Cinematical has released the first official cast photo from the upcoming big screen adaptation of Twilight. Apparently the last bunch were unapproved character test shots. Fans seem to be very pleased with the look of the characters.

That is not at all how i pictured Edward or his family.
Now let the Bashing about an average drama book begin.
And yes i did read the first one and did not enjoy it.

  2. Gravatar

haha, Mallrat vampires from The Hills.

  3. Gravatar

oh right, no way does this resemble the covenant, no way…

  4. Gravatar

Something about that kid’s head bothers me.

  5. Gravatar

    They all look so… damp.

  6. Gravatar

They all look so… FAGGOTY and stupid.

  7. Gravatar

Ehhh…a little photoshopped for my taste. I liked the test shots better. Still, I am head-over-heels in love with this cast. I can’t wait for the movie to come out. It should be pretty fun to watch.

And “Larry Leonardo”? C’mon, that’s uncalled for. Call ‘em stupid, but what’s the point of using the word faggot?

Also, Orange Cinema - if I recall, the Covenant didn’t involve vampires, like, at all. So..?

  8. Gravatar

    Emos minus band logos!

I can’t believe this series has fans :|

  9. Gravatar

    blah. i expected better.

  10. Gravatar

I admit I dont know much about this book or story, but honestly, with promotion photos like that, you can tell the direction they are taking the movie is going to be for a bunch of faggot teenagers. those look like promos for a bad tv show on fox.
you may love the book but this movie is gonna blow dicks.

  11. Gravatar

I am 13 years old, a harbor of faggotry, and I am very excited for this movie.

  12. Gravatar

Robert Pattinson has a deformed head. It was very distracting in Harry Potter.

  13. Gravatar

Sb. One thing. This isn’t a fan site. It’s a movie blog. Many people read this with a varying degree of opinions and likes and dislikes. That means, that “fans” and “people who are indifferent” and “people who down-right Hate what this movie stands for” all meander through this site.

Second, why write as if you’re texting someone? Worse, why write as if you’re a 12 year old prepubescent girl?

Agreed, the guy in the front, his head is funny looking. However, the chick in the back to the left is pretty cute. I’d google her.

  14. Gravatar

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS MOVIE

  15. Gravatar

I believe S.B. was being satirical.

  16. Gravatar

Thats gotta be one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.

  17. Gravatar

    Cedric Diggory a vampire? Preposterous.

  18. Gravatar

Someone went crazy with the air brush.

  19. Gravatar

I’m with Captain Awesome on this one.

This is exactly what the cast of The Hills would look like if every bulb in every tanning bed in Los Angeles blew out.

That almost brought a tear to my eye.

  20. Gravatar

This is something as bad as something you’d see on the WB or CW whatever. Worse then Smallville. And it’s a movie? Yeaaaah no thanks.

  21. Gravatar

Kristen Stewart’s still beautiful though. Nikki Reek looks weird compared to her last movies. Might be the paleness.

  22. Gravatar

Sweet! To bad they didn’t make Rosalie look hotter, she’s the girl on the right. She is supposed to be the hottest women ever, right?

  23. Gravatar

Kirsten Stewart’s “still” beautiful? To each their own.

I want to paint them red, white and green and spray paint “Why so serious?” on the picture.

  24. Gravatar

    ZOMG!!! This is AWESOME!!!
    Can’t wait for this!!!!!
    OMG BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!

  25. Gravatar

Damn.. not even the actual characterization for Goku has that volume of hair..

  26. Gravatar

Faggotry? What an idiotic response. I dont really care for the picture but the premise sounds interesting. Sounds very similarBuffy/Angel releationship. Was it written before?

  27. Gravatar

No seriously. If Peter never titled the entry ‘Twilight’, I would’ve guessed it was a crappy remake of some show like Charmed…

This movie is dying. It still can pick itself up from this picture, but its dying neverthless. I never read to book, but my little sister basically says this adaption. Will. Suck. Balls.

  28. Gravatar

I’ll watch it b/c I’m a fan of Kristen Stewart. I highly enjoyed the books also, but if it weren’t for Kristen Stewart, ..meh

  29. Gravatar

personaly i love the books they are an absolutly amazing series but i think the cast could be better. . .they look nothing like how stephenie described them in her books tho i still plan to go see the movie i dont have my hopes up

  30. Gravatar

ok so i am dissapointed with the way the cast looks. Just think there are some great make up artists there that will work on them, to look more like the books discribed them. This picture is terrible Edward looks stoned or something lol

  31. Gravatar

Hmm a few comments that got my attention:

from: Larry Leonardo “They all look so… FAGGOTY and stupid”

from: Fatality “the movie is going to be for a bunch of faggot teenagers… this movie is gonna blow dicks.”

Wow. So I’ve read that Twilight fans were rash and rabid with their defensive comments. But these comments are on a whole new level of immaturity.

I don’t know when this became an ‘us’ vs ‘them’ thing (twilight fans vs others) but can we please keep discussions civil? Why use language like that? Did the picture REALLY make you feel that way, or were you just looking for reactions? I don’t know why you got such a passionate hatred for a movie based on a photo.. You can say you don’t like it, looks fake, whatever you want… but keep your comments constructive!

  32. Gravatar

That is how i pictures that family, but thats a really stupid person to play Edward. I have read all three books, and i am dying for the 4th to come out, but Seriously tho, people really should have thought a little harder about the main characters actor. Edward to me, is buff and sexy, This former dead harry potter freak, is nothing like Edward, or anything Edward should be. Hell, the werewolves are going to look better in their wolf form then Edward will, as a person. I dont like to bash people, but its rediculous, there are a lot of actors Meyer had posted that looked the part of Edward, why she didnt chose one of them, i will never know. Well, i love the books, and i will still see the movie when it comes out, but if it sux i just dont know what me and my friends will do, we love the series, it would be stupid for it to go to waste, b/c of one stupidly chosen actor from Harry Potter. Sry again if i made an one upset, ( Edward needs to be bigger(bulkier.))

  33. Gravatar

    Hi Sarah,

Stephanie M. did have a list of ‘actors in her head’ that could fit the part of the movie… but that was only for fun. She actually had NO say whatsoever in who was cast in her movies… she said that in a lot of interviews when people got so angry when the casting for Bella and Edward was announced.

But honestly there is NO actor in the world that could meet everyone’s expectations for a book character. I mean, Clark Gable fought long and hard against his casting his Gone With the Wind because he knew how popular the book was and he wanted nothing to do with disappointing so many readers… and look what that part did for him! Give Robert P. a chance… he might not embody the character in your head very well, but its only an adaptation. My biggest concerns for the actor was mostly that he could ACT and that him and Kristen S. would have good chemistry together… and from what I’ve seen so far I’m happy. I think they look great together, and some ‘behind the scenes’ stuff I’ve read makes it sound as if they have amazing chemistry. PLUS, Robert read all the books before they started filming and really put a lot of thought into ‘becoming’ Edward. He could quote you the books just as easily as all the rabid fans… And I’d wager that is much more effort than most actors would put into a part, even if they were ‘bulkier’ as you put it.

So let’s just wait and give him a chance before we think he can’t pull it off! I actually started out thinking ‘meh’ but now am entirely excited to see what he can do with the part :-)

To all Twilight fans, I wanted to share this piece of an interview with Mike Welch about the possibility of making New Moon and Eclipse into movies as well:

    ***************
Finally, I just had to ask - was there talk among the cast and crew about the sequels being made into films as well? He had this to say, “All I can say is that right after I was cast Catherine [Hardwicke] called me to congratulate me and welcome me… I asked her about the possibilities of the sequels being made into movies. She said we wouldn’t know for sure until the opening weekend of Twilight, depending on how popular this film is.” He went on to say, “I’m not too worried about that, I’m pretty confident that Twilight is going to do well.” -

So keep in mind, Twilighters (or Twi-hards as Michael affectionately calls us), that while it’s not anywhere near being a done deal (Stephenie still hasn’t sold the rights, as far as we know anyway) but it’s definitely a possibility. I, for one, plan on seeing the movie multiple times opening week anyway…

    from: http://thehost.twilightnexus.com/?p=41

    *****************************

So basically Stephanie Meyer hasn’t sold the rights yet because she wants to make sure they do a good job making Twilight

Two summit won’t decide to make New Moon and Eclipse until they see what happens with the popularity of Twilight!

So if you’re a Twilight fan, make sure to go see the movie!!!!!

  35. Gravatar

I was a little disappointed with the cast, but i must admit I’m still intrigued. I’m just hoping the movie isn’t as bad as it seems. I’ve read twilight a lot of times and i have yet to see if the movie meets my expectations. I say all you “fans” should just give it a chance.

  36. Gravatar

They are just ruining everything i ever imagined the cullens to be…

to be fair, there is no one who they could cast as edward that would meet the standards but they could have done a dam sight better!!!

Edward is buff, sexy, eligant and piercing, like a young johnathon rhys myers, not stupid cedric diggory…edward is the most important thing in the book and casting him was screwed up…

every girl who has read twilight has fell in love with edward and are mesmirised by him, and the movie is killing it!!!

and as for the rest of the cullens, none of them look anything like what i imagined!!

the only person they cast well was bella…

  37. Gravatar

Okay I have tried hard not to read these for awhile but I just want to say to Megan… How can a movie KILL your version of Edward and the Cullens? That’s ridiculous. The book is the book. It’s a separate entity. The movie is an adaptation of the book… personally I’m excited we are getting a version at all to see on the screen. But it doesn’t have to ‘ruin’ how you picture any of the characters… if you can’t pick the book up and read it and get your own characters to pop up in your mind again, then I feel sorry for you.

I am excited the movie is being made by decent actors. Try giving them a chance… and remember, when it’s all said and done, just read the book again and your characters will still be there the way they were the first time you read it. Nothing can change the book or the characters in the book. Not a movie. It’s just a MOVIE, for crying out loud… and you should be happy that someone has decided to bring it to the big screen for us

  38. Gravatar

ok ppl so wat teh cast isnt exactly how the book describes… this isnt gonna b a total remake of the book…its only based on teh book…kk….

EDWARD: I think Robert Pattinson is good for Edward,he has rather good looks like Edward; High cheekbones, firm set mouth, piercing eyes, and, his smile is gorgeous. But, he has to buff up a bit, you guys are right. He is rather on the skinny side, isn’t he? I would suggest he get a personal trainer that trained him, gave him some muscles but not too much, not weightlifter bulky, but leanly muscled.

BELLA: She looks reasonably suitable for the role of Bella, but i have watched quite a lot of videos and interviews and i realised that her personality, on set or off, was not quite the same as what i imagined Bella’s to be. She is a little hard, for Bella. It’s rather hard to explain, but she doesn’t seem to LOVE edward like Bella does, her eyes dont convey the same chemistry as Robert’s when they have eye contact.I would say she looks quite a bit like how Bella would, but she seems not to have gotten into character, if you know what i mean.

ROSALIE: Yes, isn’t she supposed to be breathtakingly gorgeous? The rosalie on the poster has rather fake-looking blonde hair, a little on the plump side, and her clothes are all wrong. I would have thought Rosalie to be a tall, immensely beautiful and lightly sulky and pouty(dislike for Bella and her rather quiet personality and ‘vampirism’?)She should look like a model, with chiseled cheekbones, a good tall height(1.78?), piercing eyes, long and slender nose, blood red and set into a permanent pout lips and long, straight(but not rebonded straight, natural straight) with a little wave at the end and really glossy blonde hair, Something like an extremely pale and young version of Angelina Jolie, without the tattoos and with translucent skin and with apparent FRENCH looks.

JASPER:this guy looks NOTHING like Jasper! Jasper is tall, lean, blonde and beautiful just like his sister, but this guy looks mousey, stunned, and …weird.IN WHAT WAY IS HE LIKE JASPER?!!

ALICE: I thought this was a rather good choice, if you have seen how she actually looks like with short hair, she is petite but beautiful with high cheekbones and looks rather like a doll.

EMMETT: An okay choice, i guess. Not brilliant, but okay. But Emmett should be BIGGER, if you know what i mean. Definitely taller, and much bulkier. He’s supposed to look like a weightlifter!and a little like a grizzly bear.

CARLISLE: I know he is not on this poster, but i have seen enough pictures. His face is rather too wide for Carlisle. If i was a nurse at the hospital where he worked i won’t be charmed. Hah, no offence, but Carlisle should look like a model too! Tall, lean and blonde, rather like Jasper but more mature and manly. He is supposed to exude charm, to have charm OOZING OFF HIM!

ESME: She can be beautiful, I’ve seen pictures, but the make up artists etc. should do a better job, right? Make her more sophiscated, please.

Although they are not perfect, its really hard to find someone who fits everyone’s imagination, right? I hope they wil portray the characters well in the upcoming twilight movie though. It is a wonderful book, where the characters spring to life in the reader’s head. It would be nice if the same logic could be applied to the screen, too. I look forward to it, i hope the disappointment isn’t too great.

  40. Gravatar

get a grip guys. stop whining.

  41. Gravatar

    geez

  42. Gravatar

eh….i do not like this pic AT ALL.
    i love the Twilight series.
this first look or whatever it is totally is ruining it for me.
    i expected better.

  43. Gravatar

the actor as bella can stay but the rest must go cuz there just not good looking enough and it will just make the charcters look bad and i will be so mad when i watch the movie cuz it will be full of ugly ppl
and edward just has to be changed cuz the sctor is butt ass ugly and edward in the book is just beautiful

  44. Gravatar

well, Edward=ok, but the rest of the familly is totally different that I imagined, especially Carlisle who should look much younger and Rosalie who isn’t enough sexy
I have to say that I’m bit disappointed, but I can’t wait to see the film

  45. Gravatar

hmmmm. i only read twilight because my gf wanted me to so…….this isn’t at all what i imagined it to be like, however everyone has already made that comment….. hmmmm. ya this movie might be a little gay and once again everyone who has read the book will be dissapointed. then again, what director in history has ever turned a book into a movie without making anyone mad?
This movie will most likely turn most of todays youth into vampire lovers. Regardless of the dislike many people will have for this movie i predict that opening weekend will be about 12million dollars here in the states. Of course my 18 dollars will be in there for taking my gf to see it. peace everyone.

  46. Gravatar

I like the test shots better! I think Gaspard Ulliel would be the best for Edward, Emily Browning for Bella, Someone different for Jasper(idk who), Jesse Spencer as Carlisle, and I think the rest of the characters are ok. Jacob could have used a little work, but I can deal with him. Oh well. It’s not like I could have done anything about it! I just think the people who casted the roles needed to think A LOT about who they casted! I still can’t wait for the movie! I just hope it lives up to the standards of the books!

  47. Gravatar

I guess that the characters are alright. Its just that they could of found someone prettier than Bella but she is pretty enough to pass. Also I thought of Jasper as a little bit cuter but he kind of startled me the way that they made him look like a vampire. Anything other than that it will be alright. I just only hope that the movie will not make it seem so stupid that no one will read the books after that. I have my hopes and wishes up for that. If anyone has a comment to say to me you can find me on bunnylvrchick12@hotmail.com.

  48. Gravatar

i love everyone except edward. i think he can make it work, depending on his acting abilities, but that’s not how i pctured edward. my perfect edward is gaspard ulliel!!!!! bella’s o.k., i would have preferred emily browning though.

  49. Gravatar

I have to say that i was really surprised with the cast that they picked. Also very worried. I love these books to a fault and even with doubt i plan to go watch this movie on release day and am really looking forward to the release of breaking dawn. As for a lot of the comments on this thread, yes the picture is photo shopped to a horrible degree. The movie wont be so there really isn’t much problem there. I stand by this movie as the classic hit or miss. Either it is remarkably corny and blotches the plot of the books or the cast pulls it off and creates a wonderful movie in its own right. Like the harry potter books and the Harry potter movies can’t be compared to there counterparts. i think that this series will mimic that stand alone feat.
