Update: We’ve updated this story with a second image (seen above), and a higher resolution version of the first image (below).
Paramount has released the first photo of Ray Park as Snake Eyes from the upcoming live action G.I. Joe movie.
So what do you guys think? Is the live action Snake Eyes as bad ass as you imagined? Can he save the live action GI Joe film from doom? Comment Below!

I personally dunno what to think. I mean it’s kewl. Looks like him. Kinda reminds me of the ninja vamps from Blade 2 but I mean it’s Snake Eyes, he has a sword and a gun, lets just hope he can move too. Which I’ve no doubt he can from seeing Darth Maul in action.
March 20th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
Whell, this does look kinda bad-ass.
March 20th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
Snake eyes looks awesome!!!!
I can’t wait to see STORM SHADOW!!!!
March 20th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
well…it looks like him. Can’t put my finger on it, but it also looks kinda fake too. I have faith in a lot of the cast, but sommers & most of his visions, not so much.
March 20th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
Not sleek enough … but then again, they’re going for the gritty, realistic look.
March 20th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
this is fierce! bring on storm shadow!
March 20th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
This will be just as good as Transformers. I mean really the director they got for that is a hack and so is this director. A lot of people liked that hacks movie so why not this?
Oh i see. Steven spielberg was involved in that piece of shit movie.
March 20th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Although I have low expectations, this photo is dead on.
March 20th, 2008 at 5:34 pm
The only thing that can save a GI Joe movie from doom (or anything for that matter) is a good script. The design and lighting is nice enough of a 5 minute distraction
March 20th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
could use sum light body armor
March 20th, 2008 at 5:49 pm
OMG…it sucks. Have any of you actually revisited the GI Joe cartoons? They’re shit.
March 20th, 2008 at 6:05 pm
Kick ass, better than i hoped. if their weapons fire straight it should be a good flick
March 20th, 2008 at 6:18 pm
Cosplay Snake Eyes replica Halloween costume coming soon.
March 20th, 2008 at 6:48 pm
Something about this image is screaming POWER RANGERS to me… I don’t know why but that can’t be good…
March 20th, 2008 at 7:04 pm
I dont think i like it. I think it looks fake. It looks like a kids nylon halloween costume. I dont think they were going for gritty or realistic at all, and if they were they failed. Jojo i guess i did not get your “Steven spielberg” comment. And Gag, you are right. The cartoon sucked but the comics were really cool. And if they had looked at any of those they could have done a better job on Snake-Eye’s look.
March 20th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
It’s instantly recognizable as Snake Eyes. It looks awesome if a little campy and it looks realistic enough for a movie based on a comic book based on a toy line. It will probably be worth a look.
March 20th, 2008 at 7:43 pm
It honestly looks like CGI to me.
March 20th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
“Instantly recognizable”? I question that. Looks like a foot solder mock up. “What am I late on my Sony payments…?” or whatever April said.
March 20th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
def looks like the original source material. i thought it’d look more like this bust tho: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41psoGGyixL.jpg
March 20th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
While I dont find it to be 100% real looking (it looks kinda cheap), I feel like I have to in some way respect that they went for a dead on version of him when they could have changed his look completely.
March 20th, 2008 at 9:17 pm
@Captain Howdy
Dead on.
March 20th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
that is bad-f*ckin-ass
March 20th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
reminds me a footsoldier in the ninja turtle movies.
March 20th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Awesome!!!
March 21st, 2008 at 12:29 am
looks like spandex. but, hey - GI Joe was popular in the 80’s, so I guess it fits.
i’m getting so tired of these muscle suits, tho - obvious shoulda-ma-pads in that suit.
do some behind-the-neck presses, Ray.
March 21st, 2008 at 1:27 am
Maybe it’s just me, but I think anyone familiar with the G.I. Joe comics, figures, or cartoon series would be able to recognize the photo as Snake Eyes with little trouble.
March 21st, 2008 at 2:14 am
its 5:14AM in connecticut right now….anyone up right now???
March 21st, 2008 at 3:59 am
I guess it looks alright, for a ninja…. But Where’s his Uzi??
March 21st, 2008 at 4:10 am
Ray Park signed up for Power Rangers?
March 21st, 2008 at 4:22 am
Looks like CGI to me
March 21st, 2008 at 7:37 am
I opened /film, saw the picture, and said “Snake Eyes!” before I read the title of the caption… I think it looks great (not suprised this is the first official release seeing as it was pretty much the only casting that had 100% fan support lol)
and really… aside form the fact that they both wear suits and helmets he looks nothing like a power ranger
March 21st, 2008 at 7:50 am
Pat, my POWER RANGERS thought was more in line with the apparent lack of production value rather than the costume itself. I do understand this is how Snake Eyes should look and think the outfit looks kinda cool - but the way it is lit or presented makes me hesitant to take it seriously for some reason… it looks campy somehow.
March 21st, 2008 at 8:42 am
Power Rangers - psh, people please!
I love the photo, but I still don’t have
much hope for the movie, which is a shame.
I don’t like Sommers as a director. The Mummy
movies were enough for me to write him off.
I think we’ll have a couple of cool looking
enjoyable characters, but all around the movie
will be lame. -sigh- Kind of like a Bay film. LoL
March 21st, 2008 at 9:03 am
Apparently Jojo missed the article explaining why Michael Bay is not a hack. :O
Also, this pic does look pretty dead-on for a film adaptation of the character. We’ll see.
March 21st, 2008 at 9:19 am
“Go go Power Rangers! Go go Power Rangers! Mighty morphing Power Rangers!”
Thanks, I have that stuck in my head.
March 21st, 2008 at 1:48 pm
…AS long as there are no nipples on the suit it will do.
March 21st, 2008 at 3:20 pm
Quick note. Why’s he got his clan insignia on his uniform rather then being tattooed on his skin as it should be? It’s supposed to relate to his connection with Storm Shadow and all…
March 21st, 2008 at 8:39 pm
JoJo is so cool. I wish I was him!
March 22nd, 2008 at 8:34 am
that’s right jj gonzo! let’s get on with storm shadow!!!!!
March 22nd, 2008 at 1:21 pm
Heck, this design — along with the Iron Man armor in this summer’s upcoming movie — I think that’s pret-ty darn authentic to the comic book character and action figure(s), as compared to the near leather motorcylce suits we got with “X-Men” (yes, I wanted to see the Wolvie mask and pointy collars and boots that he sported in the comic book).
Military team for Hollywood movie? We’re lucky the Snake Eyes’ mask wasn’t ordered to be taken off and replaced with a helmet and goggle or something. They coulda’ easily just gave Snake a samurai sword (katana), but, no, Snake Eyes’ blade is different, more like a long scimitar.
Really happy that his ninja family red icon is shown. Terrific.
If they stick with design, this is great. Could do much, much worse.
Wonder what the other Joes and Cobras’ll look like.
March 23rd, 2008 at 4:43 am
Its very authentic, which is always very nice.
but then so was ‘Spawn’…
i’m a little concerned the rubber muscles will look like… well, rubber muscles when he moves around.
I hope this movie will be fun.
March 23rd, 2008 at 7:56 am
He’s wearin a %$##@! rubber body suite.
March 30th, 2008 at 3:39 am
I agree that it looks a bit CGI. It looks like it’s based from a piece of artwork and made to look real.
Not keen on the fake muscles. The head looks like it’s made up of 3 pieces of either rubber or composite. Does no one use cloth anymore.
However, I am loving that visor! Lets wait and see how it develops.

This is the first of many changes to come with this movie. As of now. They did an excellent job with staying in character. As stated before they could have changed it completely. A good script and reasonable looking characters. I think this will do well as Transformers did. Now speaking on all the negative comments. You can only do so much, it’s like ordering a Olive Garden dinner at McDonald’s. Get serious. Stop complaining cause we all know that you are going to pay the ticket price to go see it when it comes out. Transformers did well in the first week, SO WELL that they are already working on a sequel. Pretty amazing for a movie many say is stupid. I’m sure this will to.
