Defamer got a tip that Sacha Baron Cohen was filming some footage in Los Angeles for his Borat follow-up, Bruno:
“I saw Sacha Baron Cohen doing filming as Bruno (gay Austrian) at On Your Marks Studio in Sherman Oaks on Feb. 21st. He was dressed in tight leather black pants with a bedazzeled g-string showing. his hair was frosted blond and straight. He was interviewing parents with their children pretending to be an german / austrian ad agent looking for a child to do a car commercial. He asked questions like : are you willing to film your child with ants? bees or wasps? dogs? ect. very funny.”
I can’t imagine that a lot of people wouldn’t immediately reccognize Cohen following the success of Borat… Brüno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt is scheduled to hit theaters in late 2008.

I’m looking forward to this more than any other film this year. Borat exploded, but I really think that his Ali G show work is still overlooked. Not only is it hillarious, but it’s amazing social and political satire.

OMG, love that subtitle!

What a bomb that movie will be. The Borat character is funny, but I always used to fast forward through Bruno’s bits.

Bruno was always my favorite. Borat is just about making americans feel awkward for “not understanding” foreigners. Where Bruno’s whole thing is showing how shallow and self absorbed most people, specifically in the fashion industry, are. And Ali G was just never really that funny, except for the “dam, he’s stupid” factor.

@ keeleon: i don’t think anyone watching Ali G (who understands what’s going on) thinks, “Wow he’s stupid!” Sacha Baron Cohen is quite intelligent.

Oh, I i didn’t mean that he is actually stupid, just that the only really funny thing about the character is how stupid he appears to be. And of course it is even funnier because Cohen really is a genius and is capable of saying things that sound so stupid, but get the funniest reactions from people.

Bruno as a cheerleader at a deep-Spouth, college football game was freakin funny: “But I’m only *dancing*?!?!”
I agree, Ali G Show probably is totally underrated in the U.S. Brilliant and fall-out-of-your-chair funny.
