Sex in the City

I really didn’t want to post the new Sex and the City movie trailer, but there seems to be nothing else going on the interwebs this morning. So for the 5 women who read /Film, enjoy…

Discuss: Are there any guys out there who actually want to see this movie and are not being forced to by their respective girlfriend/wife?

I moved to the city to find love too!!! Sigh…. not yet

  2. Gravatar

I am a single and straight guy and I can’t WAIT to see this!!! Thanks for posting hun!

  3. Gravatar

Why do you assume no women read /Film? Strange comment.

  4. Gravatar

Clodagh, LOL Our readership is probably 80% male. The 5 comment was a bit of an over exageration and a joke. I wouldn’t be posting a trailer like this unless I knew /Film had a sizable female readership :P

I -am- a female reader and dear god I don’t want anything to do with Sex in the City. Bleh. I force my movie-hating fiancee to watch things like V for Vendetta with me, not this chickflick kind of crap.

  6. Gravatar

Uh, yeah! The Gay Guys do! ROFL!

  7. Gravatar

Bulls and the shity, not my case!

  8. Gravatar

You said it…Forced by your wife. lol

  9. Gravatar

no one can ‘force’ you to see anything. grow a pair, men… and ‘just say no’ to stupid romantic comedies once and for all.

they want to see it? then they should make it a ‘girls night out’.

    yes, i’m bitter.

I find these films educational anyways. It’s good learning tips for us men.

  11. Gravatar

Looove it. So excited for this movie.

  12. Gravatar

I’m not sure if I’m excited to see this movie, but I’m facing the inevitabity of having to see it with my special lady friend. Then again, I can say after watching the show enough times it’s not half bad. Even if SJP resembles a miniature horse. . .

Sex and the City is one of my favourite TV shows of all time…and I’m a straight guy…I don’t know why guys hate on the show so much, it’s pure entertainment…with fleshed out storylines and great dialog.

…Plus it makes for a great conversation topic with women.

  14. Gravatar

God, this rss-feed is getting closer to unsubscription every day.

Men can’t like romantic movies? Women don’t like action? Is this the 21th century?

  15. Gravatar

Regarding “Plus it makes for a great conversation topic with women.”
I’ll give you that but never mention you like the show in public around your straight friends. lol

  16. Gravatar

why do you assume that all women want to see that movie? Please, get off your pedestal and stop making assumptions about a whole group. and I’m sure many women out there read your blog. It’s not like all of us are make-up/fashion obsessed. Some of us women actually like to read /Film. Is that so hard to believe?

I am a straight male who will more than likely see this. I only watched the final season of the show and thought it was pretty good–a little tear-jerking at the end. Plus those girls are adorable and even though predictable romcoms aren’t my cup of tea, this one will have a certain kitsch aspect to it and I am always interested to see how TV shows translate to the big screen.

  18. Gravatar

My girl has the series on DVD and I’ve probably watched the entire thing twice with her. I thought it was a great show but I have no interest in the movie, it just seems pointless.

  19. Gravatar

Jeez, people, can’t anyone take freaking joke any more?

And BTW, if generalities cannot be made about the types of shows women and men watch I say pay attention to the gender makeup of the audience the next time Oprah is on.

    Yeesh.

Well, they’re called “chick flicks” for a reason, right? Romantic comedies are developed, produced, and marketed with a mostly female audience in mind. Likewise for action movies and men. That doesn’t mean men and women can’t enjoy them, just that the percentages, the demographics tend to be skewed.

And for the record, nope, I’m not looking forward to the SitC movie, but I never thought much of the series either (too self-indulgent).

    I’m so straight, I didn’t even watch the trailer..lol

As one of the 5 women who read /film, I would like to state for the record that I would rather stab a knitting needle in both eyes than even be in the same room as this movie.
Please don’t assume that we are all vacuous.

  23. Gravatar

I agree with Hana and Hammer Down, but I know it’s all in good fun. I watched S&TC for about five minutes once and wanted to stab Sarah Jessica Parker, and then myself.

  24. Gravatar

I am one of The Gays, but jeez, you would have to pay me quite a handsome sum to watch this thing. Cash money, son. I can’t wait for Suddenly Susan: The Frickin’ Movie.

  25. Gravatar

Stereotypes are always stupid: I am a woman and I hate Sex and the city. Maybe your observation is funny for your male-readers, but it’s just bullshit for a lot of female-readers. Only “5 women who read /Film”? It’s hardly surprising if that’s the concept about women you transmit.

  26. Gravatar

    To Hammer Down

Just because a girl likes Sex and the City doesn’t mean she is vacuous. ugh. maybe you SHOULD watch it.

  27. Gravatar

    @sari
    no WAY. BLECH.

  28. Gravatar

cheezus, i’m a lady and i won’t be subjecting myself to this movie. it looks terrible. i certainly hope you don’t assume that all women have no taste in cinema. you must have dated too many women like the sex & the city girls. (get tested.)

  29. Gravatar

my husband was the one who had to get me into the show! i had no desire to watch it until he talked me into putting it in our netflix queue. i’m glad he did. we will both be watching the movie happily. :)
