Rob ZombieLast week a new Rob Zombie project popped up on the production boards as The Weinstein Co / Dimension Films set an August 28th 2009 date for “Rob Zombie’s Tyrannosaurus Rex“. But what is Tyrannosaurus Rex? Zombie wrote a blog entry on myspace which revealed very little.

“My next live action feature is called TYRANNOSAURUS REX. I don’t want to give away any details yet, but I will tell you that it has nothing to do with dinosaurs.”

A studio source tells us it is instead “something very special”. Whatever that means. Let the speculation begin…

Anyone out there have any real information about this project? Comment below or email me anonymously.

Isn’t this supposed to be Conan?

Conan is a Lionsgate show. I guess this means Zombie passed on it?

I do not know how much i am legally allowed to post but CGI will be used in this movie….not a lot but there will be some.

Also expect the same actors Rob usually uses but he is wanting a high profile actor to be in it as well…he does have an idea of who though.

    V**** M********

If i can tell more, i will soon.

CGI will be used? That narrows it down a lot

    Viggo Mortensen.

Correct Daniel. But he is currently working on other projects so Rob isn’t sure whether he will be able to commit to it. Therefore, he might have a cameo role if he agrees to star.

Here is a bit of information:

According to The Pulse of Radio, Rob Zombie told RollingStone.com on Friday that his next film might be a Western. The rocker-turned-filmmaker, who said he loved this past fall’s remake of “3:10 to Yuma”, explained, “It’s one of my favorite genres. I love John Ford, Howard Hawks”. Although Zombie has not revealed specific plans for his fourth film as a director, he told one group of reporters on a recent conference call that it would not be a horror movie. He has also ruled out directing a sequel to his hit remake of “Halloween” and dismissed Internet rumors that he was working on a re-imagining of the ’80s chiller “C.H.U.D.”

This is supposed to be losley bassed off of Zombies comic book called “The Nail”. Check it out on amazon to get a basic idea.

A regular scooper tipped us off, and it was confirmed that T-REX is about a wrestler named Tyrannosaurus Rex who is on the run from a biker gang from hell. Furthermore, the idea for the film is loosely based on the comic book Zombie did with Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) entitled THE NAIL. Here’s the synopsis:

Hunted in one of the most desolate regions of America, preyed upon by an evil that does not sleep, Rex Hauser is The Nail - and it’s time he took a stand. A semi-pro wrestler, Hauser has been touring the country performing at small-time arenas until the fateful night he and his family run afoul of a bloodthirsty gang of Satanic bikers stalking the North Dakota Badlands. Now he’s a lone man fighting for the survival of his loved ones in a no-holds-barred standoff against the forces of Hell itself! Co-written by the newly formed CREEP International writing team of modern horror masters Rob Zombie and Steve Niles, The Nail is a relentless, unflinching portrait of the heart of darkness, and what one man will sacrifice to hold it at bay.

The film is slated for release August 28, 2009

    apparently so anyway
