I’m not one to get excited about spoof movies. The original Scary Movie is probably the last good one. When Dimension announced that they were going to spoof the superhero film genre, I actually got excited. There in lies the potential for a great geek film. But I was brought back down to earth when I saw the film’s trailer, thanks to SHH. Instead of spoofing the entire superhero genre, it appears they went after the first Spider-Man film. t doesn’t look as bad as Meet The Spartans, likely because it’s not a mess of pop-culture references which have nothing to do with the film’s main theme (really, what did Megatron have to do with the Swords and Sandals genre?). I find myself watching this trailer and thinking to myself “It’s not horrible…” I’m not saying it looks good… Watch the trailer for The Superhero Movie after the jump.

i just don’t understand how these things get the greenlight. i read a theory a while ago that bad films were some type of money laundering scheme, yes it was silly, but stuff like this makes me wonder…

I disagree. The last great spoof movie was Not Another Teen Movie. Far superior to Scary Movie, though those are probably the only good ones of the 2000s. Scary Movie 2 is almost good and the rest of the entries into the genre don’t come close.

I also thought it was going to spoof ALL superheroes.
Another waste of film but of course there will be an audience that will think this is the funniest movie ever made.
Dont get me wrong, I love my spoof movies (SPACEBALLS, Loaded Weapon 1, Airplane!, etc) but movies like these are ruining that genre (if thats even possible) ha
Meet The Spartans was a complete joke and I’m sure it didnt take a talented writing staff to come up with a script, “Hey Paris and Britney are stupid & no talented, lets make fun of them BAM! instant classic…”

Funily enough I remember quite enjoying scary movie 4 but not really any of the other ones. This one doesn’t look absolutely terrible; compared to date movie/meet the spartans it looks hilarious.

I thought the trailer was terrible and the movie looked like a huge waste of money, effort, and time….BUT…the breakdancing scene on the wall was hilarious! Oh well :o)

For some reason people seem to foget about it, but the last great parody without a doubt has to be NOT ANOTHER TEEN MOVIE… it is the most PERFECT example of what a good parody should look like.

Im going to agree with Peter, this is not the worst movie ever and its by far not the best. It has potential and Meet the Spartans was a joke. Dont understand how that was ever made. I might actually go see this.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! I WANT TO SEE IT SOOOOOO…. BADELY!! (WITH MY DADDY) Just to tell you all, i loved meet the spartans, I Also loved the scary movies. Here is my order of the best scarys movies to the worst: 2,4,1,3. THE SECOND WAS SOOOOO GOOD!! So, i disagree with Accordion27 on scary movies because it was the best one out of all of them. Everyone says that it is where i live. My point is I LOVE SPOOF MOVIES AND I WANT TO SEE THIS ONE!!

went to go see the movie a couple days ago. Its okay, really stupid, but I guess its the kind of funny that a teenager would have. I got to admit, some parts were really stupidly funny. OVerall its an okay movie.
