After countless delays (to some fanboys’ enjoyment), the Justice League of America 2009 tent pole from Australian director George Miller has hit another snag, a major one that has been months in the making. The production was just refused a tax rebate vital to filming down under by the Australian government. Miller is right angry…

“A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the Australian film industry is being frittered away because of very lazy thinking,” Miller told The Sydney Morning Herald. “If that’s going to be the final decision, they’re throwing away hundreds of millions of dollars of investment that the rest of the world is competing for and, much more significantly, highly skilled creative jobs. …It feels to me like I’m not fighting for this film. I’m fighting for the Australian film industry.”

The tax rebate was turned down because the powers that be think the film will be seen as All-American and not Australian upon release. What does this mean for the D.C. Comics dream team currently starring Megan Gale, Adam Brody and other unproven, fresh faces? Over at Action-Figure.com, a writer speculates that the suits want to move the film to Canada now, and goes so far to say that sources have told him Miller, who was key to getting the rebate, may be replaced along with the entire generally C-list cast. Wishful thinking or is Warner Bros. simply over it?

If the only reason Miller was put on this was to get the rebate, then he should probably be replaced. As for the cast, replace all of them. Either work out a deal so Bale and Routh can be in as Batman & Superman, or don't have those characters in the movie.
  • BJ Penn
This movie is a huge waste of time. Not to mention a smack in CNola's face for doing such a phenomenal job on the new BATMAN franchise.
  • KEVIN
    LET THIS DIE ALREADY!!!!!
  • Warner needs to get something that will compete with Star Trek before they do Justice League.

This has nothing to do with the topic at hand but I just want to plug a possible Red Dwarf movie :)
  • The Jezzus
When this movie is released, it will kill DC comics in the theaters.

But multiple delays are good, makes it that much easier to quit.
  • It would appear a wise decision for the powers that be to can this film. There's a much better way to launch a franchise like this.

Leave JLA to cartoons and comic books. This has no place on the big screen ... and I am a superhero fan ...
  • Captain Awesome
Fucking Miller needs to leave this project alone.

This film has sounded like a disaster from the get-go. Let it go and make another Mad Max film or something.

The beef is with the cast. Miller was a good choice, but his cast was unbearable. If it comes down to a choice of keeping Miller with this cast, or replacing Miller and getting a new cast, then I say boot Miller. The cast is the deal killer.

i feel the same as most, my beef is with this rediculous cast. although, i'm starting to see miller in a different light, doesn't he realize how shitty of a cast it is? i read an early summary of the script and it too was pretty lame. is he fighting so hard because he knows/sees something the rest of us don't, or is he doing this to spite us all and say 'it's my vision, fuck you guys i can do what i want'? by moving forward with these players, i'm starting to feel that some level of spite might be driving him - not all, but some.

Please let this film die already. At least wait until Nolan and Bale are done with a Batman trilogy. Or leave Batman out of it.

g miller sucks his one hit action wonder was the road warrior
then he went on to do babe and happy feet which was good but not good on a resume

i say go on with destroying this who production grab an action director like gore verbanski(pirates 123) or grab a visionary director like peter jackson (lotr king kong) and some good good actor and launch again

Good everything is going according to plan... Now all that is left to do is to bribe the canadian authorities, so that this film can die for good, just like I killed Tim Burton's "Superman".

    Mwahahahahaaa....

Hooray! On a side note, I can't believe the "Revenge Of The Nerds" remake was cancelled after filming had started, but they won't let "Justice League" go away, with the gazillion problems it already has...
  • Manfred Powell
Jesus, I didn't even realise this was going ahead. Shame on me.

Miller is a competent filmmaker, and I trust he'll be able to bring something worth watching to the screen. If it goes ahead.

It's all karma coming back to bite them in the ass, I can only hope that things continue to fall apart, so this farce that is supposed to be the Justice League of America is completely re-thought, re-casted, and re-directed. Whooo ray !! for Austrailia kicking them the hell out. Although unlikely, I can only hope that Austrailia got one good look at Adam Brody and the rest of the cast, and said "that's the Justice League" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!
    .........................GET THE HELL OUT!!
  • Sam
Apparently the budget for this film was $200mill. A colleague of mine made a good point. With actors like Megan Gale, why would you need $200 million?

They could still make the film in Australia by the way and be eligible for a 15% rebate here which is pretty competitive. Sounds like they were fishing.
