AICN received a tip today claiming that Al Pacino has already been cast as one of the villains in the next James Bond opus, Quantum of Solace. Now this info is not confirmed and is strictly rumor, but if true, Pacino certainly gives the new school Bond an old school kick. Here’s what the tipster says…

“But the big news that he leaked was that Al Pacino would be taking part in filming. I was a little shocked as the cast has been revealed aready, but he said Pacino would play the head of the terrorist group introduced in CASINO ROYALE and QUANTUM OF SOLACE. Al is said to come to Pinewood in April-May to film what is said to be a brief cameo.”

The tipster says the info comes from a friend who’s working on Bond 22’s sets. I have an opinion on this casting, but I’ll wait to see how the info develops first. What’s your take?

Not a chance in hell. Never happen.

Yeah, this is incredible news. As if Pacino wouldn’t jump at the chance to be in something like this. QoS is lining up to be even better than Casino Royale

    Lets Hope Not

I don’t think this is true. Read the tipster quote again. It says Pacino would play the head of the terrorist group introduced in Casino Royale and that he would be in “…Pinewood in April-May to film what is said to be a brief cameo.”

Why cast a big name as Pacino (who probably isn’t cheap to hire) for a small cameo appearance as a character that doesn’t really have much to do in the film?

If that’s true, they really are trying hard to shake up the Bond Experience.

    Hoo-Ah!

‘One more thing Mister Bond. Never go against the family’

Pacino in QOS,…it should be good, at least if they are to put some dialogues of the kind of Doctor No (”You dissapoint me, Mr.Bond; after all, you’re just a stupid policeman” or “We can’t all be geniuses”). Great Bond scenes were not just the full-packed with action ones, but interesting lines and smart villain’s talking.

Oh if only we’re really lucky and he turns out to be the new franchise’s Blofeld. I’d take Pacino or Michael Emerson in that role any day!
