Kung Fu Panda

DreamWorks Animation has released the second movie trailer for Kung Fu Panda. I had the chance to catch an unfinished print of this film back in March, and had very low expectations as I’ve never really been impressed by DreamWorks Animated films. So when I say I really enjoyed Kung Fu Panda, that means a lot. What the movie lacks in character design, it makes up for in laughs. It’s a fun take on the classic kung fu genre. This new trailer, not so much. Tell me what you think in the comments below.

Official Plot Synopsis: Enthusiastic, big and a little clumsy, Po (Jack Black) is the biggest fan of kung fu around…which doesn’t exactly come in handy while working every day in his family’s noodle shop.  Unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po’s dreams become reality when he joins the world of kung fu and studies alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five—Tigress (Angelina Jolie), Crane (David Cross), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Viper (Lucy Liu) and Monkey (Jackie Chan)—under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman).  But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung (Ian McShane) is headed their way, and it’s up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat.  Can he turn his dreams of becoming a kung fu master into reality?  Po puts his heart into the task, and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths.

You can watch the trailer in High Definition on Yahoo. Kung Fu Panda hits theaters on June 6th 2008.

Why why why do animated movies feel they need big name actors voicing the characters? Really THAT sells?

It’s a shame that such a fantastic looking visuals are wasted on such an inane script.

Is computer animation just going to continue to be used in this fashion or are we actually going to get something new and fresh one day?

I saw the movie back last year, when changes were still being made and 70% of the movie was storyboard. I liked it, and i was very impressed!

So tired of 3d animation. I look forward to 2d making a comeback in the US.

looks like a one joke movie.

oh,.. and what the Captain said. For lack of a better word, it really lacks “warmth.”

    “I said Pandaaaaaaa”

Give it a break, it’s not the Godfather but it’s also not Norbit. Looks like fun, I’ll see it.

Can we get a moratorium on using Battle with Honour or Humanity used in movie trailers? When Tarantino did it in Kill Bill, it was fresh. Now everyone throws it in.
