Want to buy a Joker action figure for the upcoming film The Dark Knight? Good luck finding one. WENN reports that fans have cleaned out New York toy stores’ entire supply of Heath Ledger’s Mattel-produced Joker action figure within minutes of them going on sale. An employee of Times Square’s Toys R Us store claims that there are none left in the warehouse and that fans will be waiting a while if they want one. The $9.99-priced figure is currently selling on eBay for up to $55 each. Although some auctions are ending for around double the purchase price.

I saw the cheaper version that didn’t look like Heath Ledger for $8.99 in KB Toys. I took a pass. I’m a collector, and I have sold on ebay, and in the past had tables at conventions. The profiterering on toys is really disgraceful. I usually buy one, or maybe two. but people horde this stuff like there’s no tomorrow, just to flip a buck on ebay.

“Jingle All the Way”?

What Pete said.
It’s why I like when shops take a proactive approach and punch holes into the cardboard backings to these. It’s hilarious seeing grown men throwing a fit about a toy they never plan to open or play with.
or just in general seeing a grown man throw a fit.

Do the hands on this figure rotate? Cause his thumb is pointing the wrong way.

Pill,
It’s where he puts all those wonderful toys.

@Pill
lmfao
@Anthony
That’s the back of his hand facing towards us in the picture. It looks like his forearm rotates.

I’m not surprised at all.

I sort of collect action figures (I have some) and sit them on my shelf, but at least I open them and play with them (occasionally). Heh, it’s actually pretty funny having Obi-Wan and Jack Sparrow duke it out. X]
Hah! He does indeed have a long crotch.

This doesn’t look like Heath at all :|

I agree with you, Allynd. I don’t think it looks like Heath Ledger, either.
Funny. I sort of thought the opposite would occur, you know, people not wanting to have Heath as a doll? As if the joker isn’t a creepy enough character, I don’t think I’d want an action figure that looked like him…
That’s just me, though.
I guess all that “it’s-too-soon-to-show-Heath-as-a-creepy-guy” hype is over, then? People are excited to see the movie now?

Have manufactures learned nothing from a certain genius called..Todd motherfucking McFarlane?
do your research HASBRO, stop releasing these shit looking toys.

A lot of action figures still don’t end up looking like the people they’re modeled after. Kind of sad, but it’s true.
At least it looks more like him than that other one Pete was talking about.
And people, at least Batman fans, have been excited for this movie ever since they found out there would be a second one (after Begins). Especially with all the viral stuff online (and offline). I think it’s good that they’re continuing with all the marketing stuff despite Ledger’s death instead of covering stuff up and changing their plans (honor his last work, ignoring it would be an insult). But I agree with you, Ali. I thought the whole idea of a TDK Joker action figure was just ridiculous. I mean, it’s not a kids’ movie, and Ledger definitely makes one hell of a Joker … Plus, I mean, the movie’s rated PG-13! But it’s all about money, of course. I guess having one as a “collector’s” edition would be more understandable, but these things are in stores like Toys ‘R Us! People are getting these for their kids. :|

It looks more like the Crow.
And people that buy stuff to resell on ebay just suck.

I think you people who are cashing in on heath ledgers death should be ashamed of yourselves! He is barely gone three month’s.you make me wanna puke.

How are we cashing in on Ledger’s death? It’s not like we’re buying tribute shirts some random guy made up to get a quick buck. I would have been looking to buy this (and probably will, once I can find one) even if he hadn’t died, because it’s the Joker. And WB would have still made this even if he hadn’t died.

Plus, we’re buying them, not selling them, heh.
