New Red Band Zack and Miri Trailer at Comic Con?

You might not have to wait until Pineapple Express to see a new trailer for Kevin Smith’s Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Smith has posted on his website that “the marketing folks are working hard to have a Red Band trailer for Comic Con”. Either way, Smith is expected to show some footage in San Diego at his Question and Answer session on Friday night. Kevin is actually scheduled to appear during four panels at the convention:

Thursday, July 24th

  • 3:00pm to 4:00pm: Smith will moderate the Spike TV Scream panel discussion called ‘Scream’ Like a Girl: Spike Salutes the Women of Sci-Fi.

Friday, July, 25th

  • 5:15pm to 6:15pm: Smith will be part of Entertainment Weekly’s “The Visionaries: Filmmakers” panel in Hall H
  • 6:30pm to 8:00pm: Kevin’s annual question and answer session in Hall H.

Saturday, July 26th

  • 2:15pm to 3:15pm: Kevin will be participating in a Battlestar Galactica panel.

    I just don't know about this film. I can see Kevin Smith trying really hard to promote this film, but so far this is coming off as a second tier Apatow production. For Seth Rogen, this film is a pit-stop, but it can make or break Smith as a mainstream director. I just have a bad feeling that this film is going to tank hard. Which is a shame, because without Clerks, Mallrats & Chasing Amy paving the way, there is no Judd Apatow, Freaks & Geeks, or Knocked Up.

    I have a good feeling about this film, not that Clerks 2 was bad, but this will make more money.
  • Pete: With exception of the red band teaser, Smith actually hasn't promoted the film one bit. I can't speak to how well this film will do at the box office, that is TWC's job, but Smith has shown that he has enough of a following that comes back for each and every new film. Speaking as someone who has seen some of the film... let me say that this is far FAR from a "second tier Apatow" film. The comparison stops at Seth Rogen.
