Punisher: War Zone Movie Poster

UGO has the first poster for Punisher: War Zone, which is probably much better than the actual film.

Punisher: War Zone

  • Floppy
    Sweet.
  • I dont know where all the negativity for this movie is coming from, but it makes me wish there was a third national treasure movie coming out to help calm the beast. If what youre going by is the first screen writers complaints, then I would take that with a grain of salt because fans overwhelmingly prefer the new draft of the screenplay (the one theyre shooting with) over the one he produced. By the way the new one is from the same guys who adapted Iron Man to the screen, so I would take that into consideration before I panned the movie especially since there hast even been a single teaser trailer. This movie has been pointing in the right direction ever since they dumped Thomas Jane I wouldnt count it out just yet.
  • Gotta agree with rellik.
  • Tendrillar
Yeah Peter, why you bein' such a hater.

Green Street Hooligans, wasn't the best movie. But Lexi seems to be pretty sensible.

Come on now, It's gotta be better than the last one (excluding Tom Jane, he's amazing.)

We've seen nothing on this thing yet, at least wait till a trailer to bash the thing. I'll even join you if it's warranted.
  • Antibodies
    Titus Pullo.

the first punisher has to be one of the worst flicks of all time..definitely one of the worst comic book flicks ever...
I fear Titus Pullo wont even be able to save the sequel.

A poster and a few photos are all anyone has seen, and this site has already declared the movie a disaster. Yeah, that's some objective reporting...
  • Flint: We can only judge the movie based on the supplied materials. I've also heard the script was really bad.
  • Flint
That's not judging, that's prejudging. Does "benefit of the doubt" only apply when it's someone or something you already really like? Just curious, since it seems to happen here a LOT -- forming opinions with miminal information.

I bet if anyone associated with Juno was working on this, you'd be all kissy with it...
  • Flint, it is our job to judge movies based on the prerelease marketing materials. After a movie is released, we review. Notice in the post that I didn't say "this movie is gonna suck" or this movie is bad" I said that the poster is PROBABLY going to be better than the released film. This is an opinion.

And the fact of the matter is with Juno, I saw the film before I hyped the hell out of it. I knew it was a great movie. There has been no indication that this will even be a good movie. Friends have read the script and have said it's horrible, the choice of cast and crew is also less than to be desired. Didn't Thomas Jane also leave the project because he didn't like the direction? Isnt he a self confessed Punisher fanboy? All signs are pointing to a bad movie.
  • Flint
You're absolutely right -- you already covered that in your last post about the movie when you stated (your words) "Yup, looks pretty shitty." Based solely on a few photos. Again, lots of PREjudging. I'm in no way Punisher-biased -- you've done that in countless articles on other movies, tossing in a "doesn't sound good" or other negative assumption based on some small piece of information.

I realize you consider this a blog and can therefore say whatever you want (or so seems to be the perception), but it would just be nice to see the level of analysis slightly higher than the average AICN talkbacker, that's all.

(And if Jane was really a huge Punisher fan, he wouldn't have allowed the first movie to turn out the way it did, so that kills that argument.)
  • Captain Awesome
    What a waste of ammo
  • duca
    Go Peter go! *whoops*

It is a pretty neat-o poster.
  • Sam R
Remember, kiddies: Nothing could ever, EVER be worse than the Dolph Lundgren version. So I go in with much higher hopes that it couldn't be as bad as that.

"Didn’t Thomas Jane also leave the project because he didn’t like the direction? Isnt he a self confessed Punisher fanboy?"

No. Thomas Jane threw a hissy fit because Lion's Gate wouldn't go along with Jane's ideas for the script.

When push came to shove, they let Jane go and REPLACED HIM IN A NEW YORK MINUTE.

And Jane was NOT a Punisher fan, having never read a Punisher comic until he was cast in the film.

Better poster than the one previous. I going to hope for the best and expect the worst...as they say.
  • 790
    Bullet art. Yeah!
  • Nomad
    Rather like pointilism, neh?
  • Spunkmeyer
There really isn't any need to slate a film before you've seen it. Give it a chance. I'm going to watch it just because it has Titus Pulo in it. 13! 13!
