Indiana Jones 4 Photos from Cine Live

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I know I’m probably going to get complaints that we’re publishing yet another Indiana Jones 4 Photo post, but every Indy photo post thus far has been very highly read.

/Film reader Zoe G sent me these photos from the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull cover story from Cine Live Magazine. The story features new photos of Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Cate Blanchett and Shia LaBeouf (each new photo of Shia worries me more than the last). Check them out after the jump.

I'm not that comfortable with Monsieur LaBeouf's presence in the movie, but it feels downright homely compared to Cate Blanchett's 'look' - I know there's a highly stylized element to the presentation of the Indy quadrilogy, but "stylized" does not mean "weird"...

Maybe she'll turn out to be one of the rumored aliens...
  • Dr_Laggig
I'll have to agree with Mr. Hoult about Cate Blanchet looking more and more out of place. But I don't really get all the hate towards Shia LaBeouf. I don't want to sound like a Shia fanboy, but is he really that bad? To me he seems like a decent fit to play Indys rebel son / sidekick / younger clone.

I hope LaBeouf doesn't take over the franchise. He's not the "Indy" type. I don't think Big Adventure! when I see him.
  • Christopher Hoult
@Dr_Laggig: I just think he's overhyped, is all. Well, that and the fact that he's not old enough to take a major role in an Indy movie - Harrison Ford had enough world weariness and cynicism to give Indy depth right from the off.

I think I see his inclusion as an indication that Spielberg and Lucas don't consider Ford to be able to carry the movie himself. If his character were older (and hence more likely to move in Indy's circles) it would feel a lot more natural - like the return of Kate Allen and the introduction of Ray Winstone to the series; much as in the previous movies he was surrounded by his peers - and forgetting the lamentable Short Round for a moment.
  • Someone
Christopher sounds highly jealous of Shia LaBeouf. He's had two big hits last year and is going to have another big hit this year. I bet you anything Disturbia wouldn't have gotten the money if Shia wasn't in it and that Transformers would have made less if Shia wasn't in it. He has a load of fan girls that will help him make the money. I also think this Indiana Jones will be just as good as the original because they made it in the same way as the originals, without CGI.

Also, Shia gets the girls and you're probably just some geek sitting at home all the time playing your video games and snorting nasel spray.
  • Blanchett's hair and clothes look just fine to me.
  • Barry
Great pictures!. I don't know why every picture of Shia worries you. The one posted here is very nice. He looks pretty good in that one.
  • ShiaFan143
Shia RULES! LOL! OMG I hope he doesn't wear a shirt in this movie LMAO! I want totake a lock of his hair and plant it in the ground and grow a pasture of Shia so I can pick them when they're ripe and always have my very own Shias. Do you have a field full of Shias, Someone? I didn't F-ing think so, so HANDS OFF!
  • Rosie Powell
Nice pictures. I don't see the problem with Shia LeBeouf.
  • jj gonzo
    those pictures look awesome!!
this is going to be the best indy
    movie ever!!! listen people, i'm
just happy to see indy back on the
silver screen!!! if shia takes over
(spin off movie it's cool!!) give
    the guy a chance...
  • jen
that pic of shia is HOT im worried about shia setting the screen on fire. and cate the great looks fierce haters can hate but im excited may 22!!
  • Kiley
I don't agree that Shia doesn't belong in this movie. I think he'll make an excellent side kick. He is a brilliant actor, have any of you seen A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints? And although I think he's good looking, he's an atypical looking guy. It's not like he has the Brad Pitt body or Paul Walker face. However, I think his acting is amazing. He seems like a very funny guy, as well. And not just girls like him.
  • penny
karen looks like she had a blastcate looks ready to kick butt harrison is a gilf and shia is looks yummy this will be full of fun laughs and action
  • kev
shia has great energy and charm that works well with harrisons grumpy banter every pic i see of shia gets me more excited for the film and cate looks phenominal
  • Bob
I can't see a huge problem with Shia LaBeouf, either; they've made him up well, and to me looks pretty convincing as a 1950s-style punk kid, the sort who'll rub an older Indy up the wrong way, providing us with some good banter and giving us some new context for Indy's character. It'll be tricky to get the balance right, but I trust Shia - he does a nice line in browbeaten, everyman likability - and I certainly trust Spielberg and co. know what they're doing. Bring it on, I say!
  • zuz
    shia goes rockabilly
  • Lola
I agree with you he doesn't have Brad Pitt's body or Christopher Walker's face... Of course he doesn't... He has a way better body and face than those 2 guys.. I heard that he even put on 15 pounds of muscle just for this movie... (So hot...):D
  • Jessica
Yes I heard that too Lola! He is totally concentrated and working his best on the film for the public to enjoy it and you've got to respect that about the dude.... You can absolutely tell he's exited about the film and that's so cute! Ejemmm.. I mean It's like his dream is coming true and I just can't help but smile... And whoever said he wasn't up for the role is about to be shocked at how amazing Shia will be in this role. He's amazingly dedicated and has given a lot of effort to this movie and you can totally tell.... All of that effort and dedication will lead to success... I mean doesn't effort lead to succes?
  • Amvrosita
I think shia's work it's excelent!!! I love him and i think this movie it's gonna b the best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And hi is not a cute face only, he is a good actor and the best in the world! ok.. mayb not.but i LoVE HIM but the way
  • Jill
I've just read all of your comments and can't believe that no-one has mentioned Harrison! Firstly, for a guy thats 60 odd - is it just me or does he look incredible? And secondly, don't forget, this is an Indiana Jones movie and it belongs to Harrison Ford and no-one else. I think this movie will be terrific as were the other 3 and quite frankly, I think it will be interesting to explore Indiana's character in a little more depth. Shia sounds like he might be pretty good. We can only wait and see!PS: Harrison's hot for an old guy!
  • Christopher Hoult
Deary me, how have we unleashed this adolescent adulation for LaBeouf! I think most of the comments on this article - assuming they're genuine and not astroturf - go some way to validating my theory on his casting. How many of you would have seen Indy 4 without his presence?
  • jen
chris shia is just a young goofy guy nothing to worry about this is harrison fords movie and even at 65 he will own this movie
  • Indy Girl
I for one feel like a kid in a candy story.. my 80's crush and my Cougar Bait in the same film! Its like porn for this 37 year old!

I will be first in line and will watch it multiple times with or without the husband if neccessary.

Already have the babysitter secured for opening weekend and a back up in case of any last minute cancellations!

    Absolutely brilliant casting!!
