David Strick has 24 new photos from the set of the big screen adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling novel Twilight. We’ve included five of the more interesting shots after the jump, but head over to The Backlot for more photos in high resolution. And with that, let the Twilight Comment Wars continue!

Official Plot Synopsis: Twilight is an action-packed, modern day love story between a vampire and a human. Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a little bit different, never caring about fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix high school. When her mother remarries and sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn’t expect much of anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), a boy unlike any she’s ever met. Intelligent and witty, he sees straight into her soul. Soon, Bella and Edward are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance. Edward can run faster than a mountain lion, he can stop a moving car with his bare hands – and he hasn’t aged since 1918. Like all vampires, he’s immortal. But he doesn’t have fangs, and he doesn’t drink human blood; Edward and his family are unique among vampires in their lifestyle choice. To Edward, Bella is that thing he has waited 90 years for – a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. But what will Edward & Bella do when James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi) and Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre), the Cullens’ mortal vampire enemies, come to town, looking for her?

Its a piece of plywood in a tree!
…wait, thats an actor.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
Pater can you stop posting about this movie, it’s seriously like the lamest thing I’ve seen in a really long time. I mean REALLY, a vampire love story? It sounds (and looks) like one of those cheap Disney Channel movies. And if its possible to stack any more bricks in this pyramid of lameness, can I ask why all the vampires are really “clean” looking and dress like their posing for GQ? (As seen ini that featurtte previously posted) I’m really at a loss of words, this movie just looks so STUPID.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
that’s just priceless.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
“Let the Twilight Comment Wars continue!” - really, Peter? Why do I get the feeling you’re enjoying this? :P
Anyway, thanks for posting it. I’ve seen a few of these pics on the net, but haven’t been able to track down all of them. Some of these are really cool. I can’t wait to see what it looks like on the big screen - hopefully it won’t be as ridiculous as everyone above me seems to think it will be. Haha.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Bah everything’s so grey and pale… I’m not feeling the color schemes. It’s so depressing.
Hmmm… Why do I get the feeling Peter keeps posting these so we’ll keep commenting…? CONSPIRACY!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. (That’s my evil conspiracy laugh)
May 15th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
Seriously how much money, or freebies are you guys getting to plug this tosh? Your posting about this every day. I haven’t seen anything about Cannes on this
May 15th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
I hope your spending the money on something awesome.
May 15th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Man this movie already pisses me off.
May 15th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
Lol, they better clean up those images, I can see the wires!!
May 15th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Even the fucking trees are emo.
May 15th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Twilight +25 years: An elderly woman was arrested today when police raided her home after hearing reports that she had been carrying on an inappropriate relationship with a 17 yr old boy. When questioned the 42 yr old woman Bella explained that the boy was really much older and that he had been her lover for years.
Seriously? Is he the only 17yr old in existence who doesn’t have acne?
May 16th, 2008 at 2:03 am
such cool wires
May 16th, 2008 at 4:08 am
Hahaha. You guys forget that these are supposedly the more humane vampires that co-exist. I’m sure the evil ones don’t wear designers…unless they’ve eaten them. Bwah ha ha *choke*…still working on my evil laugh.
May 16th, 2008 at 5:27 am
@ Captain Awesome & Chimaera
Holy shit I can’t stop laughing and Chimaera where the hell are my damn s’mores?
May 16th, 2008 at 6:40 am
Seriously? Is he the only 17yr old in existence who doesn’t have acne?
That one got me good.
May 16th, 2008 at 6:52 am
Can not get over his face…………
May 16th, 2008 at 9:10 am
LOL! Damn it Peter now you’re just egging people on. =P
You definitely pick out the best pics of the bunch. I went to browse
through the others and *yawn* …I don’t mind set photos,
but why post ones of crew eating?? So we know they do eat? Sheesh. LoL
@Duca - the movie will likely be pretty gray for the most of the movie because in Forks, WA the sun hardly ever shines.
May 16th, 2008 at 10:37 am
I think that Nikki chick lied to me on the other thread about vampires not being able to get AIDS because…that dude…I’m just not sure.
@ Meli
If there’s no sunshine how will the venomous vampires ever glisten oh so brilliantly? Haha, I’m just messing with you. I just couldn’t resist and although you wont freak out on me for a cheap joke, some of your comrades probably will.
May 16th, 2008 at 10:48 am
@Floppy,
I had a ’sparkling’ vampire comment typed out with my
previous comment, but I thought I’d take a break from
making fun of that aspect. I’m far from being offended
by any negative comments being made, for the most part
I think they’re hilarious. The books might be like crack, but
I’m smart enough to acknowledge the medicore content.
Lots of fluff with a little meat though the 3rd book is definetly
the best…not sure if that is saying much. -shrugs-
It’s like some of movies I adore aren’t actually good films,
but I had enough enjoyment watching them not to feel like
I was cheated.
But you know…when the sun does shine in Forks, WA the vamps have to hide because sparkling in front of the humans would be bad. ;)
May 16th, 2008 at 10:59 am
I know, most of the fiery twilighters have sadly vanished. There are a few that pop up on the thread for the teaser trailer though and I go and test them a little.
May 16th, 2008 at 11:02 am
@Meli
Yeah, I know lol I live on a island in Northern BC so when I was looking at them it actually looked EXACTLY LIKE THAT outside. Damn vampires should have moved up here, there’s a lot more deer hehe.
Sparkle, sparkle, sparkle shine. SPARKLE MOTION *jazz hands*
May 16th, 2008 at 11:06 am
-Floppy, LoL, you’re awful! ;)
I think you and big daddy chased most of the truly
devoted away.
Of course, December is a long ways away so they might come back from time to time…especially if we actually get a good trailer!
May 16th, 2008 at 11:10 am
@ duca -
Ahahahahaha! Well, how do you KNOW you don’t
have any vampires living among you?? If they’re anything
like the Cullens they could be that extremely pale, but ungodly
beautiful person you pass in the street.
May 16th, 2008 at 11:32 am
@Meli
Umm… you’ve obviously never seen the men up here XD lol Everybody’s pale, but nobody is ungodly beautiful… *sighs*
May 16th, 2008 at 11:41 am
@duca,
LoL, nope never been up to BC. I live in sunny So Cal, so
while we have beautiful people they are usually too tan
to be vamps. …unless they are using that spray on tan…
I wonder if that would work and if it would hide the sparkle. hehe
May 16th, 2008 at 11:52 am
@ Meli
Well chimaera, duca & I offered to have a bonfire with s’mores, guitars, juice boxes, and the like with them but they never came so I just ended up with a stomach ache and smelling like smoke. They’re just too uptight. Instead of joking back they spout off verbal diarrhea like “your just mad that Edward gets more play than you” and its just sad because they’re using fictional characters as ammunition. I just eat it up though when they start self destructing and fighting amongst themselves. Haha.
May 16th, 2008 at 12:02 pm
well, i just had to make an appearance.. thanks DREW for the obligatory “stop posting twilight stuff” comment, we couldnt have proceeded without it.
im sure these images are like heroin to the twilighters, but they are just pictures of kids to me. i dont see any magic or wizards or dragons anywhere (
May 16th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
You are SO welcome.
May 16th, 2008 at 1:24 pm
for some reason 75 percent of my last comment was cut off.. o well, it was pretty funny i think
May 16th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Don’t feel alone. I had a comment in moderation for from 730 to 330 today for no reason. I was wondering why either you had a lone parenthesis or a frowny face with no eyes (and why you were making them ha).
May 16th, 2008 at 1:42 pm
im trying to remember what i said… basically the pics are boring. i want to see emma watson get it on with a vampire instead of kristen stewart. emma watson is too good for this movie…. and then i thanked peter for posting the article and letting my arrogance bring visitors to the site to debate with me and my colleagues, something along those lines. it was funnier when i said it the first time, o well
May 16th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
I just thought of something…. If he’s been 17 for ‘a while’ and he’s currently attending high school (because he meets her in Biology..?) then why the HELL didn’t anyone notice that he’d been in Grade 11 for like, 20 years? Do they move every year or something?
Plus, why would he go to school in the first place? If I was a 100 year old vampire I sure as hell wouldn’t. Plus, staying out of school would draw less attention since people wouldn’t be right up front observing how you don’t age. I mean, it’s pretty common for there to be a 17 year old drop out, right? *confused*
May 16th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
duca, you are simply naming my aforementioned “bricks of lameness”. Like I said this movie looks so stupid I think its only smart to try and put past us these loopholes and idiocies and try to ignore this movie like its a really really dumb bee.
May 16th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
duca, dont read into it too much, all of those things are so obvious that pointing them out is like making fun of a cripple. you have to give the twilighters a sporting chance to defend this thing
May 16th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
hmmm….you guys keep bashing the movie….why? I don’t know and will never find out but I’m really excited to see that this movie. The Teaser is very good and makes you want to see more. Bashing the movie will only make Twi-Hards love this movie even more!
Peace!
May 16th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
LoL. Okay…since i read the books I’ll go ahead and offer
a bit of the reasons why.
Yes, the Cullens do move around quite a bit. They will settle into
an area for a while and live, but since they don’t age and are living
among society then will pack up and move to another area, which
is prone to overcast weather. This isn’t out right said, but it is
insinuated.
Since the 4 siblings all are of high school age they will attend school
to look like a normal family, so the “kids” have gone and
graduated from high school several times in their years AND have
gone to college as well. They’re a bunch of educated vamps to
to go along with their sparkle. (sorry, couldn’t resist.)
I’m actually laughing to myself as I explain because it does seem
rather silly, to be honest. You can also tell that Edward and the
others are quite bored with school and don’t take it very seriously.
Really, why should they? It’s all review. I think it might take more
patience to go through the same classes than it would to resist
the temptation of feeding on humans.
May 16th, 2008 at 4:35 pm
Yes I agree! I think I would go skipping like two times a week just to have fun and not review the same old stuff that I know. School can get boring after some years of repeating the SAME grade over and over.
(12/12/08)
May 16th, 2008 at 4:43 pm
@Meli
Okay, so you just pointed out the whole flaw in their “attending high school” logicness. If they can get away with being a college student, then they don’t have to go to school. I mean, how many people don’t go to college after high school? It’s not like they’d have any trouble convincing someone they graduated and decided to stay in town working/chillaxn’ before moving on. Oh wait! *slaps head* That would make it even MORE creepy that he’s hitting on a 17 year old! I get it now.
I’m not sure on the ages of the other family members but all I know is that people do age in high school. I look completely different in my Grade 8 photo to my Grade 12, and I think that could go for everyone here. The only way they could get away with it is if they moved every 2 years to a new school. It still doesn’t make any sense to me… >_
May 16th, 2008 at 4:44 pm
ah my post got cut off… *pouts* And I went on this big rant about stupid people and books too. Oh well. ^_^
May 16th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
@duca
Well now we’re just really getting into what may be the reason behind it all. LoL
I think they really only live in a place for no more than four years
and that is a total guessing point on my side. A couple of years
of high school or so and then off to college IF they go local. If
they don’t…then they do leave after a couple of years of staying
in one place..? Edward and Alice are said to be 17 and Rosalie,
Jasper and Emmet are a year older.
Granted if they chose to live in a more secluded place, even though
Forks is super small town, they wouldn’t have to bother with school.
However, these guys all live among the human race and the ‘father’
Carlisle is a doctor.
May 16th, 2008 at 4:54 pm
Ya know…..sometimes accepting and not trying to understand
the ‘logic’ is better. LoL
May 16th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
Home school would simply make more sense. Why not? And it would actually make more sense for them to almost live in a city. There they would be one more face in the crowd and no one would even blink twice at them for not attending school. Trust me, being in a small town actually invites more scrutiny. In a small town everyone knows exactly what everyone else is doing. I’ve spent the last 20 years in a town just like Forks so I know how the small town rumour mill works. They wouldn’t be able to get away with squat.
I’m sorry, I just can’t drop the logic on this. Movies/books that have massive holes in their plots bug the poop out of me; books more so then movies. It just seems like sloppy story telling. “I want my vampire to meet a 17 year old, therefore he will attend high school.” It’s just such a cope out.
May 16th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
You’re like a mason with all these lame-bricks duca.
May 17th, 2008 at 2:03 am
@duca
I’m not going to defend the writing of the books
I’ve already said they are mediocre. There are flaws. The books
are teenage level and I understand why they are loved by the age
group. In my opinion if they stick to the idea of the book and add
more meat to round the story then the movie will be good. I hope
it is. Honestly, there is not to much hope when books are made into
movies.
May 17th, 2008 at 5:49 am
Hey big daddy, do you feel a breeze?
May 17th, 2008 at 10:05 am
It seems the devoted Twilight fan must come in and stick up for everyone else who’s too chicken to defend the books.
Obviously I’ve been reading over some of your comments, all of which have bugged me to core, but that’s not the point. I’m sure you all will get a rich, and sick, sense of pride from annoying a fan of a book. Granted, I haven’t read all of your pointless chatter after I started reading the ‘high school setting’ debate. For goodness sakes, why don’t you all chill? It is just a book, and if you want to bash it, sure go ahead, but couldn’t you find something more useful to do with your time? Why post on a page for the Twilight movie if you only want to rag on it? It’s just utterly idiotic and pointless.
I’ve found the books to be highly entertaining AND well written. You can pick pick pick at the writing style and the setting and every thing about it, but I’d like to see you write a book. Honestly, go out there and write a book. If you can write one, get it published, and get it made big, I’ll eat something that should not be eaten (preferably not a hat, though).
So, to put it bluntly, shut up your useless chatter and go write that book.
^^
May 17th, 2008 at 11:03 am
@ Meli
Did I call it or did I call it?
@ Sydney
You don’t consider fanboy rants/challenges idiotic, pointless, useless chatter though do you? Post like that just affirm in people’s heads, whether right or wrong, what a twilighter is.
May 17th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
@ Meli
How can you expect the story to be meated up and rounded out? Its being directed by a WOMAN. I’m not trying to be sexist here but most woman can’t direct for shit. Especially Catherine Hardwicke.
@Sydney
The point of the critical comments is to show people just how DUMB this movie (and the books) are, so no one goes to see the movie, so it will tank, so sequels won’t be made, and so the studio that’s making this TERRIBLE movie can move on to making something that isn’t complete GARBAGE. Maybe then the movie industry will realize that instead of pumping out endless WASTES of films, that some time and effort on one will be much better recieved than t(w)een vampire lovey-dovey BULL-SHIT.
Oh and when I write my book, I’ll make sure it doesn’t SUCK before releasing it to the world.
May 17th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
@Sydney
I have every right to discuss the plot/setting of the book because it is for all intent and purposes also the plot/setting of the movie. I’m not bashing it in any way, I’m critiquing it. There is a huge difference between the two, which is why Meli was discussing it in such a mature manner with me. I am honestly curious about these plot elements and as I said before they will probably be the difference between me giving this a chance and me ignoring it and/or making fun of it (because I do that).
I’m sorry if you are offended by my criticism. I have taken several Literature courses and so I have the bad habit of analyzing and critiquing the things I read and see. Don’t get me wrong, I suspend these things if a movie or book manages to capture me and transport me into another world, but the basics of plot, characterization, and setting must be in place. Every authors work is picked apart this way, and the more popular a piece it becomes the more it will be debated. Trust me, I have seen much more heated debates on the works of Chaucer and Milton then you could imagine. That doesn’t mean I don’t like them still, just that I’m willing to hold them up to be judged. Being written for “Teenagers” is no excuse for taking literary short cuts.
Obviously the core of the story is not the setting or plot, but rather the interaction between Bella and Edward and the “Deep emotional bond” between them. Since this is true then why not shift the setting a bit? Make Bella a couple of years older and attending a college or university in say… Seattle. Then the age difference wouldn’t be creepy and it makes a hell of a lot more sense for Edward to be attending classes there. After all, a university is a much more appropriate learning environment for a vampire of that age. Would that really change the story significantly? Or would it simply make it harder to sell to teenage girls?
I have a suggestion for you, please don’t take offense to it. If you’ve enjoyed Twilight then may I recommend some books to you? They are also considered “teen” literature. The Everworld series by K.A. Applegate and Looking for Alaska by John Green.
May 17th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
@Floppy - yep you called it! :) It really was only a matter of time.
@Drew - while I can respect your opinion on women directors, I
can also still find comepletely sexist.
I think Harwicke is an okay director and I think she’s
suitable for this material and she could surprise with a decent
flick.
@Sydney - I don’t think we’ve been bashing Twilight at all. Duca
and I were having an intelligent conversation. Just because I read
and was entertained by the books doesn’t mean I didn’t find any
faults or flaws. I’m not required to blindly praise and love the novels. I’m sorry if you feel offended and you’re welcome to disagree with our comments, but there’s no need to rant. Why not
join in the conversation and off some of your own personal insight.
May 18th, 2008 at 8:26 am
@Floppy; Pfft, yeah, Im a pretty crazy fan of Twilight. If you think this is bad, you should see me when somebody bashes My Chemical Romance. I go all ‘kung fu crazy fan girl’ on them xD.
@DREW; Then how about YOU just not go see it? To you, its obviously a waste of money, but why get every one else to hate it if they don’t? This stuff isnt just coporal bullshit, this book has a wide fan base and many people are excited to see it, so no matter how much you whine your ass off, people are still going to see it. Granted, I have very high hopes and expectations, which Im sure the movie won’t meet, but as long as it doesn’t tank out loud than I’m happy to spend my money. Hell I’d sleep outside the movie theatre if I had to, but online ticket sales have defeated that purpose now.
Oh, and I guess that means you’ll never be publishing a book, because whatever horrible rubbish you spew out will never amount to Stephenie Meyer, nor any other writer.
@duca; Well, I guess I do agree with the setting change when you put it that way. Frankly, I don’t really care for the high school setting, it kind of seems monotone to me. And Edward would probably fit in more in the collage scene, since he is so intelligent and no one would question his age because of the wide span of ages at a college. It’d probably even be easier for Bella and Edward to be together since they’d be living away from parents and friends who they could put in danger and they could actually live with each other if they pleased. Mhmmm…okay, I’ll admit, you’ve got a point there xD.
I think I’ve heard of both those books you mentioned. I’ll check them out never the less…I’m actually more of a horror genre reader, like Stephen King. Vampires have just been my natural favorite since I was really young. But thanks, I’ll definitely check them out.
@Meli ; Mhmm, well, I guess technically you weren’t bashing, but it kind of felt that way to me. I guess I appologize :P:P Gahh, don’t rub it in, please. xD
I haven’t read the books in a while, actually, so I can’t offer much insight to flaws. The writing style was pretty decent, now that I think about it it was somewhat ‘teen’ directed, I gues, but I still enjoyed it thoroughly. It sucks though cause I pictured the high school not to be so elaborate as its shown in the movie and Bella’s house a little less modern xD. Also, the trio of vampires that come aren’t necessarily mortal enemies to the Cullens in the book, well not immediately, so that kind of sucks.
I just hope that if this movie goes well, they continue on, because I definitely want to see the Volturi in New Moon, and the werewolves in Eclipse =DD
May 18th, 2008 at 11:23 pm
@Sydney - I would never think of gloating! :) And I’m in
agreement with you as far as IF we get a good film in
December I would very much like to see New Moon and Eclipse
as films. Eclipse definitely my favorite out of the three. More action
and plenty of drama!
May 19th, 2008 at 7:43 am
These pictures are hilarious every time. Their faces just crack me up.
May 19th, 2008 at 8:02 am
hehe, I know. These are two of the most serious people…I
hope there will be a few smiles otherwise they’re just going to
look miserable through the entire film.
May 19th, 2008 at 8:12 am
She reminds me of the doll from Lars and the Real Girl.
May 24th, 2008 at 11:29 am
Seriously, if you hate the books so damn much, why the hell even bother posting about it? Honestly? Obviously, pretty much none of you who commented on the books have lives. Get over yourselves, damn it. The books are actually really awesome & I don’t see why everyone is just dying to trash it. It’s just some books & a movie. Everyone knows that everything in Hollywood is just a load of you-know-what & no one EVER said that the books were non-fiction. Besides, it’s not like someone forced you to read the damn books or anything else.
GET A LIFE!
May 24th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
@True Fan. Hmmm. When did I trash the books? Please don’t
lump. And this is a movie site, not a book site, so everyone
is free to say what they feel about the movie trailer, the movie
posters and pictures presented. They are all entitled to their
opinion whether you or even I agree. I’ve enjoyed the YA novels
and have been able to objectively discuss the movie news. So
I think it is you who needs to take a look at yourself and ask,
is it really lambasting? Did what you said help convert anyone to your side? Did you even try to see the other side’s opinion? Keep balanced and objective. As much as you can.
May 24th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
@ all the repeat posting twilight haters: wow…you people are…I don’t even know what to say! Its a movie people! I’m a BIG fan, but you would think this was a political debate or something:( So you don’t like the books/movie, thats your right and opinion. Must you degrade the author and the fans while expressing that? Do you really have nothing better than to come on here and comment constantly saying basically the same things? You don’t like it, you hope its bombs, blah blah, we get it now! Next…move on and let the fans enjoy it. Its our right just as much as its yours to not enjoy it. Don’t you have something better to do? @drew: …like writing that book!
May 25th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
Oookay there Christina. Sorry we took some time to intelligently
talk about our prespectives. Do you have nothing better to do
than to tell us how we shouldn’t have an opinion?
May 26th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
Edward is so cute
but they could have found a better Bella
May 26th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
To Meli,
There’s always a problem in a fan site and right
now it looks like you are the problem.
So get your but and temper out of here and let the fans enjoy this site.
May 26th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Alright, clearly this is ridiculous and I should stop, I’m feeling a little immature at the moment.
@Yuliya, I said nothing in anger, so I’m not entirely sure where
you’re coming from. And who said I wasn’t enjoying the site?
I read the news and comment often. Just because there might
be some critical thinking going on doesn’t mean I’m not interested
in the upcoming movie. Do you think I shouldn’t comment at all
because I was teeming with excitement and praise? If so,
well, that isn’t going to happen, but I’d be fine discussing why
you might think anything I’ve said is unjust or out of line.
May 27th, 2008 at 1:00 pm
See Meli fend for her life (and her own opinions) in ATTACK OF THE TWILIGHT RADICALS!. I couldn’t resist Meli. I go away for three days and come back to this hilarious mess of you and big daddy (oddest duo ever) squaring off against a new wave of rabid twilighters who are obviously cannibalistic too.
This isn’t a fan site, it’s a movie blog and arguing about why a movie could possibly bomb or succeed is half the fun/point of a movie blog.
May 27th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
LOL, Floppy. I was beginning to feel ganged up on. =P
I know I should probably just ignore the comments,
but -shrug- It’s been kind of fun challenging them.
May 27th, 2008 at 2:27 pm
@ meli
thats why i keep doing it.. its nice to know not all twilight fans are mindless drones.. you give me hope
May 27th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
LoL!
I’m sort of looking forward to more news, so we can get
a new post and see who invades the comments section.
I hear MTV is going to show a scene from the movie this
Sunday before the VMAs. I’m really hoping it’ll be better
than the sloppy teaser.
May 27th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Did i say VMAs….sorry, that was wrong..it’s the Movie Awards…
no videos…lol.

Well, it’s been awhile since I’ve stopped by…
Just thought I’d let you folks know that the reason you don’t have a thousand comments from disgruntled Twilighters is that the lexicon no longer includes you (and a couple other sites where some of the more embarrassing discussions have taken place) in their little news section. Such a shame…
@Meli
Looking forward to the presentation on MTV even though the last time I watched an MTV awards presentation, I felt like I was watching a bunch of clowns while on acid…and it wasn’t fun, either.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
@Tina,
Ironically I have seen more intelligent
posters on the Lexicon than those who visited here, so
perhaps they came from other places as well?
I can’t remember the last time I watched the Movie Adwards…
I will probably just wait till the scene is available online later that night.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
@Meli
People go to the Lex for news who don’t necessarily post there, but yeah–youre probably right about them coming from other places–who knows really, I just noticed that after that initial onslaught of irate twilighters (I think there were over 1600 comments on the first blog this site had on Twilight), the Lex removed the /film’s link from their news blog and haven’t put it up since.
Hopefully there will be some good(funny) discussion here after the scene is onveiled on MTV. I remain hopeful that it will prove to be a good scene…Then again, I wasn’t disappointed in the trailer.

@Meli
Sorry I didn’t come to your defense when the Twihards came by. To be honest I thought this thread was dead lol I don’t see why me debating the potential plot for the film with you can be considered “hating”.
lol I too am waiting eagerly for the clip to be shown this weekend (although to be honest I’m just going to watch it online *shrugs*). It will be the first opportunity for REAL debate on the potential quality of the film to be heard. A complete scene is a lot different from a teaser trailer after all. It will be QUITE exciting in that particular thread me thinks.
@Yuliya - This is not a fan site. This is a movie blog. Around here everyone states their opinion, good or bad on a particular movie and 9 times out of 10 it’s a 50/50 split. We don’t flame eachother because we don’t agree. We discuss, debate, and joke around. It’s called having ‘fun’. You should try it sometime.
@Tina - After I started arguing with people about this I decided to do some research into Twilight and the online fandom (because I have no life :P). I have discovered that out of all of the big movie blogs any that voiced even a slightly uniformed/uninterested/negative review or post were subsequently flamed for it. The rest either said positive things, or else didn’t say anything at all. I find it kind of sad that a fandom can react in such an extreme way to criticism. It appears that the Lexicon is either embarrassed by the behavior of Twihards, or has decided that negative criticism is not worth mentioning. I don’t really care either way but it does say a lot about the maturity of the fans, eh?

Reading through a lot of comments on Twilight in this web/blog, it saddens me that the bulk of rude comments, joke or no joke, come from the haters. If this reflects their attitude in real life then my sympathies to their mothers and spouses.
Criticism can be conveyed in a polite and non-condescending tone and you won’t get stormed by counter comments this way. There are always choices on how to express your opinion, one can only hope that people will choose the civilized one.
I agree with the other poster that Peter Sciretta should stop posting anymore Twilight news here, I don’t think this will generate more traffic to this web/blog considering that, either because the Twilight Lexicon was embarrassed as Duca said or actually has better manner than the haters here, there are less and less comments generated by the Twihards.

the trailer was great….personally people it is a fantasy movie..get over it…..They make a great couple…if you believe in the books you will believe in the movie..you haven’t seen the whole movie yet too be making bad comments…
June 8th, 2008 at 11:41 am
I am with Zoey. We HAVEN’T seen the movie, so why are people commenting so poorly over it. I mean, we know the books were good. Stephenie Meyer wrote it, and according to her official website, http://www.stepheniemeyer.com, she is helping with the movie. So, I think it will be great, as long as she is there helping direct.
That is just my opinion. I know that on the other page, there were some people commenting on it that haven’t even read the book and were saying they thought it would be bad. You have to read the book to really have any idea what you’re talking about.
The poster looked cool, but a little overdone. I still think it will be awesome, though! I cannot wait to read the next two books, the one from Bella’s point of view (Breaking Dawn), and the one from Edward’s point of view (Midnight Sun. I think that Edward’s point of view should be really interesting!

OMG I DONT C WHY EVERY ONE IS DISSING ON THIS MOVIE B4 IT IS EVEN OUT..THIS MOVIE LOOKS LIKE ITS GONNA ROCK!!!!!!!
June 19th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
OMG!!!! WHy are u stupid people looking at this if you didn’t read the books. IT IS NOT A CHEAP DISNEY CHANNEL MOVIE!!! what is wrong with people today. When it becomes the #1 most watched movie ro whatever, that will show you! What is up with all the haters? This movie will be the best!!!!
June 19th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
That is exactly what I said. If they haven’t read the book, why are they saying that it should be really bad? I think everyone should read the book before they hate too much. I agree, the movie probably will be one of the best movies and the people that believed in the movie will sit back and laugh while the others pout. (I hope that won’t be literal…)
Yeah, I know the poster kinda sucked. But hey, dudes, that doesn’t mean the whole frickin’ movie will! I think we shouldn’t stomp on it too much, because they will probably change a lot of things that they have done and are doing right now–probably some of the things you all are critisizing right now. They are going to review and make changes.
I am voting that the movie will be great, and I don’t care what anyone says about me and I don’t care if people call me an over absessed fan, because I guess I am. I am proud to be one. Later!!!
June 19th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
Damn, my head hurts.
June 19th, 2008 at 11:06 pm

June 23rd, 2008 at 11:32 am
@ Meli & duca
I leave for two weeks and you go and let this happen? haha.
June 24th, 2008 at 7:02 pm
AAHHH!!!! are there any sane posts any more. 2 people r having a conversation. Not that there is anything wrong with that but, can we plz get back 2 the Twilight subject!!
June 25th, 2008 at 8:19 am
Twilight is awesome, in my opinion and I strongly disagree
with almost everyone’s opionion up here. Honestly how
many people up here have actually read the book. Gosh. I love Edward and I love Jacob. I love vampires and werewolfs this story has a stronge plotline, and characters like Bella that peole in real life can really connect to. I’m really looking foward to this movie and hoping that it stays accurate to the books. Though her and Edward are never in the trees in the book so I don’t know what that’s all about. The people up here dissing this book who haven’t read it, I advise you do so. I wouldn’t be surprised if you had a change of heart. Actually I’d be surprised if you didn’t.
This is Jess sticking up for the Twilight books like more people should. Come on Twilight fans were are you?
June 25th, 2008 at 11:51 am
i cant believe people are still defending this book. no one has attacked it. the movie is what we are talking about, totally seperate things. whats wrong with all of you? cant you read? i assume you can since you are creaming yourselves over the damn book. pay attention, please. the movie looks like shit. bottom line. did i mention the book? nope.
June 25th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
@ big daddy
It’s not even entertaining any more, it’s just sad. The teaser trailer thread (awesome display of alliteration) has some excruciatingly sad comments along the lines of:
“If you can’t read these books while listening to My Chemical Romance at max volume and cry out to be in that world where people who don’t understand you like your parents don’t live or realize this is better than Shakespeare you are stupid. Suck on that!” That’s almost verbatim. Even the other Twilighters are asking them to shut up.
June 25th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
@ Jess
Here is one of the Twilight fans. I am standing up for it, but it does have a few things that are going to probably need to be fixed. But I still think it will be great.
June 25th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
What I find to be incredibly amusing is that almost no one replied to the thread with the actual clip of the movie. It seems that now that we have legitiamate material to critique no one has anything to say in defense of it.
According to the ‘completed clip’ it is not going to be an epic movie. Perhaps if they can fix some of the bigger erks (the cheesie sound effects for example) and stay far away from action (I’m sorry, but that scene was just very poorly choreographed) it might turn out to be a semi-decent teen flick romance. However, such a movie does not normally appeal to the regulars who post here at /film. Therefore, we will most likely continue to diss it. Intelligently and humourlessly.
@Twilight fans
We are not trying to ‘diss’ your book. You can go ahead and love it if you wish. However, we have every right to critque this movie based on the material that has been presented to us. We are NOT judging the book. Seldom is a book to movie (even comic book to movie) adaptation 100% faithful to the book. The good ones take the flavour of the book and translate it to film. Twilight has a particularly hard adaptation because it is told from first person, therefore leaving out a lot of what is going on outside of Bellas head. It also has a lot of its charm from the interaction and romance of Bella and Edward. In order to appeal to a broader audience it has been fleshed out and ‘actioned’ up when (in my opinion) the opposite should of occured. It is almost 100% the action that has us up in arms after all, but that is also almost entirely what they are marketing so far. I’m rambling now. The point is it doesn’t matter how good the book is when the movie is a completely different entity.
June 25th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
-smacks forehead- And I thought if the silence continued the
crazy comments would go away.
I want to give out one piece of advice to you book fans looking
forward to the movie. Don’t expect the book. From what I have
seen it looks as if they have added and changed quite a lot.
I’m actually like some of the changes I’ve observed. It’s not always a bad thing.
I didn’t think the “completed” scene was too terrible. I didn’t like
the music, but I know it’s only temporary filler. I don’t like the
wire work at all, but we’re stuck with that, unfortunately. The sound
effect when they moved?? Goodness I HOPE that is removed
because talk about lame.

Okay. so i can see that this is dead, but i thought i’d write my opinioun(sp?) anyway. I am a huge fan of this series. The book series. It is one of my favorites. I also have picked up holes and such in the plot and really have enjoyed reading other people’s opinions. I’ve really looked at the book in a new light, and i thank you all for it. And for all the other Twilighters like myself, saying a book or series has faults doesn’t take the magic out of it for you :]
As for the movie, i’m not expecting much. I am very excited for it but i’m bracing myself for the worst. So far it seems a lot different from the book’s storyline and in general, it doesn’t look as good as most people are expecting it to be. When i go to see it i won’t go in expecting to see a movie based on a book i love, but a movie that has taken the jist of that book and “Hollywoodised” it. Hahaa.
