Cloverfield San Francisco chalk

Today Chalk graffiti was found all around San Francisco. The message reads “What is Cloverfield? 1-18-08″. Did Paramount hire viral marketers to spread the word about the upcoming monster movie all over the city sidewalks? Or is there some crazy JJ Abrams fan with chalk on the loose?

Like SF doesn’t have enough graffiti. I’m going to go around Hollywood and scribble “JJ Abrams is a tool… 12-21-07″ right now.

HE’S A TOOL BECAUSE HE MADE ALLIAS, HE’S GREAT BECAUSE EVERYTHING ELSE HE’S MADE.

    YOU’RE JUST A TOOL JERRY!

This is the cheapest attempt at viral marketing ever - I can’t believe a studio would hire somebody to do that, especially when the ATHF pranksters probably need some work to buy a pound of weed.

It would awesome if they planted big logo’d monster scales around cities, and if they put globs of gooo on them (if applicable), super. Or even bouncy ripped off heads of the Statue of Liberty.

    CAPS LOCK MAKES YOU RIGHT!

    Anyway.

I doubt this is CF viral marketing. If it is, I’d say that defacing private and city owned property is probably, um, yeah….. illegal.

  5. Gravatar

Whell, i lol’d :D Viral marketing or crazy fan - still funny enough :D

its chalk, it washes off in the the rain, or the piss. no biggie. thats why they didnt spray paint or anything.. tool

i totally agree with you doh doh, when i saw the chalk, the first thing that ran accross my mind was “not even bubble letters?”

It looks like it is part of a larger street marketing campaign: http://cloverfieldclues.blogspot.com/2007/12/cloverfield-guerrilla-marketing.html

sorry, I suppose I’m just a little bitter.

Two weeks ago I ordered a Slusho sweater as a xmas gift. Funds were deducted, but I never got anything. I emailed those idiots, still never got a response. Not a… your item is on hold, we sent it, nada.

at least now I know that the $28 they robbed from me went towards something important… like buying chalk.

  10. Gravatar

thats unfortunate, i thought about it, i wanted to get a note from the chuai station, maybe they are gonna send you one, jerry. thats me being optimistic. but yeah, for 28 bucks, they could have bought a variety of colors, draw a burning building or something… unless its some crazy fans

Assuming that the first order they received was order #1, doesn’t seem like they are really doing that great selling merchandise, as my order number was in the low 2000’s.

But still, having their drilling operation unleash a punishing beast of ginormous dimensions to wreak terror upon them is no excuse for piss poor customer service.

Seriously though, I really never got what I paid for.

  12. Gravatar

you would think that with the monster raping everyone, they would at least offer great service, so no one will bitch. but nope, bad service and a beast raping….. anyways guys, happy holodays

    holidays.. dammit

Jerry, from what I’ve heard, they don’t charge the card until they ship, so you will probably be receiving it soon. As far as the email response, they have been slow responding to emails, but i have heard that some people received the following message: “Due to a large volume of backorders Slusho! is a little behind. Be aware though that work is being done to get it all caught up and current. Thank you for your patience.”

There is a discussion about it here: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=439723#439723

Thanks for taking the time, CC.com.

Hey, I’ve got a question for you. I’m sure you’ve seen that leaked pic if the monster with the whale lice. You fella’s think it’s legit?

  16. Gravatar

    No, it’s fan made: http://cloverfieldclues.blogspot.com/2007/09/fan-made-cloverfield-monster-art.html

  17. Gravatar

Bummer, I thought the lice idea was pretty darn original and would have been an interesting element to see.

  18. Gravatar

i did too, it looks cool. i was thinkin that if it isnt that monster, it should be.. but hopefully its a better monster

  19. Gravatar

It’s being conducted by a hollywood based viral company called A.D.D. Marketing and it is a nation wide campaign.

The posters in NYC say “What is It?” now too…

Wasn’t there a little girl arrested and fined for writing on a sidewalk with chalk not to long ago. I thought that victims of homicides were normally out lined with chalk. Would someone please throw a piece of chalk at Jerry B? STOP!!! INTHE NAME OF THE LAW!!!!
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

    It does, however
    sometimes make for a laugh…
“Due to a large volume of backorders
    Slusho! is a
    behind. Be aware though
that work is being done to get it
    all caught up and current.

And it’s not just this comment

    Think they need
    To fix they’re margins.
    Or whatever.
I know squat about web designing.
    But I’m sure they’ll
