Earlier today we brought you the international teaser trailer for Transporter 3, and now we have the first American trailer from another French film Babylon A.D.
Mathieu Kassovitz’s (Gothika) sci-fi action thriller stars Vin Diesel as Thoorop, a veteran-turned-mercenary who takes the high-risk job of escorting a woman from Russia to China. Little does he know that she is host to an organism that a cult wants to harvest in order to produce a genetically modified Messiah. I’m not really expecting this film to be the next Children of Men, but I love watching big budget futuristic sci fi action films. The fact that Fox might have forced Kassovitz to cut the film down substantially probably isn’t a good sign. It still looks like it might be a fun popcorn film, and how can you go wrong with Clint Mansell’s awesome (and yes, overused) Requiem score for a trailer soundtrack?

The 2 hours 40 run time was supposedly false information
The Director said the movie would be like 105 minutes in Europe
But it seems Fox have STILL decided to edit it for American release by trimming it to 90 minutes.
Its not quite as bad as losing 70 or so minutes. But even 15 missing minutes can make a difference in a movie…

The thing that is funny about Vin Diesel is that most people dont know that the chronicles of riddick was the 2nd movie. Plus it kinda sucked compared to pitch black. It just seem like this whole different world that had nothing to do with the first movie.

I feel like I saw the entire movie already. A bit like 5th Element? Lone wolf risks his life for something noble in the future. Then again it´s Kassovitz, director of my favourite movie “La Haine”.

As epic as this song is, you get kind of tired of it when you hear it so much. I really don’t have any expectations for this movie. I will probably go see it due to the lack of scifi movies. There should be a Deus Ex movie.

This looks actually really good…I don’t know if anyone else has caught the director’s cut of “The Chronicles of Riddick” but that was one amazing and underrated production….For an action sci-fi movie it blew away the new Star Wars flicks…The sets were great and the special effects were decent all things considering…I guess I’m the only one thinking that..lol..

I had high hopes that this would not be another xXx movie and that it would be more like children of men. But it just looks like :

I would have been there opening day if they did.

Hello all you Babylon AD friends !
The last days have been busy with news about the length and the rating of Babylon AD. I always find it amazing to see rumors grow from other rumors or misunderstanding. Therefore I think the time is good to give you some updates.
Babylon AD has never had a 2h40min cut. This rumor came from a joke Mathieu did in front of some journalists last september. Apparently some of them didn’t understand it… The approximate length of the film is 1h40min and this is what has been delivered to our partner, FOX. So I can reassure you, FOX is not chopping up the film and cutting 70min like I read on Rotten Tomatoes ! :-)
Oh and about the PG13, that was a contractual agreement between Fox and us, so there is no surprise on that end.
The truth is Fox - like any other studio - will have their final cut on their territories and Mathieu Kassovitz has his on the European ones. So there will naturally be a few differences between the two versions.
Now about the film, StudioCanal is working on teasers and the poster for the European territories as I speak. A French teaser should be released on the web quite soon !

looks good though. Wish they’d finally finish the riddick trilogy. Seems like this could’ve almost been a prequel, if only it didn’t take place in a universe so similar to ours (and so different from riddick)

“How can you go wrong with Mansell’s Requiem piece?” By putting it in the Babylon AD trailer! Totally doesn’t belong. It should have some techno/hardcore rock track, not an epic orchestral piece like this.

As amazing as The Chronicles of Riddick was, they should do another prequel where he is the real villain. Completely and totally. Before he started to “save the girl.” Don’t get me wrong. Completely love both Riddick movies. :)

Its one of the best half-ass post-sequels to ever grace the sci-fi realm.

Looks great and I’m pretty sure I saw Michelle in their too. Loved the Chronicles and am glad that Vin is getting back to this kind of stuff after seeing The Pacifier.

the movie is hot and it made me excited to see the movie.when it comes out into theaters.its good because of the action and the storyline.vin diesel is a good actor to play in this movie.the reason I sayed it was hot because of the trailer I have just seen.thats the end of my comment.

Now I heard all the negative talk and positive comments, but what I didn’t hear is I watch the movie and then make my final opinion about the film. I think I am tired of the trashing talking and I think that I would enjoy watching the film. I think Vin Diesel wouldn’t starred in a film that he doesn’t think would be a hit that’s because he write and film movie so he has experience what will work and what won’t work. If you think that Chronicles of Riddick was bad then you have no taste. I love the film I just wish they didn’t cut some of the important part of the moive. Okay that’s my comment you can either love it or hate and I still wouldn’t care either way.
