Last month we stumbled across Tom Whalen’s incredible movie art, and decided to featured some of his best creations in our daily Cool Stuff column. Shortly after the publishing of that post, Whalen was contacted by the UK Magazine LOAD to create the cover art for their Dark Knight issue. How cool is that? You can see the original high resolution unwatermarked artwork on Tom’s deviant art profile. Congratulations to Tom. I hope more people discover his art.

    @VegaBro:
    And..?

    I agree with VegaBro, where’s all the Mama Mia coverage eh? eh?

    Oh no no no. I dont mind at all. I was just expecting maybe an article criticizing the cryptic racist tendencies of Space Chimps or at least another Twilight trailer.

    Am I the only one already burned out on this guy’s work? Every poster is the same three color angular profiles. I mean, don’t get me wrong. The guy is talented, but give us some variety. He just seems to be a bit of a one-trick pony anymore.

    Artists do normally have a style they go through at one point or another, and to be honest, I think Tom Whalen’s work is fantastic.

    What kind of a world do we live in…where a man dressed up like a bat….gets all my press?

    @windmillninja

    I agree. I liked this style of artwork at first until I saw that EVERY picture was just like the next.

    I don’t know why this site is so fascinated by a one trick pony when there are so many other great artists out there…

    Knowing Peter……American Teen will crush that record.

    Eh, I liked his WALL-E stuff a lot better.

    Does he have anything on Two-Face?…

    On second thought that character my not be the best person for his type of artwork, unless he did it from two different perspectives…

    Peter, enough with the Dark Knight stuff! Boondock Saints 2 is in production! http://geeksofdoom.com/2008/07/19/boondock-saints-2-plot-details-production-diary/

    The actually art piece he did is amazing, although I’m pretty sure it follows the same “layout” as a few of his other pieces. The actually mazagine cover ruins the picture and their choice for the text of “rulers of night” is terrible and out of place.

    @BB:

    I think you’re thinking of the work of Eric Tan?

  21. Gravatar

    The artwork is ill. The type ruins the cover.
