Gerard Butler in Game
I opened my inbox to discover another new photo of Gerard Butler in Game, the new movie from Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor - the madmen that brought us Crank.

The story takes place “in the not too distant future.” Kabel (Gerard Butler), a death row inmate, has unwittingly become a pop culture hero. Every week, millions worldwide tune in online to watch him and hundreds of other convicts battle in Slayers, an ultra-violent multi-player online game invented by technological genius Ken Castle (Michael C. Hall). To the wealthy young gamer who controls his every move, Kable is just a sim (simulation) character. To the resistance group that opposes Castle’s games as high-tech slavery, he is a critical element in their battle to take down the inventor. Caught in the crosshairs of two opposing forces and under the command of a teenager’s remote device, Kable must use his extraordinary fighting skills to escape the game, bring down Castle and overthrow the system. Game is currently scheduled for a TBA Fall 2008 release.

Thanks to /Film photo scooper Christopher M for the photo.

    That’s pretty neat peter! But is it necessary for the slashfilm watermark to be on every photo that is not owned by slashfilm?

    Just a thought.

    I’m not sure his 300 fame will carry into THE GAME.

    @OH Blair

    A majority of movie sites and blogs do that…it’s not just /Film

    Isn’t this just like The Running Man? Or whatever that film with Arnold trying to survive a game to feed his family in the future was called.

    Blair ,

    Most sites watermark all their images and videos, we don’t. I opperate the site under the theory that whatever is best for the readers is what we shpuld do. That is why you don’t see watermarks all over everything. Recently we’ve run into a issue with other sites taking our images without link or credit. We don’t ask for much, all I request is a linkback. I promise we won’t be watermarking all our photos, only a select couple from time to time. We’ll also try to make them less obtrusive.

    watermark away. It’s free advertising and anyone that argues that is just being obtuse*

    *I love that word use in shawshank

    I really liked Butler in the Lara Croft movie. “Game” sounds about as high concept as you can get. It’s a busy premise. There’s an interesting film hidden in that concept somewhere, but it depends on tone and point of view. I’d prefer to see the game player’s story, but hopefully that remains Ender’s to tell.

    He got game.

    eXistenZ vs Battle Royale vs The Running Man. Could be good!

    I like that cut down G-36 with 100-round drum magazine he’s rockin’.

    Did anyone else start humming the MST3K theme after reading “not too distant future”? This seems like it might be ready-made for the likes of Tom Servo and Crooooow anyway.
