Get Smart

Warner Bros has released five new television spots for the upcoming big screen adaptation of Get Smart. I grew up on a steady diet of Nick at Nite: Get Smart, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and Mr. Ed. The Mel Brooks created spy comedy series was always my favorite of the bunch, so understandably I’ve been excited about for this movie since day one. I’ve heard a bunch of good things from a couple friends who have seen the film at test screenings. I’m just wondering if it looks too stupid to people who are unfamiliar with the series it is based on. Watch the five new television spots below.

Get Smart TV Spot: Same Page

Get Smart TV Spot: Super Agents

Get Smart TV Spot: World-Class

Get Smart TV Spot: Plain Smart

Get Smart TV Spot: No Escape

Get Smart hits theaters on June 20th 2008.

First, looks funny… can’t wait to check it out…

I don’t know about you but they left me satisfied…*waits for it* lol.

Sorry, looks dated and and more like the Keystons Cops, but of course they are still appreciated by some. No doubt Anne will have to carry it much as she did in B J.

That looks hiliarious, I’ve gotta see that!

I’ll wait for DVD, but Anne Hathaway is smoking hot.

You are right about Anne Hathaway. I’m surprised. The movie looks like a brainless summer action comedy. I’m in for the DVD.

    Looks disappointing. :-/

I don’t understand why they spend so much time and money on movies and then just throw together crappy trailers. I thought those first three trailers were an awful representation of the film. The last two were much better. If I were making a decision purely based on the last two trailers, I’d say this looks entertaining and worth watching, based on the first three, I wouldn’t even watch it on DVD.

The last couple of trailers and the TV spots have given me
a little bit of hope that this movie might entertain me. Despite
the good cast I have wary of this movie from the beginning. I
can only hope I’m pleasantly surprised because my expectations
    are low.

I read the plot synopsis on wouldyoubelieve.com and its pretty bland.
I’m a huge fan of Smart but why didn’t they get Mel Brooks and Buck Henry to write this? The casting of Seigfried looks horrible. Thomas Lennon of “Reno 911″ would have been perfect. Prob funnier than Carrell. Dwayne johnson as agent 23, Max’s mentor? Maxwell Smart never needed a fricken mentor! And agent 23 was allways undercover in a footlocker or a mailbox.

Nah they went the wrong direction with this one.
During the trailers I saw in the theaters the film got no laughs.

I saw it last month at a Roadshow screening in Sydney. I thought it was hilarious: not too cheesy, particularly good action sequences and it’s well crafted. Very ‘by the book’ but still enjoyable. Anne Hathaway is HOT (particularly in a couple of scenes), Carrell pulls it off swimmingly and The Rock has his usual “I’m an actor, LOL” charm.

I was really surprised by the film, actually, I was expecting to cringe at least once.
