    Can i then be the first to congratulate freemason on being the first to put a comment on this page. Well done!

    I'm glad next week will be back to monday night (which is tuesday day here in oz) because I have tuesdays off at uni!
  • Best episodes are the episodes with Dave3 and Myles (individually, havent heard them together) so Im looking forward to this tomorrow at work!
  • A little too heavy on the Cam Gigandet, guys. Especially since I kept asking, Who? throughout that exchange.
  • Rufi, I really appreciate the kind words, but sadly Dave3 and I are non-concurrent on the /Filmcast again this week. Which either confirms that we're secretly the same (entirely different) person, or just that I need to watch more movies.

    Maybe some day Dave3 and I can actually be on at the same time - feel free to send Dave an email to that effect!

    Everyone who missed out on the live stream last night missed some great shit!
  • @Rufi

    Wow, considering that last week they had Kevin Smith on the show, I take that as a huge compliment. Thanks! I would definitely love to be on the show at the same time as Myles at some point, but due to a technicality regarding a wormhole in the space/time continuum... it might be a tad difficult to, say, avoid the Universe folding in on itself should we both occupy the same sonic space concurrently.

    I kid.... or do I?

    Seriously though, I love the /FilmCast too! And like many /film fans, It's MY Monday night. So getting to actually be on the show is an honor as well as always being a great deal of fun.

    Here come the horns! \m/ ^_^ \m/
  • I ended up listening to the entire Watchers podcast archive because 1 episode of the /filmcast each week wasn't enough. I need something to listen to while doing my work so I have to be held in restraints almost to keep me from watching the live stream.

    Dave3 plays great off of Adam and Dave making for great radio, and between Devindra and Myles, there really isn't any better in depth discussion about the best TV shows on television then these guys get into. Plus you guys got me into The Wire and BSG!

    @Twistedlp

    What was on the live cast that might/did get cut from the download able version (posted here) ?

    As far as animation is concerned, 5cm Per Second and Kakurenbo had some of the best backgrounds and animation I have ever seen.

    I feel bad for all the people who don't actually follow the podcast and must have been completely confused by all the Cam Gigandet talk.
  • @Rufi

    Your enthusiasm for the show is humbling. Thanks so much for your support! Without it, Peter Sciretta would undoubtedly have fired our asses long ago...
  • @krackajap

    If by the time I get through life, the only thing I've done is raise Cam Gigande's profile, it will be a life well-spent. Also, at some point I need to raise my standards for a life well-spent.
  • krackajap
    @David Chen
    Yes, you need to raise your standards for a life well spent. Personally, I wouldn't be satisfied until I have constructed a life-like replica of Cam Gigandet in my basement using discarded skin and hair that I have collected from years of stalking him.
  • Adam B.
    I think it's safe to say that David Chen has lived the American dream.
    his face should be placed in school books so that young children know of his story and how he met Cam Gigandet.
    again, I'm jealous!
  • I have to say, while I agree that "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" was not a good X-Files movie (perhaps "Okay" at best), the argument that it is not in the tradition of the show because it's not paranormal or supernatural is unfounded. There are X-Files episodes that have nothing to do with paranormal phenomenon.

    Take for example the episode "Home" from Season 4. It's just an episode about a family of inbreds. It's just horrific. Or "The Jersey Devil" from Season 1 was just about a race of human beings who have only lived in the woods and have been mistaken for bigfoot type creatures. Or "F. Emasculata" from Season 2 which was about a deadly disfiguring virus. Or "Unusual Suspects" from Season 5 about the Lone Gunmen and a covert Government experiment.

    I could go on, but the point is that the X-Files was not just about supernatural phenomenon. It was also about government conspiracies, mutations, and horrific subject matter.

    I agree that this new movie probably needed more of a supernatural phenomenon to make it more interesting. All it has is the psychic priest. But the whole idea of a "Frankenstein" type story really does fit in the X-Files universe. It was just executed poorly here.
