You have to give Judd Apatow credit for still not having a single sequel, especially a Knocked Up with Twins, on his vast production buffet. MTV recently spoke to him about the sequelitis that all big producers feel at one point or another, and Apatow admitted there is one film, Anchorman starring Will Ferrell as ’stachioed newscaster dumbass Ron Burgundy, that is due for a follow-up. Fortunately, or unfortunately, if this sounds like a good idea to ya, Apatow wants Ferrell to do it when he’s wearing diapers for old-timer, as opposed to comic, relief.
“The movie that probably has a best shot at a sequel is Anchorman. Ron Burgundy would be hilarious at 70-years-old, being the anchor,” Apatow said. “We all think it would be fun to see him up on his feet again doing what only he can do. That would be awesome – but it could only happen in 30 years.”
Ferrell recently updated the Net on several unlikely sequels (Old School 2, Elf 2), but omitted Anchorman. I’m not saying Ferrell was implying that an Anchorman 2 will happen before three decades have passed; but I do think the image of a liver-spotted septuagenarian Burgundy taking multiple shots of liquor as he gets out of bed in the nerve-addling era of blogs, Twitter and YouPorn leaves an ocean of possibilities. How about you?
Discuss: Anchorman Deux? Would you like to see Apatow do a sequel to any of his flicks?

I think they should use the CGi that made magneto and Xavier look young in X-3 and reverse it! Seriously who want’s to wait 30 years, I’ll be 50 by then and won’t find it funny.

Anchorman is begging for a sequel. If they want to show an old ron burgandy, use makeup, they’re good at that. Anchorman scored a much larger audience on DVD than cinemas and i think a sequel would be great fro all involved

Please no sequel..

Forget the sequel - adapt it as a tv series!

I was under the impression Old School 2 was happening.

Definitely move on please.

I wasn’t sold at all until I read the concept.
Sounds like the idea could work, but IMO I would love to see Superbad 2.
But Superbad 2 : The College Years would be predictable and cliché. They would have to take it a step further … maybe the guys join the peace core disgusted with society and help a small village find the funk they so rightfully deserve.
OK, maybe not.

I thought Wake Up Ron Burgundy was the second film?! So is this the third?

I do miss his scent. His musk.
All the great directors do at least one sequel… Or the highest grossing directors at least. Did the media overlords convince us that that means they’re great?
@ Eric: IDK but either way they should skip two and go right to three… “Ron Burgundy: Eighties Blitz Trip” Ron Lands on the moon high on cocaine… discovers moon is cocaine “One big’ol crack rock”.
I think the next movie should flesh out Ron’s fathers life, the struggles perils and hardships, living as an Italian immigrant orphaned boy in New York City; his rise to power which becomes the quintessential anti-mirror of Ron’s own life path and eventual tragic end: death by asphyxiation while snorting moon cocaine in zero gravity, wearing only a speedo, doing cannon-balls into the Sea Of Tranquility.

Okay, that’s not exactly tragic.

There already is a sequel: “Wake Up Ron Burgundy”

Wake Up Ron Burgundy isn’t really a sequel, just the extra cut stuff cut into a film. You can tell when stuff intersects.

@ DeanPizzo
Yeah, but Superbad 2 would be infinitely better if Jonah Hill and Michael Cera were old as shit too. Take it to the links!

How how HOW does Will ferrell get movie roles?! Wow, lets see someone needs a dumbass in their lead role..
Wanna know why Will is good at these? I think it is ’cause he IS a dumbass, I think he REEKS and is a horrible horrible comedian.. calling him a comedian is an insult to comedians….
I think that a sequal to anchorman should be about 5 minutes long, with him being run over by a steamroller on a street somewhere.. now that is comedy… and I think it would probably be his funniest role ever..
