Roads? Where we’re going we don’t need roads…
Christopher Lloyd has stepped back in front of the cameras, reprising the now classic role of Doc Brown from the Back to the Future trilogy. But sadly this film shoot was not for a fourth Back to the Future film. This time the mad time-traveling scientist makes an appearance in a new music video by Universal Motown recording artist O’neal McKnight Featuring Greg Nice.
If my calculations are correct, the last time Lloyd appeared as Doc Brown was in 1992 for live-action segments of the Back to the Future animated series (Actually, I just remembered that Lloyd also returned as the famous Doc for a Back to the Future Slot Machine in Las Vegas).

The new music video, directed by ‘X’, features a bearded Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown and an adventure involving the DeLorean time machine. McKnight goes back to the future with Doc Brown to get a glimpse into his life and relationship with a beautiful lady whom he meets while at a New York City dance club.
No details on when the video will be released (or for that matter, where it will be played, since MTV no longer plays music videos, at least from what I gather). For now we’ll have to settle for a set of these photo stills, and a behind the scenes video which is available for your viewing pleasure on BTTF.com.
Discuss: Would you like to see a Back to the Future 4? Pitch me your story ideas!

I don’t know about slot machines, but I do remember Doc Brown appearing last year (2007) in DirecTV ads. It wasn’t as good asCharlie Sheen’s ‘Wild Thing’ though.
February 17th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Jim - How could I have forgotten about the DirecTV ads….
February 17th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
I loved the Back to the Future series, it would be nice to have a remake of the series with a different story line. It would be tough to replace the original cast
February 17th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
i would flip for Back to the Future: Part Four… it would be especially difficult considering the DeLorean’s destruction and Doc’s leave in Part Three, not to mention Micheal J. Fox’s ever worsening disabilities. Or the fact that the future portrayed in Part Two is absolutely nothing like the times we currently live in (however.. that WAS set 7 years from now). I think we can all agree that a reboot would not be possible without Fox or Lloyed.
February 17th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
I think the best way to do a fourth film would be to make a quasi remake. Have Llyod back as an older Doc Brown, and go back in time to the 60’s, 70’s or maybe even the 80’s. The technological advances in the last 20 years would be more than enough fuel for the comedy.I’m sure Michael J Fox could film a quick cameo, as could Biff and the rest of the gang.
February 17th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
Damn Right I would. But only if the OG cast and director return. And the story? Just give us the same thing but bigger! i.e. Doc brown visits a middle aged Marty Mc fly and tell him that he’s actually been in trapped in an alternate time line since the end of the third one, and if they want to save the universe then they have to go back and set some things straight even if it means that Biff might end up getting the last laugh …and his girl.
…And then we go into space with Rambo for no reason at all.
February 18th, 2008 at 12:02 am
I would give ANYTHING for a BTTF4…ANYTHING.
February 18th, 2008 at 1:05 am
How bout Marty goes into the Future to find a cure for his ALS.
February 18th, 2008 at 2:09 am
@ Brody
What an unbelievably tasteless, crude, unfunny remark. You’re an asshole!
February 18th, 2008 at 3:36 am
NO, NO I DO NOT!!!!!
and the main reason that I don’t want it to happen, is because I actually figured out the PERFECT way for them to make a BTTF4 and/or a remake of the original (ex. who to cast, the story, etc.) and it works out so perfectly well, that I am terrified that it could happen, and could/will ruin my favorite movie of all time. And thus I refuse to even say it over the internet because of how perfect it is, and I don’t want anyone getting any ideas.
Guys, think about it, they can’t make a BTTF4…they just can’t…
If one movie from the 80’s is kept scared please, oh god please let it be Back to the Future…
February 18th, 2008 at 6:31 am
i really do not understand michael j fox.
he wants to raise money for stem cell research,
then why not make and distribute bttf4 independently without universal and then use the billions from that? he’d have a cure by now?
because Lloyd and the world clearly wants a 4th.
the hard part is getting Gale, Zemeckis and Fox on board.
oh and I have the best plotline for BTT4.
February 18th, 2008 at 7:48 am
Traveling back and forth through time has a lot of potential, but I can’t really think of a plot line that I’d lay down $20 at the theater to go see. In keeping with comedy, and with what they’ve already done: Saving Marty’s parents, saving his kids, saving his ancestors, himself, and Doc, I really don’t know what could be left and still be funny. Furthermore, a remake of any/all of ‘em would be a bad idea. They’re all classics.
“Crazy scientist invents a time-traveling car and his zany young friend travels back and forth through time getting into mischief, forcing the crazy scientist to create crazy yet funny ways to fix the time lines; thus restoring the balance of the space/time continuum… maybe just a little bit better than it was… for them.”

Lloyd also appeared as Doc last year in a video/live segment at a Microsoft convention.
February 18th, 2008 at 8:42 am
This horrible dreck labeled as “music” does not deserve Doc Brown in any way, shape, or form. Sorry, but it cheapens the whole BTTF franchise for it to be used in this awful context. What’s next, Fiddy and the Coreys vs. Edward Hermann?
February 18th, 2008 at 9:27 am
back to the future part 4
it could be political, and have marty going back to make sure BUSH never got in. :)
but seriously, it should be left alone. just like indy, the ending to the indy trilogy was more than perfect.
February 18th, 2008 at 9:37 am
hey Matias Blankenshroete,
forget about your hatred for music by black artists and think.
has it occurred to you that maybe Lloyd is doing
these Doc appearances with the intent of inciting
web buzz about a possible bttf4?
because that’s the reason he’s doing them.
because there is a market for it.
February 18th, 2008 at 10:49 am
A lot of people don’t know this, but Microsoft made a horrible Back to the Future spoof last year in June with Christopher Lloyd.

February 18th, 2008 at 11:47 am
Is that right, blahblah? You’re tight with Lloyd and he told you this first-hand?
I really shouldn’t respond to someone who has proved their intellectual weakness in their previous posts (actually, your comment on Michael J. Fox borders on offensive besides just being ignorant), but I must point out that YOU are the one who has used the word “black” in an attempt to call me a racist.
I stand by my comment that the original video artist’s music is in my opinion poor, and that matching it with BTTF is absurd. The idea that Lloyd would use the opportunity to somehow culturally jump-start a Part 4 “movement” is ridiculous.

BTTF Part IV will never happen folks. Gale and Zemeckis are done with BTTF movies. But that doesn’t mean there couldn’t be anything else on the horizon.
February 18th, 2008 at 3:05 pm
Randy, I know Zemeckis and Gale have been against the idea since the release of BTTF3, but sometimes people change. Zemeckis is really trying to push this whole performance capture 3D technology, but so far the box office results havent been incredible. When I interviewed Beowulf producer Steve Starkey (i think…) at the Beowulf junket, I asked about the possibility of a new back to the future using performance capture. He smirked but didn’t deny the possibility. I’m not saying its going to happen but everything in Hollywood eventually gets remade. It’s ust how it goes. One day BTTF will be back on the big screen. It’s just a question of how long until it happens.
And what exactly do you mean by “that doesn’t mean there couldn’t be anything else on the horizon.”?
February 18th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Marty and the Doc travel back to the Jurassic age to retrieve an amulet with mysterious powers.
February 18th, 2008 at 5:46 pm
The Doc showed up just last year (2007) in longform on stage at TechEd…

I used to have a link to the vid, its floating around and god-awful.

here is an idea, go back in time and don’t kill hitler, or save JFK, instead, tap bush and cheney in the head each when their not yet evil dictators bent on destroying america.

sorry about the hate speach, it was just a hopeful idea. No real chance of it happening, just a plot for a movie. don’t take it too seriously
February 18th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
He also reprised his role at the TechED 2007 conference in Orlando last year for Microsoft. This was for the keynote on the first day.

My idea -or maybe i just heard it somewhere years ago and now claim it as my own- would be a 4th film that centers around Doc’s sons, Jules and Vern, all grown up. Maybe played by Owen and Luke Wilson. They take the train time machine and go to the future and make a new time machine out of some bad ass new car -or steal the Delorian at some point and put it back before anyone is the wiser. Don’t know what the plot could be, just a premise.
February 18th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
Or just do it as a video game -like the Ghostbusters, that way michael j fox could be in it…
February 18th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
You should re-calculate. He appeared in 2007 for Microsoft.HERE YA GO
February 19th, 2008 at 1:01 am
I would much prefer a new tv series, of a similar feel to heroes and lost. With each season being set in a different era of time, i.e. season 1 1955, season 2 2015, season 3, 1885 etc and set the series to be more about the characters and the era rather than focusing too much on the time travel aspect but rather making that an ongoing subplot.
February 19th, 2008 at 2:08 am
on second thought, nevermind. i want hollywood to leave bttf alone. especially zemeckis with his motion capture gimmicks.
February 19th, 2008 at 3:51 am
How about… a teen suddenly shows up and kidnaps Marty to the future where another time machine has been stolen and they must retrieve it before the threads of time are unraveled!!! How original is that? Sounds nthing like Meet the Robinsons!
February 19th, 2008 at 5:41 am
Sorry. But you are wrong. Anyways I am happy to see the man.
February 19th, 2008 at 6:38 am
would love a BTTF4, however without the original cast it just a no go in my opinion, as it will always be compared to the other 3. It just wouldn’t be as good as no doubt they would try to be different and in doing so would mess it up and ruin an already amazing trilogy.
February 19th, 2008 at 7:04 am
Please do not ruin the original trilogy by tacking on some lame 4th movie that will be nothing more than an easy money grab.
February 19th, 2008 at 8:12 am
Back to the Future 4 plot:
Doc Brown discovers that time travel causes nerve damage when Marty starts twitching uncontrolably. He must risk his own health by traveling into the future to find a cure.
February 19th, 2008 at 9:03 am
Excellent news!
February 19th, 2008 at 9:41 am
It’s funny to look at this, when a lot of people thought he was so typecasted from the show TAXI that he would never had another job. As it ends up, he actually fell into his biggest gig yet.
I love the old series, I wish there was a 4th!
February 19th, 2008 at 10:26 am
Man, I’m as big a fan as anyone when it comes to BTTF. I bought the trilogy 3 years ago, and watched the original on VHS as a kid at least once a week. However, I’m getting tired of them taking something that was so great and ruining it to make a buck. Same with Indiana Jones, I’m a huge fan and want to see Harrison bring the role back, but I just don’t think it will work this time around.
February 19th, 2008 at 11:53 am
Nitroslick, why the hell can’t you simply track Brody down and beat the ever-loving shit out of him for that comment? I hate it when people just sit back and do nothing. Track that mother fucker down and go to his house with a baseball bat and just go off like a fucking canon. Don’t hold anything back. And then when he’s outside lying down in the yard bleeding, take a 5 gallon bucket of gas and sprinkle it all over his house, toss a match and tell him that you hope he dies. Then walk away, spitting on him as you leave. If he has any cars parked out front, be sure to put a knife in all of the tires. Thanks and good day.

DON’T MESS WIYH PERFECTION .
February 22nd, 2008 at 12:43 pm
This is great! I am friends with his neice. His nephew stars on the TV show “Scrubs.” My daughter absolutely loves all 3 of the movies and has the triology. When she was younger she was afraid of him when he played Judge Doom in Roger Rabbit. I loved his role as Reverend Jim in Taxi.
March 19th, 2008 at 2:24 am
Make a movie about Martys son. Set it in 2015, as in BTTF2, but 2015 is nothing like what it was in BTTF2…no flying cars and things like that. Set it on the day that Marty and Doc came to the future to and then Martys son, steals the time machine and almost causes a major paradox, and goes back in time and almost stops everything that happened in the first 3 films from happening.
March 19th, 2008 at 2:26 am
Oh as for suggestions, as to who would be in the movie….maybe Shia Lebouef(transformers as Martys other son). To that dude who made that comment about MJF’s Parkinsons, Im sure that even with his sickness, he’s still more of a man than you ever will be.

I think that BACK TO THE FUTURE IV IS POSSIBLE, thousands of fans are looking forward this to happen all around the world !!(I´m from Spain).
But ZEMECKIS and BOB GALE must accept the challenge, in order to make sure that the result is on the same level as the previous trilogy or even better, not only a huge success but also a hight quality film, coherent with the plot we all know and innovative in many senses, we are in the digital era! anything could be carried out.
I´d personally like the film to be set in the future, from 2015 on…, with Elijah Wood playing the part of Marty or his son: he is the best choice! because Michael J. Fox is not in a fit state for the time being, although he could play a cameo role, as well as Christopher LLoyd (he could be considered, but he is old for the role, from my point of view).
There have been sequels from Superman or Alien, that didn´t raise as much money as Back to the Future. And this is getting up to date as we can see in other tittles like Indiana Jones, Star Wars or James Bond.
Will be there a future for Back to the future IV?
March 31st, 2008 at 10:03 pm
Well if they were ever to make a BTTF4 they wouldn’t be able to have Fox revive the role of Marty, because of his current state. I believe the best solution would be to have Doc’s kids do the traveling. this way we could still open the movie with the ending to the 3rd and also have cameo’s by Doc and Claira.
Doc’s kids could tavel to the future or the past in the train. As for the reason they would travel, I would say that because they have been traveling in train for many years and they travel to the future and discover that their traveling has in someway destroyed life on the planet. So they will have to travel to the past to find what went wrong and where it happend, and try to fix it. This would allow cameo’s by all former cast members and also would be a good segway to the introductions of Jules and Vern.
I would love to see another BTTF but I find it hard to believe that they could match the perfection they hit in the 1st 3 movies. I wouldn’t want them to sour the name of the BTTF trilogy by making a sub-par movie, but on the other hand, who wouldn’t love to see another BTTF?

Coming from a true fan, the music video was tight but Christopher Lloyd did not look like he wanted to be in the shooting. He’s a true actor. Every role is a challenge, and he had to go back in time to go back in time. It’s cool we all have to pay rent/mortgage (Nick Nailer). As for a sequal, it would be cool but it would have to be new people and an almost a realistic plot line. People are real anal about fact and fiction since the introduction of reality TV. It could only have minimal but accurate references to the original three. It definitely would require work and a dedicated director not someone after box office revenue. If David “The Hoff” Hasselhoff can comeback why not the Delorean? Fucking sweeet car! It deserves one more run to 88. If not for the cast then for John D. Delorean…..RIP.
June 24th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Actually I’ve been working on a sequal for several years now. I won’t pitch it here because of thieves but rest assured there is very much room for a sequal to this movie (and it can be done with or without Michael J. Fox, I know he’s still ill right now so I found a way out of having to ask him to make this film, but if he wants to, it will be easy to write him in).
I am sick of time travel movies where the central theme is a “threat to the space time continuum, etc.” they did not do this in the first 3 (although the threat was meantioned).
My sequal picks the story up and uses plot twists that come directly from the first 3 movies. I think it’s an excellent story and would be a great addition to the series.
No other sequal could use the same main characters so long after the last insallment. It’s perfect because we are dealing with time travel here so the actor’s ages would be a “boon” to the movie. That’s all I’ll say about my idea.
If Christopher Lloyd is interested he can come contact me at Myspace.com/spellsing

I think they should wait for Michael J fox to recover and then do Back to the Future part 4. Please do not rule Michael J Fox out on the 4th movie. I read on some web site that he is interested in doing more back to the future movies. I think Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyed should reunite and do more Back to the future movies, set in 50s,60s,70s, 2018 and so on in the near future. I would love to see more and more back to the future movies in the near future.
Please, please, please do a Back to the future part 4 and we want the same actors and they are Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyed.
Here’s the web site on Michael J fox saying that he wants to do more Back to the future movies.

What if the FBI investigating the Libyans ans the missing plutonium, discover the wreckage on the train tracks and take it to the government to study. They find the jvc camcorder, which has interference, as it was left in 1955. They find out what doc brown was up to. Sometime between 1990 and 2015, marty is kidnapped by goverment scientists and hidden in the dinosaur era as they use him pacificully for their experiments.
2015 comes around and there is no hover conversion. Jennifer looks after marty junior and marlene and they eventually meet up with doc brown. Marty junior travels with doc to 1955, 1885, 1985 to find out what happened. they also travel to years in the 20th century and far into the future. They only have a matter of weeks to sort it out or a paradox will happen. this continues into part v and vi in theirn searh for marty (mjf). part vi marty is saved, but a mad scientist intends to destroy the asteroid that blows up the dinosaurs. already there’s rips in the space time continuum and people and creatures are going through time holes into diffrent years. doc and the gang must sort it out or bye bye univerese. mjf when saved would seventy seven years old in the timeline saved. it would be ideal for him to play this part. lloyd, shue or wells could return. as can thompson and wilson. shia lebeuf could be marty junior. i don’t know who could be marlene. jules and verne would feature. steenburgen would be in it. the paradox in the film could affect parts I, II AND III. There are still a few answered questions from the trilogy, which could anwered in the final trilogy for parts IV, V AND VI.
