The teaser trailer for Terminator: Salvation will be attached to The Dark Knight this Friday. But you don’t have to wait until Friday to see it! I think we are going to be very surprised by this film. That last shot with the T-100 is epic. This is definitely one of those trailers that you need to watch a couple times to fully take in all the slivers of footage. Tell me what you think in the comments below.
You can watch the trailer in High Definition on Yahoo. Terminator Salvation hits theaters on May 22nd 2009.

July 16th, 2008 at 11:42 am
Okay, doesn’t look that bad. So i guess that part about him riding on a motorcycle at the end was completely fabricated by someone claiming to have seen the trailer.
July 16th, 2008 at 11:43 am
I think Christian Bale is one of the best actors of our time (Empire of the Sun is my favorite movie), and I’ll be the first to say this makes Newsies look good.
July 16th, 2008 at 11:44 am
HOLY!
I think the teaser just washed my mouth off the bad taste of T3.
July 16th, 2008 at 11:45 am
The movie looks good enough. I just kinda chuckled to myself about how they’re marketing it. Maybe it’s because the Dark Knight is coming out this week that I laugh when another movie franchise is marketing itself with Christian Bale and the phrase ‘Begins’. What’s next? Fraggle Rock? Voltron? Newsies Begins?
July 16th, 2008 at 11:48 am
I now have some semblance of hope for this picture. Trouble is, McG’s problem was never making things look good, ya know? But with a decent script and Bale-o-tron 6000, Movie Elevator, it could be good. Anybody else notice that the “Summer 2009″ font just HAPPENS to be the font for TRANSFORMERS?
July 16th, 2008 at 11:49 am
ooh that looks pretty good! i’m excited now :)
July 16th, 2008 at 11:51 am
“See we can crush skulls in PG-13.”
July 16th, 2008 at 11:51 am
blah. It looks like Transformers.
Christian Bale is SO hot and brilliant. IT’s finally time he’s got recognition. He’s been acting for a long time and always underrated.
July 16th, 2008 at 11:51 am
There is still a ’slickness’ that exists in T2 that I hope they don’t abandon. I feel this might have too unique of a documentary/gritty style to it. There’s just that James Cameron stylized feeling that I miss…
Of course, more than 50 seconds would help the analysis!
July 16th, 2008 at 11:54 am
Oh, hells yes.
July 16th, 2008 at 11:54 am
It’a ok but do not understand anything
July 16th, 2008 at 11:55 am
This could be really good, but with only 54 seconds of footage I still can’t make up my mind entirely.
July 16th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
McG is gonna fuck this up
July 16th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
Did anyone else get the feeling they were watching a Cloverfield trailer at one point? I did. Pretty cool trailer.
July 16th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
yup, pretty much blew my mind, yup.
July 16th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
I loved the DUN DUN DUN-DUN-DUN classic Terminator music.
Great teaser…
July 16th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
Terminator “Salvation”? Why not call it Terminator Retarded instead. We go from having an ominous, meaningful, damn poetic title like Judgement day to hey don’t worry, it’s a salvation… happy happy joy joy. This will be crap.
July 16th, 2008 at 12:25 pm
I just came.
July 16th, 2008 at 12:26 pm
Still kind of iffy on the movie, but the trailer is def. a great teaser. It’s got the great music, snippets of what looks to be kind of cool, setting a kind of dark tone. I def. like the trailer. Don’t know if I’ll like the movie.
July 16th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
…twice.
July 16th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
Wow I’m impressed. Can McG change his directorial name?
July 16th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Awww, I expected the classic DUN DUN DUN… Terminator beat. This is looking damn good though. Let’s hope that plot leak a while back was false.
July 16th, 2008 at 12:37 pm
It doesn’t feel anything like the originals. But, it looks better then T3. To me it reminds me of Transformers which I liked. It was just pure popcorn entertainment. So I guess it will be T4 vs T2 next summer
July 16th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
With Christian Bale at the Helms, I think he will silent the critics…This seems to have great potential of maybe reviving this incredible movie. Hope that the script will match the CG…..
July 16th, 2008 at 12:40 pm
I am at least happy they apparently ditched the stupid theme from T3 that everything is destined to play out like it is supposed to after the first two movies used the theme of “No fate is but what you make of it”. One theme I always kinda wondered about is that they keep sending people/Terminators back to stop Skynet, but what if it screws up the future so the timeline changes and things are much worse in the future. What if Sarah’s efforts to bring down Cyberdyne/Skynet makes Skynet more prepared for a human resistence movement and has better defenses and weapons. It looks like they may explore that theme here.
That said, I am still leary of this project.
July 16th, 2008 at 1:02 pm
MCG + PG-13 = lol
July 16th, 2008 at 1:03 pm
So people aren’t going to give McG any credit and just say Bale made this kick-ass.
GTFO
July 16th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
Wow - I watched that in the nick of time when I tried to replay the video as suddenly unavailable.
@Alan Geiss - yep, I thought of Cloverfield while watching the trailer. LOL
Hmm, but it’s definitely not a bad trailer. All the same I’m staying reserved. It doesn’t matter how much I love Christian Bale and how often he chooses good projects I’m still iffy because of McG. If he surprises then I’ll be happy, but I’m not expecting much.
July 16th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
I’m thinking that the upcoming films will have to be based on a search for the time-travel device (which is likely heavily defended by Skynet). The final film in this series will end with Connor dying while trying to stop Skynet from sending a “bad” Arnold back to the early mid-80s, then, someone sending a “good” Arnold back to the early 90s as they unsuccessfully try to stop Skynet from sending back liquid cop guy, and then a final send back of another “good Arnie” and the female terminator.
So the whole thing is a loop.
July 16th, 2008 at 1:15 pm
this looks really good. ill make up my mind about it when an actual trailer. but as of now, im excited.
lets not forget…it cant be bad if Batman is starring in it.
July 16th, 2008 at 1:24 pm
This is going in the right for McG, he is going to get much respect for this film.
But I think he is going to get this from copying different directing styles that he has copied to help.
I saw Chrinicles of Roddicl and transformers in that.
But that looked a sweet trailer!!!!
July 16th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
here’s the official HD one (which is slightly different):
http://movies.yahoo.com/premieres/8841507/standardformat/
and what looks to be a first look at the T600:
http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/6803/70005729zg1.jpg
July 16th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
which you can see for a fraction of a second if you pause at the right moment at 34 seconds in.
July 16th, 2008 at 2:00 pm
Consider me converted and now excited for the project. If McG can somehow craft a great storyline (cause I have faith in his action chops) than I think this could be an awesome movie. The Terminator franchise to me has always been about a great story (except T3, although I did like the ending yes I’m the only one).
July 16th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
May 22, 2008? Damn, this movie is so shitty it came and went and no one realized.
July 16th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
Stop the Quicktime at 00:00:34!
July 16th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Hate to point out a small mistake, but hits theatres May 2009 not 2008.
July 16th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
Don’t tell anyone that, Chris! It takes the wit and irony out of my post!
July 16th, 2008 at 2:28 pm
movie will suck because of unnecessary cgi, pg 13, what looks to be some crappy movie sets, and most obviously, mcg.
also, that shot of the robot at the end totally rips off alien.
July 16th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
Thrilled by the trailer, but still skeptic on McG.
Not putting any high expectations,
especially after T3.
July 16th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
the trailer looks and sounds great indeed (and maybe it’s just me, yet for some reason it reminds me distantly of the “year zero” experience by nine inch nails… which is a good thing, imo. :)) let’s hope the final movie will live up to this almost-one minute intro.
July 16th, 2008 at 3:05 pm
As far as the PG-13 stuff, Mr. Beaks at AICN is said that’s not true per a set visit in July.
July 16th, 2008 at 3:07 pm
Christian Bale? Trailer? Voice over? When’s that been done before?
July 16th, 2008 at 3:14 pm
it is true to 00:34, cabbage as there are noticed?
July 16th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
If I would’ve seen this in a theater i would’ve taught it was Transformers 2.
Not enough to say wether it’s gonna be good or bad, hopefully good.
July 16th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
I think its a step in the right direction. Collectively, we were expecting a complete pile of crap. After seeing the trailer, this has the makings of not sucking, with the potential to be solid. Im going to hold off and give McG a chance to prove himself.
July 16th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
it looks good, but it’s McG and his movies are the cinematic equivalent to steamy piles of shit
July 16th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
shit, son. may 22nd, 2008? i can’t wait for this movie to come out two months ago.
July 16th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
ooooo what a tease!! i am very like!!! Looks like they are taking the filmmaking really seriously!!
July 16th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Awse.
July 16th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
I’ve seen cool trailers for shitty movies before. The director has only one name people…come on now…even Bale can’t save this
July 16th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
I like McG. He’s got the comicbook-style action down pat. He’s just never had the material to satisfy the fanboy base. I think this movie looks great!
July 16th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
Mega has to be a plant.
Please to be meeting you.
July 16th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
That terminator totally looks like a dude in a suit! lol
Cameron didn’t even go that cheap route back in 84 with T1. What a joke!
July 16th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Looks ok…
July 16th, 2008 at 6:02 pm
Christian Bale single handily revives the Terminator series….
July 16th, 2008 at 6:05 pm
It’s pretty amazing that, in a few short years, a relatively unknown (to the mainstream anyway) actor such as Bale can make such a huge impact on the film business as he has.
I’ve been rooting for him for a long time and I’m SO glad he’s finally managed to be recognized as an A list actor and star.
Congratulations, Mr. Bale, for a job well done. May you inspire young people everywhere to persist towards their dreams, do the best job they can, and never give up.
July 16th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
whatever. There is nothing notable, either positive or negative, to be gained from that teaser. It’s just a few cuts from something that could be anything, whipped together so they can market the Baleness with TDK.
Better wait for a real teaser or trailer before you get too jacked up.
July 16th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
I remember everybody saying they were going to stay away from Spider-Man because of Raimi.
Remember that all you’ve gotten to see yet is about 50 seconds of footage, and some set photos. This movie could really suck, but it has the same chance of kicking ass.
Anyways, I liked the trailer, it reminded me alot of Cloverfield.
So far, so good.
July 16th, 2008 at 6:23 pm
Mr. Pop,
While some people had a problem with Raimi he did have a proven record before Spider-Man with his cult B-movie work. McG creates horrible shit for a living.
July 16th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
It’s still early, they just obviously want to get the bale-batman mind set this friday so everybody is already talking about terminator. it was a horrible teasser but i’ll wait till the trailer to make my prediction. right now everything except for Bale is suck.
July 16th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
there is so much that can be messed up in this film, but i think McG is going to surprise everyone and blow us all out of our seats. the footage looks pretty awesome, and hopefully it’ll match the hype that i am sure will be building up soon.
July 16th, 2008 at 6:47 pm
Raimi >>>>>>>>
McG
just had to get that out
July 16th, 2008 at 6:54 pm
WHOA That Teaser looked AMazing!!!! Christian Bale looked gangsta. Im defiantly shocked!!!!
July 16th, 2008 at 6:58 pm
didn’t mind T3..
July 16th, 2008 at 7:09 pm
I saw T-600 in this teaser! Yes, it is right there, and I’ve got the snapshots on my blog, you guys definitely want to see–
http://www.mtime.com/my/movietrailers/blog/1316508/2/
July 16th, 2008 at 7:10 pm
Things I want to see:
John Connor as the main character.
John Connor not dying.
John Connor not turning into a cyborg.
Seeing the Terminator series ending on a good note, i.e. the movies, and Skynet being taken down.
July 16th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
Christian Bale rules. He’ll bring this franchise back just like Batman. He’s just ruthless and awesome.
July 16th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Maybe John Conner can go back in time and prevent T3 from ever being produced and kill McG’s mother.
July 16th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
Great. Christian Bale will bring it through, and that T-100 at the end looks insanely good.
Now where’s my Watchmen trailer?
July 16th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
Is it too much to ask that people reserve judgement and look at the film based on it’s own merits?
Every bit of news that’s come out about about this inspires confidence. Sure McG has a stupid name, sure Charlie’s Angels wasn’t my cup of tea either but who cares? Honestly some of you kids run around crying like McG fingerbanged your cat. In all likelihood T4 is going to kick your ass so just sit back and enjoy the ride because after all, that’s all it is.
July 16th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
I remember the shit being said now about McG being the same we heard for Ironman and Jon Favreau. This trailer looked sweet to me and do you people ever consider Bale’s judgement? Dude hasn’t done a bad movie yet (ok, Shaft was bad..I’ll give you that). If it’s PG-13 it’ll be too bad….not many kickass R rated films these days.
July 16th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
You know im from Huntington, WV…and i was on the set of We Are Marshall….and to be honest, McG doesn’t really know thing one about film making…he kept running around and changing things because he thought they would be “cooler if you did it this way”
Go back to making Sugar Ray and Barenaked Ladies’ video’s….ohh and change your stupid name!
ps. Thanks for making a shitty movie, staring a shitty actor, about a tragedy that has haunted this town for almost 40 years!
July 16th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Wow, I’m actually a little more interested in this now (Christian Bale was the only thing that had me interested in the first place). It’s still too early to judge, but this has the potential to be really good (even if it is rated PG-13). Christian Bale has the right look for the older John Connor, unlike the guy who played him in T# (can’t remember his name). If this movie is solid and blows T3 out of existence, then I’ll be very happy. If not, then I have the first two to enjoy.
btw, Bryce Dallas Howard is in this, right? That might turn out all right. Anyway, however the film turns out, I’m pretty sure Christian Bale will deliver a solid performance.
July 16th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Epic? Talk about a word that gets overused.
July 16th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Time to rewatch T1 and T2! =D
T-600 looks amazing!
@ TheDaftPunk
I want to see John Connor as the main character too.
July 16th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
Holy shit….i was looking forward to this movie true but this is so so darn cool than I ever expected, maybe McG mite finally suprise us like michael bay did with transformers.Always glad to hear the terminator theme again……cant wait till may 2009,christian bale rocks!!!
July 16th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
everything Bale touches is brilliant.
July 16th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
This teaser shows nothing, whats wrong with you people?
And citing “it looks like cloverfield!” as a positive is lulz at best.
Drop the bm hype for a moment and rejoin the rest of us back here in reality. Bale’s just a typical snobby brit actor. too dry, no emotion, dude’s like the UK’s answer to Hayden Christensan.
July 16th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
Dan,
Did you see Equilibrium and Reign of Fire? Because oh lordy…Those were shit. I like Bale too.
I still ask myself why he accepted those two roles.
July 16th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
still recovering from the goosebumps ! :P
but i do miss the mandatory “i’ll be back” line from the Governator which was featured in all the prev movie trialers ! :(
still cant digest they are making a termiantor movie without arnie. t3 was watery but still it had arnie. bale looks like hes gonna kick some ass. and was it sam worthington just before the “the end begins” line came?
P.S. is Dr.Silberman (sp?) still alive??
July 16th, 2008 at 11:09 pm

Jerry crack corn and I don’t care Says:

WTF!…
How can you even compare a turd like hayden Christensan to bale?
Havent you seen machinist/prestige/american psycho/ oh did i forget the dark knight…?
and what was the dumb wooden hayden movie called? star wars episode 2 & 3?
July 16th, 2008 at 11:51 pm
i think yes
July 17th, 2008 at 1:13 am
First of all, for all the people complaining that this isn’t the “same old Terminator film”…that’s the reason the FRANCHISE NEEDS A KICK IN THE ASS. All we’ve gotten used to are time-travel plots, Arnold collecting a check, and hype that doesn’t turn out to be worth it.
Yes, Arnold, James Cameron, Michael Biehn, Stan Winston, Linda Hamilton et al MADE THE FRANCHISE WHAT IT IS. But there is no progress without change. I’ve been waiting for ages to see a vision of the Future War. And this is going to be it!
And for those of you who discount the possibility it will be a good film SOLELY on the fact that McG has only directed rather, shall we say, “art-less” films previously…take a look at what James Cameron directed before the original Terminator.
“Piranha II”.
Frickin’ “Piranha II”!!! And look what a talent he blossomed into. Give a man a chance, people.
Concerning the question of how the T-600 looks just like a person in a robot suit…the T-600 (by fictional canon) was the first machine built by SKYNET to emulate the human appearance in an attempt to infiltrate the Resistance hideouts. It had the rubber skin (that Reese so famously mentions in T1) and was easily detected up close as being fake. The reason it’d be covered in strips of ragged clothing (as seen in Brad Wong’s picture he posted) is because not all of the T-600’s disguise has come off. So it’s not poor special effects. It’s a realistic representation of what a Terminator would look like, that model, having some of it’s “disguise” still intact.
And Stan Winston spent the last months of his life working on this film, specifically on the appearance of the T-600. McG mentioned that.
So show some damn respect for an innovator and a legend, without whom none of this would have been realized visually.
July 17th, 2008 at 1:28 am
guys relax your in good hands the guy hasnt made a bad movie since shaft
July 17th, 2008 at 1:45 am
lol @ danny’s comment
July 17th, 2008 at 2:42 am
looks good - terminator theme music is class… been waiting since t2 for the future war!! I hope we get a movie more like t2 than t3!
July 17th, 2008 at 6:21 am
So do we call it T4, or TS? I’ll get confused. Although, I would prefer TS, because T4 reminds people about the movie before it- T3… *shudder*.
I have *cough* utmost faith in McG *cough* , but I really hope the legend of Stan Winston and the quality of Bale would make this into into a great Post-Judgement Day film, not just any ordinary shootem-up/uneeded-explosions action flick.
The first step is with McG changing his late 70’s name and call himself Mike-I-need-help-from-others-to-make-unoriginal movies.
Hey, at least it’s true.
July 17th, 2008 at 6:22 am
Less is more I guess? Didn’t blow me away. But, it’s a teaser so what more can you expect. I have yet to like any of McG’s movies, so I’m not sure if this will get to theaters. Even if Bale can pull off an epic win for the role.
July 17th, 2008 at 6:38 am
yyyyyaaaaaaaayyyyyy!!!!!
this looks decent!!!!
and christian bale is just mint!!!
;-D
July 17th, 2008 at 10:12 am
Pfft, more of Bale’s wooden acting. The dude has perfected the “I just had the shite kicked out of me by the world, now let me sulk for 2 hrs” look down to a t. That’s all he does in these movies. that’s not ACTING, that’s EMO!
People these days want “dark” and “morbid”. It’s a cinematic phase. Once we’re on the other side, you’ll see what a talentless, gloomy hack this brit really is.
July 17th, 2008 at 10:16 am
btw, to that guy that mentioned the suits intentionally looking like something out a high school play…………….looks like Winston was just a bit more preoccupied by death knocking on his door than working on these costumes. Least the pics we’ve seen imply so much.
And who wouldn’t? I mean if you’re dying……..I’d be like “screw it, I ain’t goin to be around to hear the fanboy bitchin anyway! Gimme my check so I can at least upgrade to one of those metal caskets and buy myself at least a century before it’s wormfoodville!”
July 17th, 2008 at 11:24 am
first batman now john connor, how much better can christian bale get?
July 17th, 2008 at 11:29 am
I heard he’s in the sequal to brokeback mountain. The role called for an uncomfortably quiet and withdrawn dry actor who could scowl 12-14 hrs a day during the 2 month shoot. Oh, and who also like to take it in the pooper.
July 17th, 2008 at 11:32 am
Apparently there was an opening in the cast for BBM after he killed the Joker. :(
July 17th, 2008 at 12:15 pm
Bale can always be relied upon to turn in a strong performance (with the right material of course), and it ’s a decent enough teaser trailer, so: thumbs up. If it’s a good screenplay, it ought to be a good film! Here’s hoping.
July 17th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
Looks promising. End of comment.
July 17th, 2008 at 7:29 pm
This teaser looks amazing. It looks really well done. Did the hand reaching through the roof about the 17 second mark remind anyone else of a sentinal from X-men? Friggin’ huge! I am now excited about this franchise again.
July 17th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
No, looked like a transformers rip off scene actually.
Know why?
Cuz it is.
July 20th, 2008 at 6:21 am
“No, looked like a transformers rip off scene actually.
Know why?
Cuz it is.”
actually this is for a movie called TERMINATOR SALVATION, hang in there, you’ll understand basic human communication one day.
August 18th, 2008 at 8:23 am
HEY YOU I WONT THIS MOVIE TO BE GOOD NOT SOME SHIT!!!
August 28th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Did he say sshhaawwwn Conner Christian Bale AKA (Batman) as John Conner. Common he sounds like he has a mouth full of banana. Dont get me wrong I love the concept of the terminator movies and Sarah Conner Chronicles I even named my daughter Sarah but Christian Bale I dont think he will help this movie. They should have used Nick Stahl again. I will wait until the blue ray is released.
