Scarlett Johansson as Silken Floss in The Spirit

Last week set photos from Frank Miller’s big screen adaptation of Will Eisner’s The Spirit leaked online, leaving some fans disappointed.

Update: Today Lionsgate has released two new production High Resolution photos, both of which desperately scream “See, the movie looks like Sin City, I swear it really does, don’t look at those other unauthorized unfinished photos!”. Click on the photos to enlarge.

Samuel L. Jackson as The Spirit's arch-enemy The Octopus

The first photo features Scarlett Johansson as Silken Floss, a jewel thief with dangerous curves. The second photo features Samuel L. Jackson as The Spirit’s arch-enemy The Octopus. The teaser trailer will premiere on April 19th at 7:00pm eastern, 4:00pm pacific, so keep a look-out.

Discuss: Will The Spirit be the next Sin City / 300 or the next Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow?

Well, it will probably make no money like Sky Captain but...I really like that movie!
  • "Silken Floss"? Really? Is her brother's name "Bumpy Pavement"?
  • Captain Awesome
I'm really not sure how this will play out. I just need to see "more".

Samuel L. Jackson specifically accepts only bad movie roles now. I think he is the laziest person in Hollywood, besides Matthew McConaughey

I suppose my question is should it BE like SIN CITY In light of Will Eisner's vision?
    Time will tell.

wow it REALLY looks like sin city...hmmm, i honestly need to see more before i know how i feel. i don't think it'll be as big as 300, but i think it'll do well. gotta remember this is a pretty competitive summer.

i don't care what anybody says, but i truly liked Sky Captain. and i want to like the Spirit, but who knows, we'll have to wait and see.

Sky Captain was fun homage to the Max Fleicher Superman cartoons. Almost everything in that film was taken from those shorts.

I really want to like this movie too. The poster tag line had me sold. But i dont think that it is good that it looks so much like Sin City. Seems like a lazy move...will everything Millers involved with automaticly take a Sin City look?
  • J Ray
You only say that because Sin City was the first movie of his to come out. If The Spirit came out first you would complain about it looking like Sin City, Its Frank Miller's style and the reason he made The Spirit was to pay respect to the guy who wrote the comic book, that was Frank Miller's inspiration.

also we gotta remember that miller is relatively new to a film set. let's give him a couple outings on his own before he spreads those twisted wings of his.
