Jason Reitman has been very tight lipped about his next film project. What we know so far is that he was working on a screenplay when he came across Diablo Cody’s Juno script (prompting him to cease work on said mystery script). MTV was able to squeeze a few more details out of Retiman
“Yeah, I’m writing something,” he grinned, cryptically. “I’m going to direct it at the end of the year. And no, I haven’t told anyone what it is yet.” “It’s a comedy and a drama [book adaptation]. Think ‘Thank You for Smoking,’ but instead of political it’s corporate.”
He also revealed that he is writing one of the roles for Reitman regular J.K. Simmons (who played Ellen Page’s father in Juno and Aaron Eckhart’s boss in Thank You For Smoking).
So I want to send this question out to the /Film Readers: Does anyone have any ideas which book Reitman could be adapting? Tell us in the comments below!

maybe Syrup or the Company by Max Berry? two really great books, btw, that would make for an awesome movie(s).

Maybe he’s adapting Upton Sinclairs “Oil!” That should make for a great film, ” I’m a cynical postmodern oilman, homeskillet!”

Um…what happened to that Jim Carrey project he was doing, Peter?

I bet it’s Boomsday by Christopher Buckley. He proved he could do Buckley with Thank You For Smoking. And Boomsday would be a great movie in the right hands.

Pierre, Pierre with Jim Carrey was supposed to be his next project. What happened with that?

My first thought was The Company, too. Somebody’s got to be adapting one of Barry’s novels.

When they announced Pierre, Pierre with Jim Carrey, it was made clear that that would not be his next film

This sounds good. I’m glad he is writing this himself. I thought Thank You For Smoking was a very promising debut and was disappointed that he directed a film written by a far inferior writer for his sophomore effort.
And two movies isn’t enough for J.K. Simmons to be called a regular. Maybe after this next one is made.

A Clockwork Orange with J.K. Simmons as Chaplin!

Could it be an Enron story?

Company is a perfect fit for Reitman. Also, someone is trying to adapt one of Max Barry’s ‘Jennifer Government’, they’ve had the IMDb page up for some time.

No question, Daniel Deronda, by George Eliot.

I would guess “Then We Came to the End” by Joshua Ferris.

His next project is Jennifer’s Body with Diablo Cody. Basically another “ultra hip” teen horror flick, that allegedly tries to eschew some old cliches. I’ve heard some who’ve read the script say its much weaker than Juno, that the character development has some serious issues. This was before a recent rewrite though, so we’ll see what the finished result is…
I have absolutely no idea what Reitman is adapting.
And I bet we’ll all be damn surprised when he announces what he’s doing as well.

Sorry, I was totally mistaken on the Jennifer’s Body.
Its not Reitman’s…
SORRY!
