A teaser trailer for Madagascar: The Crate Escape premiered on the DVD release of The Bee Movie. Ben Stiller gives us an introduction to what we should expect from the sequel to the 2005 hit computer animated film. So far I’m not impressed. I think a lot of people were very disappointed with the first film, and while the second film promises to deliver more penguin hilarity (something that was highly advertised but lacking from the first film), I’m not quite sure that it will.
Madagascar: The Crate Escape will hit theaters on November 7th 2008.
Discuss: Did they really NEED to make a Madagascar 2?!

Hm, I really liked the first movie, the characters were hilarious, and this trailer doesn’t look too shabby to me. This just landed on my “to watch” list :)

The only good thing about the first one was
the penguins. The rest of the movie bored me
to death; however my daughter mildly enjoyed
the film.
This is geared towards the kids and while I don’t
think a sequel is needed all those parents with
kids who loved the first one will trek out to see
this one.

The first was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. I believe I chuckled a couple times and the rest of the time I wanted to scream at the pile.

Honestly, Madagascar was alright, but I think the outline of the animals and characters suited better for short films and advertisements. I remember seeing Wallace and Gromit and they showed the Madagascar Penguin Short Film which in my opinion was funnier than Madagascar itself.
I could totally see a Madagascar television show, but I think a sequel to the movie is pushing it a bit far. It could deliver and do well, and of course the kids will see it. But just like Ice Age 3 coming out, it’s a marketing deployment and the name of the movie which they hope to sell.
But the main thing being, is why devote so much time into a CGI Animated film, when the story and stuff is lacking. It’s a dissapointment. So hopefully there will be a turn around in the several months.

Obviously Frank and I are in the minority here…Cuz I LOVED Madagascar…(madahooha). I thought it was absolutely hilarious and one of my favorite animated films….I’ve watched it about 20 times…. I’ve been dying for the sequel to come out. And I thought that trailer was funny as hell.. I’ll be there opening day.

Um, Peter…Do they really NEED to make any movie? It’s not really about need is it?
