Transformers 2 Logo

The neighbors of the Transformers 2 Bethlehem Steel movie set have gotten a letter from the location manager warning them of, among other things, “large scale pyrotechnics”. Yes that’s right folks… As expected, Michael Bay will be blowing more shit up in the Transformers sequel, beginning next week (Not that anyone was expecting anything less…). You can complain all you want about Michael Bay, but one thing you can’t deny is that he knows how to blow shit up (see the awesome highlight video from last year). Thanks for /Film reader Ironhide for e-mailing us a scan of the letter, which also gives us a look at the film’s in-production logo. Simple but very cool. Phone numbers have been blurred to protect the production team from prank calls. Click below to enlarge.

When i read the article about Hitchcock that the Introduction of sound hurt cinema one thing came to my mind.
    Cinema already 'advanced'
F/X & Computer generated content offer the chance to show some pictures barely imaginable before.

But too often they don't support the movie/story. They are the story.

Lucas and in this case Bay are the best examples. They went this way and for people like me their movies are soulless.
  • I'm sure the disruption to their lives will be worth it when they see what shit was blown up next year.

Bensalem isn't that far from where I live. Maybe I'll go and check it out.
  • Joe Newman
    doesn't affect me

correct me if i'm wrong, because i don't know a whole lot about cg in filmmaking: the way this works is that they blow the shit up, then go an insert the choreographed fighting robots, right?

i think it's pretty tough to visualize giant fighting robots, then go and film the practical destruction they leave in their wake. i know bay gets flack from alot of people, but i think he's pretty good at seeing an action sequence from every angle imaginable, and then properly executing it all.

Transformers are right in Bay's wheelhouse and it wouldn't surprise me, or displease me, if he just keeps making sequel after sequel after sequel.
