think the name an dfont of the title, including the tagline are lame though. I am anxious for this thing though.
  • I would agree with you Annie. The book was uneven at best, but this looks exceptional.
  • Russel
It's a cast that will carry the movie for me, even if it isn't a great teen movie... though it does look to have some great entertainment potential. Yeah, Cera might play the same character... but I haven't got tired with him yet, so I'm sold on that front. Plus Kat is very much, a likable actress. And hey, I even enjoyed the guy who headbutted Jay Berchhill when he was doing Spring Awakening... all in all, look forward to at least catching it on DVD.
  • ezekial
YES, YES, YES. Just make this PG-13 and I can see it right away with no exceptions.
  • Nathaniel
Joey, the indie rock cred from the upcoming bands in this film will save your testicles. Odd metaphor, by the way.

As a fan of both Bishop Allen (the band shown playing for a second and who plays the last song in the trailer) and We Are Scientists (played when it says "when plans get changed" on screen), this trailer is probably the best thing I've seen in a week. Woo! Can't wait for this film!

"Nick asks Norah to be his girlfriend for five minutes"???

Call me crazy but to me it looked lick Norah was doing the asking...unless the character of Norah is played by Michael Cera in which case this movie is all kinds of disturbing.

BTW: Oh look! Another one of those "indie" films promoting itself through an "alternative" "indie" soundtrack and using another indie's success as marketing strategy (the typo from Juno)...hooray! (sarcasm)

You meantion Go and Can't Hardly Wait and forget probably the most awesomest Teen movie that takes place over one night... Dazed and Confused! Or for sound track Empire Records (great soundtrack, decent movie). Man, the 80's & 90's we're great for that stuff. Even one day movies like Breakfast Club.
  • MonkeyMafia
Feels like they were filming this everyday for a month straight; should be a pretty good and accurate account of a night on the Stanton and Ludlow area...
  • sorceress
This looks nothing like the book...I think it's going to be disappointing. The book was fabulous.
  • Rena
Hey They changed the story around! At least it still looks cool.
  • Hayley
oh em gee they totally ruined the movie. if you've read the book this is nothing like itt!
fuck i hate it when they do this.
okay first of all, nick askes norah to be his girlfriend for five minutes not norah
and they dont lose the drunken friend and its a complete total opposite of the concept in the book.
  • Angela
does anybody know the title of the last song played during this trailer?? (:
  • Isaac
Can anyone tell me what song plays about halfway though the trailer before We Are Scientists? I can't find it anywhere.
  • toni
it sounds a little like oxford collapse but it s too difficult to hear it properly.....
  • Ger
does anyone know the name of the song at the end of the trailer?
  • pookie
this moving is going to be a disappointment, i see no salvatore jacket, norah asks nick, they have the plot backwards, tris isn't blonde. sighs, i was so looking foward to this
  • nebor

  • Will
